6 Days Post Op, Gallbladder And Vsg

I woke up this morning at 7am. I never wake up at 7am. The discomfort that I am experiencing with sleep is ridiculous. The discomfort that I'm feeling IN GENERAL is ridiculous! I can't sit. I can't stand. I can't walk. I can't lie down... without pain. The more I think about it, the more irritated I become. I think it was a horrible idea for me to get gallbladder removal surgery and a sleeve at the same damn time. When I eat, I can't tell whether the food discomfort is from the gas bubbles that keep coming up as a result of the gallstone removal? Or is it me being full from vsg surery?? I dont freakin know. My back has been achy and in extreme pain because I can't sit up straight (doing so hurts my insides) and I am constantly in pain on BOTH sides of my stomach so I have to constantly maneuver the way I sit. This morning I spent an hour sitting up on the couch in my room listening to my belly make noises. I'm totally fine with belly noises, I mean in the grand scheme of things.... who gives a flip about belly noises. What aggravates me is, I'm not sure what they mean anymore!! I dont know if its from HUNGER or GAS!!!! I mean, I feel hungry more often than not... sooo.... I'm basically hungry all the time. However, as soon as I start to consume something, I mean ONE TINY SWALLOW will lead to a series of burping and gas bubbles in my throat that just seem unnecessary. I know, its already done. But if I had it to do all over again.... there is no way in hell I'd have gotten both at the same time. I can't properly focus on being 'sleeved' and reading my body signals with that AND recovering from gallbladder surgery. I feel like a fat lazy louse because I can't even start exercising. I feel as though I very well may be failing on this whole 'journey' thing.

When's The Big Day? How Are You Feeling?

Hey ya'll. I know I'm late. But I was sleeved on July 31st at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, GA. I've been battling m.o. for a few years now and I was really excited about getting sleeved. However, I had a gallbladder removal at the same time and its really taking the life out of me. Isn't there a July Sleevers Facebook Group?

    Damn You 6 Month Diet!

Okay fellow Banders... I found out a month ago that I need to submit 6 month diet paperwork to UMR <<who are these people.>>although, we signed up with United Healthcare Choice Plus. I have been on a diet since October and last month would have been my last month...however, I recently switched surgeons and I'm not exactly sure what details should be present on this six month diet plan paperwork. If you have done this before can you give me an idea of what information was included in your 6 month paperwork, I would be very grateful. UMR is not giving out alot of information on the topic. Furthermore, I've lost about 18 lbs in that 6months is that a good thing..... for the insurance company I mean. Thanks!

    Damn You 6 Month Diet!

You are so lucky! So when your paperwork was submitted and they told you to lose 13 lbs you just lost the weight really quickly without having to go on another 6 month diet? What? *crosses arms* Im so jealous.

    Damn You 6 Month Diet!

Yeah, my nutritionist did the bulk of the documentation, but I did report to my physician monthly. I did a low calorie program... 1200 daily calories. All of that is documented. I just wanted to know if there is anything else its supposed to say?

    1st stuck episode

That is so ironic. I was watching skymoon1982's youtube video on being stuck that she made just yesterday. You should check it out. Apparently she got a boneless wing stuck in there. I don't know much about the stuck feeling, but I would think drinking something warm would help it. Maybe soften it up. Good luck!

    united health care

Did you find out if it was covered? I have United Healthcare and I just called their member hotline and asked what kind of bariatric proceedure is covered. They were extremely helpful.

    united health care approval?

Don't give up! Your doctor should have sent the past wl attempts the first time around, I don't know why he's slacking. Plenty of people appeal, and win. I am just now starting the process myself and I have a bmi of 40.8, just went to a seminar last weekend and am going for my consult/psychiatric exam/dietician apptmt next week. I don't plan on getting denied because UHC covers lap bands, but for you I would definitely encourage you to APPEAL. See if the doctors office has a patient advocate. And if you don't feel like the doctors office is giving you 100% then go to a new surgeon, new doctor. You need people on your side and fighting for you. What is your BMI? What have you tried in the past? Have you done the psych exam etc?
  10. That is really good news. I have United Healthcare Choice Plus. It says UMR on my insurance card though. Anyhow, I think they have a great plan and I have always heard alot of good things about their plans and options. How did you get everything done so quickly? I saw your seminar date was a month before your surgery date, what were your requirements prior to surgery? No psych exam? Nutritionist? What did your doctor submit to insurance?
  11. So, I went to a seminar on Saturday, October 15th. I had originally made plans to go to a different seminar in September, but the lady who confirmed my seminar details gave me the wrong details and confused me to the point where I didn't know what day or time the appointment was. Needless to say, I was pissed. So, I found this other surgeon and contacted them to confirm this seminar. I went and the doctor was really sweet. He seems to genuinely care about the cause of helping those who are obese. He brought up a couple of women who had already lost a dramatic amount of weight. But, one of the things that really stuck with me is one of those women, who had gastric bypass, was giving some advice and insight about this whole process. She got on the stage and said that her life and her existence now is really not only this surgery. SHe encouraged us to STOP putting things off for when you lose the weight. Stop saying, I will do that when I lsoe the weight. Do it now. Live your life now. She reesognated with me the most because in her testimony she pointed to her before picture and said 'Baby,I strutted like that before I lost the weight too". This resognated with me because most times, I feel really good about myself. I would say that I have a pretty high level of confidence for a plus sized woman. At any rate, I've seen some of the other members and their tracking with their progress in getting this proceedure and I don't want the step by step manual. I am aiming for expedited VIP status. I want to get this thing done before the new year. I want to go into the new year WITH a new part of me, literally. I plan to get the psychological exam done on October 25th Tuesday and on Thursday I have my consultation and meet with a dietician. I am hoping that everything can flow well for this process. www.youtube.com/user/Atldymeztamikaa

I dont care what anyone else says, you look hot before too!
  15. I don't know if anyone else has United Healthcare, but my insurance card says UMR. When I called the doctor and told them I had united healthcare they told me that it is really UMR, are they two different things? I was pleasantly surprised to get a call from the bariatric surgeon's office only to inform me that UMR does not cover lap band. I got ticked off immediately because I had already called and checked. As a matter of fact, when my boyfriend was in the process of signing us up for health insurance I decided that United Healthcare Choice Plus would be the best option for us BECAUSE they had the option of bariatric surgery! So when she told me that they did not cover it, I got angry. So I called there myself, to check. I was told that they do not cover GASTRIC BYPASS (which I didn't want anyway) but they do cover lap band surgery. Yay. So the rep at the surgeon's office was politely informed that I am covered. I really don't understand why.... why she would ask about gastric anyhow? I mean do the surgeon's pick what surgery you get? Aren't you the one who should decide if lapband is best for you? Anywho, anyone else out there I don't know if you have the United Healthcare/UMR situation going on... but please don't let them tell you that you aren't covered for anything. Probe around a little bit.
  16. [i have United Healthcare choice plus as well and I was told that they cover everything. I was wondering, did you have to do a 6 month diet prior to surgery? If so, who required you to do that? Your primary care physician? What were UHC's requirements other than morbid obesity and a psych exam?
