And for that matter your new life post sleeve as well!

Smoking
I am a smoker....and I hate it. Smoking one right now. I just had a tummy tuck, and have found that the medication for pain that I am taking cause me to crave them even more! Are you currently on any pain med? Just wondering if that is where the cravings are coming from? Good luck....and what ever you do....don't light up!

Why are we sooooooo hard on ourselves?
I am a strong believer in positive thinking! After my husband and I were out on strike together at the same time for 5 months with three kids we finally got a contract with our employer and were allowed to return to work. Our work sent us to a similar about the power of positive thought, and saying everyday to ourselves that today will be a good day...and when people ask us how we are doing our answer is always terrific! That if you believe that your life is terrific every day, eventually you will not only believe it, but you will live it. On that note I just wanted to say...have a terrific day, and life for that matter!

Why are we sooooooo hard on ourselves?
You haven't had the surgery yet, and still you sound very wise in this situation. You are right that there are a lot of people that are to hard on themselves, and expect way to much with this surgery. Good for you for knowing to not worry about that scale! It sounds like to me that you will do very well with this surgery, and have the right expectations too. I am now two years and one month out from surgery, so I have a very different prospective on this surgery now then you do, as well as a lot of the posters on here, but yet I still agree with a lot of the things you said. It is hard in the beginning of this journey for people to give themselves a compliment, take a complement, and think positively about them selves. I wish you all the luck with the sleeve that I have had! I am half way through my plastics journey, and have a whole different outlook on life right now. I feel so fortunate, and thankful for everything that has happened to me in this journey, and even for the time when I was morbidly obese...because without that experience I would not be the same person I am today, and I would not be so appreciative of everything I have now. Congratulations on making this step towards a better you, happier life, and a healthier one. Hoping for a fast and easy recovery for you! Good luck!

Tummy tuck before and after photos
Wow, you are almost to your goal! That is terrific. I was very fortunate that my insurance covered it or I would probably just now be starting out on this journey, instead of wrapping it up! Try to think positively, somehow everything will work out the way it is supposed to. I never even dared to dream that I was going to be able to get these plastics, and somehow the stars aligned, and my dreams that I didn't dare to dream are now coming true! Lol you look fantastic yourself....btw! Thank you for the wonderful compliments!

I have a question please which seem silly
Yes, they got thinner for me. My ring size was a 10, now it is a 6.5. It is very nice not to have sausage fingers anymore!

Tummy tuck before and after photos
I just uploaded some pictures of my arms, thighs/legs....and some actual pictures of my waist with clothes on. Hoping you all like them!

Can u take to much protein
My understanding of to much protein is that once you hit the amount your body can absorb for the day then it all basically runs through you and really doesn't make any difference. That's what I have read anyways.

Dumping?
I have had two occasions where I experienced this since being sleeved...though not as severe. I did suffer from hyperglycemia prior to losing the weight though, and the doctor attributed those episodes to that.

Strange Kidney Soreness
I am thinking the same thing as the other poster....sounds like you might have some kidney stones. I know our gallbladders are more susceptible to stones because of the incredably low calorie intake...I wonder if we are more susceptible to kidney stones because of weight loss, or the high protein diet? Another possibility...have you been taking a lot of Tylenol lately? Either way you should definitely go get it checked out by the doc. good luck!

tailbone pain anyone?
In a way it does have something to do with posture, because for a while we still walk like we are carrying around all of that extra weight out of habit. I believe it gets better because we start adjusting slowly to our new weight. It is very hard to break habits that we don't even realize that we have! Lol
-
tailbone pain anyone?
Yes, yes, yes! I had this pain starting at about 6 months after surgery. It lasted about 8-9 months...then I guess my dairy- air got used to having less cushion and it went away, so there is hope!

One kidney - I may not be able to have VSG?
I sure hope it doesn't stop you. Perhaps because you donated the kidney and didn't lose it do to health issues will tip the scales in your favor. Either way, wow...I am empressed by your selfless act of kindness to someone in need! I sure hope it helped the recipient!

slow loser
You aren't a slow loser...you are a normal loser. The weight didn't come on overnight, and it will not come off overnight either. You have lost 19 pounds! That is wonderful! Slow and steady wins the race. Stop worrying about the numbers as this will contribute to losing even slower. Stress helps us hold onto weight even more. You will get there. Just be patient! it adds up so quickly and before you know it you will be a skinny mini! good luck!

I am soooo thirsty!
I was quite the beatch! Thankfully my family understood. It is hard going from eating anything you want to drinking all liquids. Hang in there...it does get better!
-
Is it normal?!
Yes, it will take a while before you won't have anymore pain while exercising. Just take it easy, and work your way up to it. I had to take a break from exercising because of a tummy tuck, but soon I will be doing crazy amounts of sit-ups, and crunches to get that six pack going!

