RobinGirl got a reaction from DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in One Month Bandiversary!
Today is my one month bandiversary!!!!! I am doing great and moving into regular foods. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. I have an appointment with my doctor on Friday and I am hoping for a fill as my will power is about to run out. I'm down 20 pounds and I am so happy with my progress so far. Here's to another 75 to go!

RobinGirl reacted to kbliss78 in Trying To Decide - Does It Really Stop Your Hunger??
I beleive it has helped my hunger tremendously. I am not so hungry and when I eat I dont feel like I am in a panic. I eat slower and easily turn the rest away. This has never happened for me. It does take 3 - 5 fills to get to that point so the beginning is difficult and requires patiences.
I dont have to think about dieting as much and the daily obsession and thoughts are gone. I use to wake up telling myself today I would eat good. Then I would be hunry and eat a Breakfast taco at 9ish and feel like I was failing so then I would eat a big lunch and by the end of the day I had totally messed up. Now I eat less and at the end of the day, if I think about my meals, I am suprised how little I ate. The first 6 weeks I logged everything I ate but now that I am in the green zone, I havent logged as much b/c my meals are where they need to be and I am not snacking.
I love my band so much. I am scared of future complications with the band. But I hope it just doesnt happen. Most complications are induced by patient non-complaince with the rules. Other surgeries dont require such dedication to rules and the fill process is not needed. However, they alter you anatomy forever. I am happy that all of my body parts function just as they did before. I just eat less, am hungry less, and I eat slower.
    Hope that helps.

I think what she meant was, because you have so little in your band the weight you lost was because of your willpower not restriction, That's not at all saying you were wrong to get the band- it's hard to be banded without restriction and she was likely just complementing you for losing despite it.
    Restriction with the band is:
-Only eating a cup of food or less, and that's enough
-going 4-5 hours between meals without being hungry
    -losing weight
I am guessing, with only 1cc in your band, you aren't experiencing the first two yet. That's all the nutrionist was referring to,
You're not doing anything wrong at all- just hang in there until you do have restriction

