Long time ago i heard something and it always stuck. The smoking thing is a much easier battle to win cause you can stop it and not have to be around it or do it again, you cant STOP eating. you must eat to live. So not like you can just lay down food walk away to never return. So that makes it so hard. I was a very slim person till i had my first son and since then got larger and larger. Lost weight a few times but always after a bit went back to my old ways and gained it back. I cant do this without help. THe band is the help i have been looking for. I been wanting it for years but i had a job where the insurance would not pay. I switched Jobs in July. My insurance kicked in Aug and by Sept i was at the surgeons Office. This is so important to me.

TWI i was looking at your ticker 35 lbs is nothing to sneeze at.. that is fantastic. Especially since your surgery was just 2 weeks ago.

Congrats ScorpioLady. I am a tiny bit jealous. Wish mine was April but sounds like mine wil be in May. Waiting on insurance approval. I am also a Scorpio. I toally understand the taking control.

OMG from a 20 to 14 in 2 mos that is fantastic. I cant wait till that is me. You guys are such inspirations to me. If i could have my band done tomorrow i would be there with bells on. But i guess gotta wait till May. My birthday is Halloween and i really want to have a big change by then. Get a cute costume for once. Not try to get one that covers me from head to toe like i have in the past. I Know sounds silly but i am really looking to that as a goal. I keep sitting around thinking ok if i get my band in May thats 5 mos should be a total new me by then. I wont be at Goal but heading that way i am sure.

Ty guys for all the answers. I dont take it everyday even though i am suppose to. So i am hoping a few lbs plus the fact winter is almost over I can do without it and just take tylenol. Going to stock up on liquid. As for the metformin I am not Diabetic but insulin resistant so I am going to talk to my dr. I may once the surgery is done go off it totally. If not I can switch to victoza which is an injection.

I have Arthritis in my Knees and Ankle. I take a med called Vivmove for it. Which contains and NSIDS. I am aware after surgery i wont be able to take NSIDS nor would i be able to take this pill related to its size. I am also on Metformin but I think i can cut that pill into enough small pieces to take. My question is does anyone else out there have any suggestions to help with the Arthritis pain after surgery. I know that losing the weight is the best thing for my ankle and knees but since that wont happen over night i need to figure out something to do.

The five dollars is a great idea too. I figure I can always play with or rub the charms if i need to controll my desire to eat. Sorta like the rubberband on the wrist idea for stop smoking.

Good luck. I to hope to get a May surgery date. Waiting on my approval for insurance which i wont get till April. My surgeon said once i have that wont take but a few weeks to get my surgery. I am so excited and hate waiting.

Does anyone out there reward yourself with gifts for weight loss. If so what do you use. I always do better if there is some incentive. So I have decided that I will gift myself with a Pandora Braclet for the weight loss. One charm for each 20 lbs. That way i can wear it all the time and remind myself the journey i am going to be on.

Congrats. I am waiting on insurance approval seems i wont get to do mine till May. So right now i am filling in the time reading the bandwagon book and trying to get myself into gear to change.

Congrats to you all. I to cant wait for my day. I am looking at Mid may if the insurance company approves me the first time around. I do hope so i have done everything required and meet all the critieria they have set forth.

Pollyanna gave great advice. You also if you have insurance could check out to see if they cover it and what requirements are for the coverage. The biggest hardest part of anything is taking that first step... Good luck!

According to the policy i read if your over 40 bmi then you dont need comorbidities. My bmi is 41 and i have hypertension as well as I am insulin resistant which counts if i am not wrong as Diabieties. I am really still hoping to be approved at least by mid april so i can get a May surgery date. Keep fighting it though. My surgeon has a Lawyer that sends letters to the insurance to fight for you if you get denied.

Ty guys for the encouragement. Ladybug I keep telling myself that it must be when God wishes me to have the band but even though in my heart i know that I cant stop feeling disappointed. I sit all the time and think to myself I will be such and such lbs smaller by my birthday etc.. And 2 or 3 weeks is alot of time i could be loosing. I know it will happen cause i am not going to give up till it does but feel sad that its not going to be as fast as i wish.

