  1. I never thought about the thrill you would get from losing weight, and that every time you jump on the scales is like Christmas. Even if I'm having a stall (like I've done twice already now) I still don't feel the agony I felt before surgery when I got on the scales.I've lost almost 50 lbs in less than 2 months, thats the best present I've ever given myself. And it's alot like having a baby, you quickly forget all the pain and suffering and would go through it again in a heartbeat!
  2. I use it on my cell phone most of the time and to change it on there, go to the circle at the top right and click on it, then go to edit profile. Under the preferences on that page, click on net calorie goal then you can put in whatever you want for your calories. On the website, be on the home tab and click on goals. At the bottom of that page click on the green change goals button. On the next page, click the custom button. On that next page you can change all of your goals for everything-fat, calories, carbs and exercise.
  3. I know when my dad had his gallbladder out, he had a severe allergic reaction to the stuff that they sealed off his bile duct with. His incision was weeping pus and was all red and infected. Keep an eye on it no matter what the doctor's say, it could be an allergic reaction on the inside. They let my dad's go for a week before they opened him back up and had to clean all the infection out, and he almost didn't make it after all that. Hope it get's better!!
  4. You have to be one strong person to still be sane after all of that! You will appreciate this amazing surgery even more after all the waiting...praying for patience for you!!
  5. The weekend at work went really good, but the best part was when I weighed myself this morning and realized my stall was over!! I took alot of different things with me to eat and snack on, but I didn't eat hardly any of it. At least it's there and I can have something when I need it, I was in surgery for almost 5 hours, and that's the first time since my surgery that I actually felt hungry. I was dying of thirst too... I survived, and thanks for all the tips!
  6. I started out at 272 a month before surgery, and was at 258 on the day of surgery on October 14th. So I lost 14 lbs with the 2 week pre-op diet (which I will admit I wasn't very faithful with) and now I'm at 227 this morning! That's 31 lbs since surgery and 45 lbs total in about 7 weeks. I'm 2 lbs away from my first goal that I set for myself, which was my pre-quitting smoking weight. I can't believe that I have gotten this far this fast...it's amazing!! And I just realized that I'm 8.5 lbs away from being halfway to my surgeon's goal weight for me!! HECK YA!!
  7. My eczema is better too!! I had it all over my chest and it had made discolored Patches all over my chest...I got out of the shower just last week and realized they were gone! I have no idea how long they've been gone, but that's the least of my worries lol I do have the break outs on my face and neck, but I was prepared for that to happen. The eczema clearing up was a extreme bonus!!!
  8. My surgeon told me that the xray contrast that they give you to drink for your leak test gives you diarrhea, I had it pretty bad for the first couple of weeks. I wouldn't take the anti-diarrhea medicines either, you'll get the other effect if you're not careful!! I had bloody bowel movements and alot of gassy diarrhea, but eventually it went away. It's still better than constipation right now for you...ugh, that would hurt! Good luck!!
  9. I'd call your surgeon and have him give you some ideas on what to take for the pain. Even better, have him fax a list of no-no medications to your family doctor so they will have it on file for the future. I haven't needed any other medicines other than the pain medicine they sent me home with, so I really don't know, but I'd start with the surgeon first. They'd be the best one's to ask!
  10. My question is what are some of your tips on being sleeved and surviving in the real world?? How do you guys resist the temptations? It's Christmas time too, so there will be Cookies and candies everywhere at work. I work at a hospital, and man do we like to eat. I just don't want to set myself up for failure. I'm planning on bringing my own lunch and keeping Snacks in my locker, but I wanted to know if there were any little tricks anyone has for keeping sane. I was sleeved 7 weeks ago tomorrow, and I go back to work this weekend and I'm scared to flipping death!! I've lived in my little protective cocoon for the last 7 weeks with all of my good little foods in nice little proportions around me, with the ability to resist alot of the temptation just because I wasn't around the "bad" stuff. And if I was around something that I didn't need, I had my hubby there to tell me not to eat it (he's kinda like your conscience on your shoulder-subtle but still there lol). I already had one slip up when I went black Friday shopping with my sister. I drank a million calorie hazelnut latte frappe something something coffee drink that was AMAZING but had me feeling so guilty! My sister felt pretty bad (she bought it) but I can't have someone holding my hand the whole time. Maybe it's my own fear of incompetence, but I need HELP!!