We haven't banned a member on here in a few years. I think that's about to change. This is my LAST warning. Read the ****ing RULES please!!! I don't care who started or who ended it.
    LapBandTalk Community Guidelines
The basic ground rules for discussions on LapBandTalk are simple: be polite, use common sense, don't break the law and don't post any message that even hints at advertising.
We don't intend to censor messages based on the opinions expressed within posts, but we will enforce the policies outlined both here and on the Forum. We reserve the right to remove, modify or move posts at our discretion and without explanation. Please contact us if you do not understand any of the rules, guidelines or policies outlined below.
Although the administrators and moderators of LapBandTalk will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of LapBandTalk will be held responsible for the content of any message.
By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws.
The owners of LapBandTalk reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.
Suspension of your account is a definite consequence of not adhering to these guidelines.
    LapBandTalk Posting Guidelines
    1. Everyone has a right to speak regardless of their perspective.
    2. We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously. We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning.
    3. While we believe in free speech, keep in mind that this right is not absolute. Dissent is an essential part of any discussion where people are encouraged to express varying opinions; however, it is equally important to maintain both decorum and topicality as related to LapBandTalk.com's mission.
    4. Obscenity and pornography will not be tolerated. If that's what you're after, there are plenty of places on the Internet to find it, and this forum isn't one of them. Please make sure all opinions are expressed without being obscene or offensive.
    5. Members will treat each other with courtesy and respect, especially when they disagree. We understand that bright, intelligent and educated people may not always agree, but personal attacks in the form of insults, abusive language or other means of obvious harassment will not be tolerated.
    - Do not attack, mock, or otherwise insult others. You can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but you cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the user's spelling or command of written English, or belittling a user for posting a duplicate topic.
    - If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, you will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself or a friend is not an excuse! Do not take matters into your own hands – instead, use the Report Post link to report an attack and we will be happy to handle the situation for you.
    6. Our focus is on weight loss surgery support. While any discussion is subject to going off on a tangent, we will do our best to consistently maintain topicality. Editing, moving or deleting off-topic content will only occur when it's necessary to redirect focus to the core topic(s) and values of this community.
    7. Don't report other people's experiences as truth. Share your own experiences, thoughts, opinions, theories at will.
    8. Please take the really personal discussions to PM or e-mail.
    9. Do not publicly post an email or private message from any other LapBandTalk user, moderator or administrator at any time.
    10. Do Not Publish Private Contact Information. For your safety, do not post personal information such as telephone numbers, emails, mailing addresses, instant messenger ids, etc.
    11. Advertising, Self-Promotion, Fund-Raising, Direct marketing or selling is forbidden on LapBandTalk. Members may use their signatures to indicate a commercial affiliation by including a single link to a web site of their choice, with no more than one line of explanation in addition. This signature text is not to exceed the default font size of forum posts (size=2).
    - You may not post any links or mentions of other services, websites, or businesses from which you or an associate might benefit financially or otherwise. You also may not solicit off-Forum contact from which you might benefit, e.g. "message me for more info", "I can get you free samples", etc.
    - Requests or solicitations for donations are also not allowed. This includes requesting contributions to "pooled fund" competitions, requests for votes in any venue (online contests, etc.), and even requests for charitable contributions. As you can imagine, we have a lot of people who would like to raise money for worthy causes through the site. As much as we'd like to support these causes, if we were to allow requests for donations, the forums would quickly become full of such requests which would take away from the main purpose of the forums - to support one another.
    - Posts or messages to members promoting websites that compete with LapBandTalk are also prohibited.
    12. Recommendations or reviews of surgeons, hospitals, products, or services are welcome if based on the reviewer's personal experience. The reviewer must have no financial interest in the subject being reviewed. Violations will result in the posts being removed and a possible permanent ban of membership.
    13. You are permitted a maximum of one account/username, active or inactive. If you choose to ignore this important restriction, all your accounts will be disabled. If you have forgotten your log in details and are unable to retrieve them via the system, do not create a new account, please contact us. LapBandTalk allows one account per member and one member per account.
    14. Cross-Posting is not allowed here. Cross-posting refers to posting new duplicate threads or posts, or the linking to threads or posts already started by the member with the intention of gaining exposure. Please choose the most appropriate forum or group for your post and post it once. Posting the same message to multiple boards or multiple groups is a form of spam. Please note that this is NOT a guideline against inadvertently posting a question another member has asked before. We explicitly allow members to post questions that have been asked previously by other members. If you see a member post a topic that you think has been asked before by another member, please respond politely or simply move on. However, the same member cannot ask the same question or post the same topic more than once.
    15. No Hi-Jacking Topics. Please stay on-topic within a forum topic. Off-topic or derogatory remarks are disrespectful. Please either contribute politely and constructively to a topic, or move on without posting. This includes posts that encourage the drama in a topic to escalate.
    16. Show Respect to All Groups and Individuals. No derogatory references to sex, gender, ethnicity, religions, or sexual orientation, or endorsement of violence against any person or group, even if couched in humor, will be permitted. This includes expressing stereotypes about any group or community.
    17. We reserve the right to respond to violations of these guidelines by blocking and/or banning members from this forum
    18. When you post to this forum, you offer to us a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to use your content as we see fit. We may use, distribute, display and/or create derivative works from this content, in any and all media, in any manner, in whole or in part, without any restriction or responsibilities to you.
    19. Members accept all responsibility for their words. This includes any personal information a user chooses to make public. All members understand that forums may be viewed by non-members. This forum cannot be responsible for the distribution of any information intentionally posted by a user.
    20. When using this forum, you agree that we cannot be and are not responsible for the truth, completeness, objectivity or usefulness of any user-generated content, nor do we endorse any content, including, but not limited to, postings or replies to postings made by members who are moderators.
    21. We do nothing to verify member identities. You assume all risk in your use of information from other members.
    22. While we reserve the right to do so, we do not pre-screen, monitor, edit or review member-generated content. However, we may monitor content and remove it at any time and without notice. We will do this if content violates these guidelines or we believe it will improve our community. We also will suspend or terminate forum access to those individuals who violate these guidelines.
    23. No Profane, Vulgar, Sexually Explicit or Illegal Images. All images on the site, including all profile pictures and images posted in the forums, should be work-place friendly. While we reserve the right to remove any photo we feel is inappropriate, here are some partial guidelines as to what is not acceptable:
    - no nudity
    - no underwear, thongs, g-strings, or banana hammocks
    - no photos in which hands or objects are the only bodily covering
    - no excessive cleavage (if you would wear it to work, it's probably OK)
    - no close-up shots of cleavage, butt, breasts or crotch in any state of dress
    - no hateful or violent imagery
    - no images containing profanity

If you are photographing yourself to demonstrate successful weight loss, tight fitting spandex is a great way to show the change in your shape, while still abiding by these guidelines.
If you have a concern about any post, alert the moderators by using the Report Post button.
Violation of These Guidelines May Lead to Disciplinary Action. We reserve the right to delete or lock topics, to disable the posting privileges of any member, or to deny anyone use of our site at anytime, for any reason, at our discretion without warning or notice. Conversely, we reserve the right to dismiss a reported post if we find it does not violate a guideline.

So yesterday was my son's birthday party. I made sure to watch what I ate during the day to allow myself some cake last night. With sooooo much cake left over I was fretting last night before I went to bed about having it in the house and was questioning my will power.
Well this morning I woke up...and it was covered in ants!!! After throwing the whole thing out then cleaning and spraying...I was smiling! Problem solved!