I to have to be approved before i get a Date. But they talked today like as soon as i am approved with in weeks i can have my surgery. They do preop one week on a friday then follow up with the surgeon on Wen then go in the next wen for my surgery. It seems like it wlll be in May for me which is disappointing cause i thought i would be approved by april. I so want to get this done and get my life started.

I have been on the WellCare plan for 5 mos. Last phone calls i had was them telling me they would call me back the first week of March to tell me what i need to have in my foods and med cabinet for my surgery. So i felt that by the middle of March i would be approved and on my way. Today i found out that they are not even going to summit my Wellcare part till the last of March and then it has to go through like 3 steps before i get approved. So here i was thinking by the last week of April i would be banned and well on my way now it seems it will be May. I know ppl keep telling me thats just a few weeks but to me it seems like a lifetime. I am just really discouraged with the wait. I have wanted this for years and now i am having to wait yet again

I am also sick and tired of having clothes sized up from 18 to 24 cause my weight has went and up down so many times in the years past. Fad diet lose then gain back... Kept clothes thinking i am going to fit into them again. I cant wait to just get rid of them all and wear one size. Deb

Oh i can so relate to everything you guys listed as being sick and tired of. I dont get my surgery till April and right now i am dieting like crazy cause i am going to Fla before my surgery and want to be able to at least ride some of the rides . Also i am so sick of when i go to lunch looking for chairs without arm rests cause i know how tight i will fit in them. I am also sick of my knees hurting me so bad at night cause they have been busy carrying around so much weight all day. I also have no real pics of me in years. Cause as long as i didnt have to see myself in pics i could fool myself about how big i really had become. I so want to wear cute jeans and tops.

Fingers crossed for you Ladybug that you get approved this first time. I am very worried bout that part that i have my hopes built up i have done the 6 mos and then i get turned down. I have done everything they asked so i hope that isnt the case. I am like you i cant wait to get this journey started. deb

Hey Congrats. I also have BCBS-IL but my work place requires that 6 mos of wellcare program. I am in the 5th month of that so i am well on my way to being there as well. I am getting more and more excited. Deb

Hi Just wanted to say congrats. I wish my band date was in march but seems I am looking at Late April. My insurance required me do a 6 mos wellcare program by phone and I am on my 5th month. So i expect to get my approval in March but since I have had a long time vacation planned for the first of April to fla i have decided it wouldnt be smart to do the surgery so close to that time so I am waiting till after i get back in April. I am so excited after reading all the success on this forum. Deb

Lisa i dont blame you i would be upset as well. I have not had a stool study done. I did have to have some labs done for Carewise when i started my 6 mos but was just blood work. I tried to call my surgeons today to find out anymore things i need to do but they havent returned my call yet. I so want to be sure i have everything in gear for my surgery the last of april. I am so hoping i can get it planned for then.

I have bcbs-il and I have been required a 6 mos of what they call Wellcare which was phone calls. I am on my 5th month. They are suppose to call me back for my last phone call in March. They told me the last time i talked to them they would talk to me that time bout what i would need after surgery. But they have to then turn it into the insurance to get approved. I am told this only takes a couple of weeks. I so want to have my surgery the last or april first of May. I am to very anxious bout not getting approved after geting my hopes up.

One of my co workers had this done and i thought she said she was on a liquid diet a week. But heck if its 2 weeks i will do it. I am going on vacation april 7 so how long i have to do the liquid diet will be the deciding factor of when i get my lapband as long as the insurance approves it. The Carewise ppl talk like it will be approved. The last thing they told me was they would call me in March to discuss what i need for my after surgery meals etc.. Deb

I am not worried bout the pain as well. I have had a surgery a few years ago and ddint even take my first refill of meds and broke my shoulder last yr and only took a few of the pain pills they gave me and didnt miss a days work. So pain isnt a worry for me. I am not very well informed on the liquid diet and i guess thats what i need to read up on. I know that a month before my 6 mos and i have now given up soda and drinking lots of water. Deb
