I'm here! 2.8 loss for me this week. Still lots of gassy tummy pains and feeling super full. Waiting for it all to get better. Keep passing the times people said it got better for them.

Sept 24th check in
nice loss this week for me 3.4, I'm pretty happy. I am able to get just a smidge more calories in and some more protein in - still very far from my goals but sure better than I was.

How long did you wait to drive?
My discharge papers said no driving while on pain meds so I drove the day after I came home - I only took tylenol after day 2 in the hospital.

HOW can u possibly get 60+grams of Protein without supplements??

Need Help with Protein Please...
We are having the same issue!! I will say one thing I could tolerate Protein in is hot chocolate - I get the diet swiss miss and use beneprotein. Now I am out of that and need to try it with one of the other unflavored protein's I have - the beneprotein mixed well if you can get that near you and I couldn't taste it in the hot chocolate. Also when I saw my nutritionist last week she told me I was imposing too many rules on myself - otherwise I was FOLLOWING THEIR RULES and not getting what I needed so I needed to BREAK THEIR RULES!! She told me it was ok to lick a spoon of Peanut Butter all day and still drink. She said if I needed to drink, do it. I have been doing better than I was. Today so far I have 20 protein in at breakfast! How exciting! 3 pieces of bacon and a carnation instant breakfast. I don't think the milk agreed though so we'll see if I can do that again. I can do greek yogurt but not everyday. I do the cheese sticks, mozzarella is the highest. Maybe you could nibble on a few of those? I know your doc says 3 meals, period. But we have to do what we need to during early stage so we don't get our bodies in trouble - we are still swollen and like you said just not able to take much in at a time.

I might have screwed up the whole thing!
My understanding is there isn't a failure so much as there is more visits required.

Having Major Second Thoughts
I think most programs expect you to get to a point where you don't need the protein shakes. The pre-op diet is for a couple weeks at the most. I take b12 in a sublingual form, I think the shots would be if you get low. What were you told you can never have again? I have heard soda/carbonation and alcohol. I have seen lots of people on the boards who either incorporate these in to everyday life or special occasions.

you are doing GREAT!!

Denied AGAIN with BCBSIL
Did you send more info or your Dr? I have heard of people writing a letter detailing everything themselves, not just what was discussed but what you did yourself - the Dr can write "Patient followed Weight Watchers" but you writing a letter noting the fact that you went to meeting for 6 straight months and lost X weight as well as walking on a daily basis or whatever seems like it would go a long way.

Hi! I didn't know this forum was here!!!
So glad to hear from you!! I am so glad I haven't craved my diet coke - I quit caffeine all together at least a month before surgery so I guess my cravings are gone

Kipepeo I don't see a problem with it! Feel free to even make an individual post each day or a weekly thread for yourself - however, I always check the August forum!!

August 2011 sleevers get in here!!!!!!
Hi Mike - just to let you know we have started a weekly check in thread that is posted each Saturday in the August 2011 forum too - it's been going on for 2 weeks yesterday. I have lost almost 24 since surgery. I am really struggling with Protein as so far no shakes agree with me and I became lactose intolerant. I can't get in the calories I am supposed to either, I suppose that has to do with the shakes as well. I'll be 6 weeks out tomorrow.

Sept 17th check in
Hi everyone! 4.6 loss for me this week weighing in at 189.6. I was basically told this week up my calories and Protein or get a feeding tube in 3 weeks so I am trying! It might require me nibbling on cheese sticks or Peanut Butter all day but somehow I will get there. Just so frustrating. I am happy with the weight loss but at what cost? Hope everyone else is doing great!

2.5 weeks out and tired
Are you getting your protein in? How are your calories? Mine are both in the toliet and I am tired and I know that is why. Also, are you taking your vitamins? What sort of vitamins are you taking?
-
seriously.....HELP!
Do you see your nutritionist? I am 5 weeks out and am in a very similar spot. I was just told if I don't turn it around in 3 weeks they willl put a feeding tube in. I can't do the shakes but she did give me some ideas - I have the ok for Protein bars, protein Jello (apparently at GNC), she told me I can nibble all day long on Protein Bar, cheese, yogurt, Peanut Butter and continue to drink if I need to. I know it's all against the rules but she told me I need to be doing anything I can.
-
Share of Cost???? what does this mean?
When I was on it years ago they called it a spend down - basically you have to spend that amount first before you have coverage that month. So it's sort of like a monthly deductible. If that happens to be the same thing.

HOW can u possibly get 60+grams of Protein without supplements??
I just posted a similar topic in the nutrition forum. I am to the point where very little tastes good and I struggle all day long.
-
where do you fit your protein in? how do you get calories?
I am completely freaked out. I basically have been threatened with a feeding tube if I don't turn it around in 3 weeks. I can't do the protein shakes at all, the smell makes me nauseous and when i drink them my heart starts racing and my blood pressure shoots up. I am supposed to be getting 60-80 grams of protein and 800-1000 calories a day - I am getting 25 grams of protein and 200-300 calories a day. I have been told I can nibble all day on a protein bar or peanut butter if that helps and continue to drink. She wants me to still some how work in another 2-3 servings of unflavored protein plus get my calories up. I am just so stressed.
