  1. Praying for you Irene. Take good care of yourself and know we are here for you. God Bless you and your family. xoxo
  2. So happy to hear you are sleeved! Yeah, welcome to the loser's bench!! Now the fun begins. I am praying right now that you hold down anything you are able to comsume and that you have a safe and swift recovery!!! God Bless.
  3. I am 18 days out today, funny thing is i guess I been in some kind of warped time zone for I been saying I have been 2 1/2 weeks out for a week now...lol. I am in the same boat, I am not getting enough protein in. I struggle to get 50-60 fluids in also. I know that is not enough. I still am on full liquids and thought I was fairly well. I walked a long while yesterday. I actually finally went to the bathroom. I also thought I would lose, weight, I have been not cheating on anything and now I am up a couple of lbs. Plus my chest hurts also. I won't be discouraged. Take a gas-x, walk and keep going.
  4. I agree with Allformy4 , one other thing. Keep your sodium intake down. It definitly helps with the swelling. I am 2= weeks out and am not ready to exercise yet. I walk but get winded quickly.
  5. Yes , more than a few of us. I was there on Feb. 4th, It was awesome. I was sceptical like you. My husband was like absolutely not!! Well that all changed and it turned out to be the best experience..
  6. I am craving spinich. When I go to mushy stage is spinich or turnip greens exceptable? Even canned spinich sounds good right now. lol
  7. Praying for you right now. I admire the way you chose to be optimistic. You will be sure to heal faster with that attitude. God Bless you and keep us posted!
  8. I am so glad I found this topic! I refuse to get discouraged. I have educated myself enough on this forum to know that if you eat right and implement excerise when possible that you will lose weight. I must say, I could easilyget quite down about it, if I did not know better. I was sleeved 2/04. Counting pre op diet I went down as much as 28 lbs. This entire last week which would mean a 1 1/2 weeks out, I been up and down the same 3 lbs. I got as low as 202 and now sit today at 204. It is a bummer. I am done weighing myself daily, to much anxiety about it. I will start with once a week and if that does not work then once a month.
  9. Great idea.... I am also thankful for that also, I second that one!!!
  10. I could not be happier for you. Hopefully one day you will not have to be regretful. I will continue to pray for you . (((((HUGS))))))
  11. That is awesome, encouraging also. I never liked working out but now that I am sleeved look forward to it.
  12. Hi, I was sleeved 2+ weeks ago. I had a lot of the same questions and honestly it is all differently for each of us. So that being said, try to look at it in a broader sense. What I did is set myself up for a no fail envirorment. I did not tell anyone either, except for my husband. When it comes to work, arrange for the MOST time off as possible, just incase. Before surgery keep your sodium intake down that will help with swelling after surgery, which inturn will help you to be able to drink more fluids and pain is less. Your energy level is going to change. Maybe not drasitcally but there will be days you just have to sleep. I would think more of a reason you can come up with that excuses these things so your employer does not question them, ex: I have a personal issue at home, my iron level is low, feeling ememic, I haven't been able to sleep well at nite lately. When someone asks what it is say I would rather not talk about it. I would definetly not take the chance and drive myself 3 1/2 hours after surgery. You do not even need to take the chance with that one. I would do whatever it took to not do that. I thought I recovered very well, and EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT but I just started driving a day or so ago b/c when I tried I felt it stressing my lower abdomen. That scared me and I got out of the car. I wasn't ready. My point, set yourself up for the worst scenerios. So if any of your concern surface you are covered. If they don't you have the freedom to change it. A really good thing about getting surgery this time of year is that you will be completely healed by the most of the holiday season. You might have to miss out on one, Easter but you still will be able to enjoy it. July 4th, you will be eating BBQ ..lol. Be positive. You are going to do great. I wll be praying for you. Also, keep in touch. Stay on and let us know how you do.
  13. Good for you, that is awesome!
  14. My heart goes out to you along with some prayers. When feeling down , do what you have been doing , give back. YOU help so many of us on here. In times of struggle to endure it is always helpful to give what you are needing. Do you know what I mean.. That does not mean do not take time for yourself but fill your time knowing your are needed and valued. (Right here with us!!!)
  15. Your working towards an hour glass figure. You look great!!!!
  16. I played with the idea for years but never felt comfortable with the bypass at all. I also was living a fantasy for there was no way I could of ever afford it in the states. When a guest came in to my job and told me she had the sleeve done. I found this site and saved every nickle, dime and penny. I never looked back and knew it was for me. From the time she told me till the time I was flying to Mexico was around 4 months.
  17. "I was watching "Ruby" the other night and she was having her Women's Fat Night group each share a healthy eating tip with the group. " I thought Ruby went off the air?
  18. You poor baby I feel soooooo bad for you. Your in my prayers.
  19. Hi , so sorry for all you discomfort. I must say it does get and fast. One thing that I hear in your post is it sounds like your very good at finding solutions, which means that you prepared yourself. I have seen a lot of others not be so fortunate. I am almost 3 weeks out and I must say everyday have been easier past a week. I was uncomfortable, especially getting things down but as you said everyone heals differently. I thought I would be one of those that do not handle anesthesia well, that was my experience with childbirth and a hysterectomy but for some reason not with this, thank GOD!!! One thing I believe really has helped me is that I was told a long time ago to watch my sodium. That has totally helped with my swelling and I believe has helped my esophogus and my new tummy to heal. Keep doing what your doing and this stage will only be a mere memory very soon.
  20. You have come a long way, good for you. Keep it up!!!! Congrats.
  21. I am 2.5 weeks out. I recall that feeling. You are going to do wonderful. Drink tons of water from now on and stay really low on the sodium (gatorade, ect.) from this point. Someone pointed that out to me and I believe that made all the difference in how much I swelled which in turn help with how sore I wasn't. I was obviously still in pain but I have had surgery before and never considered that and found this much easier swelling wise. I will be praying for you.

On so many levels I relate to your story. I must say, some of which before I was sleeved could never verbalize or have the confidence to share. One that comes to mind, is several years ago while cleaning someones house this little innocent boy said to me "Are you a boy or a girl?" I said "You really don't know?" and he said "No, your fat is in the way". He was not a mean kid he was sincere. I recall the feeling of utter aloneness, isolation from life. I have always felt stuck inside myself and every attempt at trying to lose weight and months at the gym felt like mountian climbing. The sleeve gives me hope of slow and steady. I no longer look for a maricle, my is within me. Thank you God for giving my hope back. He never lets us down! I am only 2+ weeks out I have no remorse. MY tiny tummy given , was truly God sent!
  23. I welcome you and respect your thoughts on staying in the States. However, I was a self pay and went to MX (my husband accompanied me) and I had a wonderful experiece the entire time. Not once was I afraid, in bad hands or felt not cared for, matter of fact, it was a better experience than I could of imagined and I was taking care of better than I have ever been in any hospital here. Good qualified surgeons in MX have done many many of these surgeries and are quite experienced. I felt the same way as you did at one time. There was NO WAY I would travel to a foreign country for any reason. I ran out of options and so glad I did. I was hopeless, discouraged and very depressed. Today I am 2 weeks out and feel great, healthy and look forward to the future. Surgery cost $5500.00 including everything except airfare. Just saying.... if you do not have much hope don't rule it out because of fear. There is a forum on here that pertains to traveling to MX, check it out.