  11. I'm still pretty new to this whole process, only about 7 weeks out, but I've ran into the eating out thing alot in the past few weeks. We've only had a problem with the fact that I still can't eat some things (like steak, I want a freaking juicy steak soooo bad!! Lol, talk about all in your head) but I usually split something with my hubby. We went to Applebee's a couple of weeks ago and we split a chicken ravioli something or other, and I ate a couple of the strips of grilled chicken and a chunk of my daughter's slider burger (just the burger part) and that was way more than enough for me. Another ackward thing is your drink at a restaurant. Because if I order one, I'm going to drink on it before the meal, and I really can't get all tanked up before a meal! I look weird saying I don't want one, but oh well. I sipped a little bit of the hubby's tea. I did have the SWEETEST thing ever happen though, and it caught me off guard. We went to a burger joint to get the kids something to eat, and my oldest daughter (a very quiet, gentle kid) pipes up and asks me what I want to split with her for supper! Shocked me!! We split a cheeseburger (I tore a chunk of her burger patty off and ate just that) and it was pretty nice being thought of like that. Now that I'm supremely off subject, the only thing that really bothers me post-sleeve is the acid reflux. And I've been assured by my surgeon that it will get better with time. I take 2 protonix daily and I'm still popping Tums left and right...which makes me worry about the kidney stones others were talking about. My face went cold when I read that!! I've had to have them removed before because they were so big, and they can make childbirth look like a walk in the park. I will pray daily now that I won't get them!!! I haven't had alot of problems with the cold part yet, but my hormones are in such an uproar because of the weight loss that I don't think my internal thermastat has a hope or a prayer LOL. Such is life, it will get better.
  12. Thanks so much for giving the info...I checked my subligual B12 complex and there isn't ANY B1 in it, and I checked my Centrum chewables and it says that it has 1.5 mg of Thiamin in it for 100%...but up above they said 500 mg?!? Vitamins are sooo confusing to me!! Good luck with it, and glad you are feeling better!
  13. It seemed like forever for me to go through the whole process of getting approved, but all in all after they turned it over to my insurance company it only took a couple of days for them to say yes. My surgeon's office made sure that I had all the stuff done and in order before they even turned it in so that it wouldn't get denied. Good luck!!
  14. Courtines!! I'm an xray/ultrasound tech and I did the SAME thing! Lol just thought that was funny!
  15. Crystal Light lemonade is pretty potent also!! I have weird cravings for milk, I take a couple of drinks and I'm over it. Maybe because I need protein?
  16. I am one month out now, and I have a follow-up appointment with my surgeon next week, but I'm wondering which type of exercise is good when you're at my stage in the game?? I liked Zumba before surgery, but I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet??? I've been walking since the surgery, but I don't feel like that's enough. What have you guys done that seemed to work?? My doctor is pretty evasive, and I don't know if he will give me some ideas on which type of exercises to do....Thanks!!! :purplebananna:
  17. I'm still waiting to "find" my neck, but it's one of the things that I'm looking forward to the most. I hate looking at the pictures of me or catching my reflection and seeing my massive double chin. Congrats on finding your neck!! Great job!!
  18. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out, and I've been finding myself having the same problems. Not really knowing that I'm full and wanting to or eating all the time. I hope this goes away!! I'm like you though, keep waiting to feel "full". All I feel is the lower esophagus stuff, and I've been getting reflux pretty bad too. I'm craving answers too Chris!!
  19. They were giving me Cream of Wheat in the hospital and telling me to eat scrambled eggs a week and a half out. I guess every surgeon is different.
  20. This may sound like a stupid question, but I really don't know what a slider food is?? Any answers??
  21. I'm 3 weeks out, and I still have REALLY bad gurgling in my stomach. Nothing painful or anything, just loud and embarrassing lol!
  22. Syntrax also makes a protein powder called Twisted Cherry that tastes like kool-aid to me, and it's mixed with water. There are several other flavors in there too, and you can order sample sizes online to see if you like it.
  23. Hershey's does make Sugar Free Chocolate bars-the little guys-and they also have ones with Caramel in them!! Just saying....(and they're really stinking good too!)