Been a while since I visited here...have my reasons, mainly I find it tiresome after a while, mainly dealing with the self proclaimed experts....
    However....
Thought I would give a report, especially for the newbies.
I go to the gym 5 days a week at 5:30 in the morning.
I run for 30 minutes (3 miles), do 45 minutes of weights, then finish the workout with 20-30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical.
It took me one year to reach my goal, total weight loss of 90 lbs. That was 7 months ago, and I am still loosing although very slowly now.
Your body will stop loosing when it feels it is ready to.
I do not count calories, measure or weigh portions. I eat when I am hungry, which is not often. I do not deny myself the little pleasures in life like Desserts, ice cream, alcohol, including beer, etc, etc.
I do get my daily requirements of Protein, Water, Vitamins, amino acids, anti oxidants, etc, etc, with little or no problem every day.
There are days when I just don't feel like eating at all, so i don't force it.
I am not a believer in the "Starvation Mode" I have/had enough fat and glycogen stored away to use as energy, and that is what I did.
All this from a man who is 60 years old, have had one heart attack that I know of, had cardiac surgery due to coronary artery disease, had diabetes that is now completely gone, had loss of circulation in lower limbs with loss of sensation (feeling) which is now a thing of the past, cholesterol, triglycerides, everything is now well within normal range.
Had my stress test a few weeks back and the cardiologist could not believe he was looking at the same person.
My blood work (lab results) are straight down the middle normal in every category.
The band controls my eating and hunger entirely. It is NOT a tool, something that I can control. It is something that is there, constant, doing what it was designed to do.
People are afraid to go to picnics, parties, etc for fear of what I'm not sure.
I cannot overeat no matter how hard I try. Does not matter what food you put in front of me, the band will allow just so much then that's it.
I went on a cruise a few weeks ago and I did everything I can to eat/enjoy as much as I can...Impossible! I lost weight!
I do not get stuck, slimed, etc anymore. It has been a long time since that has happened. There was a phase, when transitioning into the "Green Zone" that I got stuck sometimes 2-3 times a day.
But once I learned my lessons, learned how to eat like a "Skinny" person, I broke through to the other side and life has been normal ever since.
The "New Normal" as my surgeon calls it.
My only advice to newbies is to work the band for all it's worth. Don't settle for second best, something just to get by. Demand everything you have always expected.
I make no excuses for my success and my new life...why should I care what others think? It's me they're going to put in the ground someday...then where will the critics be....I have achieved everything I ever hoped and dreamed this surgery can do for me.
I was once a fat person, so i know what denial and excuses are all about....
So you may see why I don't visit here all that much any more....

No disrespect intended, but................. to me looking "better" is just one of the many bonus's we all got with the band. Yes, we all got banded to get slimmer and healthier, but if you're going to lose excess weight you kind of have to expect that you're going to look "better." That just goes with the territory ! Diamonds rings are nice looking but when you have them cleaned and polished, they look even better ! Nothing wrong with the diamond in the first place, it just looks better when its polished. Well honey....................... you're a diamond too !!!!

I'm completely aware of how bad I looked prior to starting the weight loss journey. When people make this comment to me, I am genuinely happy to hear that the change is noticeable to others. Compliments are compliments in my book. Saying you look BETTER isn't necessarily saying you looked horrible before, just that there's a difference, and we all honestly know there is.

I'm on day 3 post op and I'm doing great. The gas in my shoulders is almost gone and I'm getting around pretty good. The funny thing is that my tummy sounds like a monster lives in it. It growls and gurgles constantly. I'm keeping up on my Protein Drinks (about 80 Protein grams/ day) and lots of other fluids. Last night I was able to resume normal "movements" so I'm not holding anything in. I just find the constant gurgling and growling funny. Even my dog noticed it. LOL

Thanks for the info. I have a chihuahua and a boxer (they are the best of friends). I've got a doggy door for them so I don't have to worry about letting them out or walking them. Even though the chi doesn't bother using it except to bark at the neighbors ) She'll go potty outside if she "happens" to be outside when the mood strikes her.

RobinGirl reacted to ShrnkN2 in 1St Day Post Op...what Have I Done?!
Welcome to the band world! The first couple of weeks I had a couple mental break downs. Sobbed like a little baby at times... asking myself the same thing. "What the hell did I get myself into? Why do I go through something so extreme to be "normal" or healthy? This isn't fair? Did I make the right choice? Is something wrong? Am I supposed to be feeling like this?"
Girl... I can't even tell you how much I cried. I still do at times because it's not easy. I was banded Feb 16, 2011. It was the best decision I've ever made for myself. It's been the hardest thing too. People think that weight loss surgery is the easy way out... in my opinion, getting the lap band is one of the hardest. I've retrained my body into thinking whats right and wrong. Without the lap band I wouldn't know the difference between my Protein intake and my Fiber intake
Bottom line is everyone take this journey in their own little way. You have to be careful. Once you get to your 3rd or 4th fill you'll prob start feeling restriction. Like I said, everyone is different though. Up until my 4th fill I didn't have any restriction... I thought something was wrong because if I chose to, I could have eaten everything in front of my face (like I used to).c:-D
I wish you the best of luck with everything. We are here for you, ALWAYS!