I can't believe this is happening!
Congratulations! Once you become a mama it is hard to think about doing anything for yourself. I totally understand this way of thinking. However, this will make a huge impact on your children as well. You will be able to run, jump, and skip with them as they grow up. They will be able to wrap their arms around your waist, and be so proud that they can do that. You have to remember that not only are you doing this to feel better about yourself, but also so that you will be around for them, through graduation, college, marriage, and then when they have babies of their own. The sleeve was the best decision of my life, and soon you will come to realize it is the best decision of yours too! Good luck to you!

2 weeks post op - need advice
Use a medicine cup. Fill it up every half an hour. Sip on it till it is gone...then repeat. If you do this all day, you will be getting the required amount of fluids everyday. Also....as for getting the protein in....it is hard in the beginning...but at Walmart they have these protein shots. They have 27 grams of protein in each one. I would get them really cold....almost frozen, and then drink those. The fruit punch is the best flavor. They aren't the greatest tasting, but that is why I got them really cold. It makes it a lot easier to get the required protein in. Good luck!

Morbidly Obese Toddler Undergoes Gastric Bypass Surgery
I was once at a Burger King with my family....as a treat. We don't frequently allow our children to eat fast food, because it is unhealthy. There was a family there that had two children that were both obese. One of the kids had just finished eating his super sized adult meal, and said to his dad that he was still hungry, so the dad went up to the counter and ordered the kid another adult sized meal! I was floored! It was all I could do not to strange those parents! Because of my genetics I have always been super conscious to male sure that my children always eat healthy food, and to know about portions. I rarely allow junk food in the house, but when I do the kids know that not only do they have to ask before they are allowed to have any, but they also know that they have to get a snack sized baggy to put the junk food into, to make sure they don't eat to much. Some may think I am being to harsh, or overly protective....but I don't want my children to ever be obese. I truly believe it is child abuse to allow your children to constantly eat junk food, and not teaching them about portions and nutrition. In my opinion it is just as bad as providing them with drugs and alcohol. Parents need to wake up about their child's eating habits. This generation is the first one that the life span of adults will be longer then the life span of the kids! That is so sad! It truly is heart breaking!

Best scale
I am a firm believer in not weighing in very often. I measure instead...also I go by how my clothes fit. Those numbers on the s ale can drive you crazy! When you are working out, and eating more protein you can easily not drop any weight, but be losing inches because of exchanging fat for muscle. While a pound of muscle and a pound of fat weigh just that...a pound, the pound of muscle takes up less space, and therefore your number on the scale may be the same, but the size you are can change. I'm not sure if I am making any sense....but that is what I go by. Good luck to you!

Open sleevers?
I decided not to tell anyone. Most people, when they ask me how I lost the weight...which I say, eating a lot less, low calorie, low carb, and high protein ( which is all the truth) usually answer me by saying, " oh I am so glad you did it the right way." I have found out that a lot of people consider having wls as cheating, or losing weight the " wrong way". It is very irritating to me how negative people can be about wls. When someone gets a heart bypass are they cheating by having that surgery? No, they are saving their life! That is how I view wls...it saved my life. I couldn't have gotten healthy without it. I am very happy that I chose to keep it to myself. I really don't think it is anyone's business what surgeries I have had. I am happy that you have had such a positive experience with telling everyone though. Wish I could have been as brave as you!

I am soooo thirsty!
I didn't feel that way pre op...but I sure did post op. I wanted to be able to gulp water down like crazy post op....I have always been a water gulper, and for about 6 months all I could do was sip sip sip. I felt like I was going to go crazy! Thankfully that doesn't last forever, and I can gulp water down again. Just keep drinking as much as you can, it helps you. Good luck with your surgery, and recovery!
-
well well well
You learn pretty quick what not to do with the sleeve! Lol....you will be able to eat that stuff again one day, but for now you got to take it easy! I don't miss that stage of recovery at all! I am two years and one month out now and I have learned ( almost to a science) exactly what I can and cannot handle. I still have so much restriction that it is really easy to maintain my weight. I feel so lucky to have gotten the sleeve. It was the best thing I could have ever done for myself! Good luck to you!

66 Pounds Down!
You are looking fantabulous! Keep up the great work!

Here we go! Would love some wisdom!
I have the same insurance. They changed the requirements since I had my surgery, and now they require a six month supervised diet. The good news is that the surgery didn't cost me a thing. The only thing I had to pay was the $15 dollar copay for doctors visits, which added up to $45 for the whole thing for me. Good luck girl!
