jenni_867 got a reaction from Bowgirl in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Date Set.....low Bmi
Hi guys. I was sleeved Nov. 3rd by dr kelly. I was at a bmi of 31, weighed 164.4. It hasn't been an easy few months, but i would totally do it again. Be prepared for a few rough weeks, but after the first month or so it's all good. I do really miss food though. But i guess i'm starting to learn to "enjoy" the food more than before. I don't think i really tasted food before, i was kind of a glutton , where as now i eat so slowly that i do really savour food! Lol. So, three months later i weigh in at 121. I don't know what my bmi is...i haven't updated my ticker. The sleeve is an awesome tool, but just be prepared that the beginning can be rough. If you have any questions, etc feel free to pm me!

depending on your surgeon you may or may not have a pre op diet. i had dr kelly and was only required a 3 day preo-op....you wont be turned away. all of us light weights had those same concerns.....although there were a few of us that had some issues at a certain hospital in Tijuana (scroll through this forum and you'll see what i'm talking about).
    good luck in your journey!

I didn't use either trish or omar. I choose dr kelly based on my research on him. As previous posters have said, it really matters not who your coordinator is.

I would frankly tell them its none of their business - if your boss won't give up and you want to tell him something - tell him its a girly thing.

After much family discussion, and a financial gift from my mom, I will be self-paying with Dr. Billing in Edmonds, WA instead of making the trip to Mexico. I'm going to his info session tomorrow, and will make a consultation appt shortly. My endocrinologist wanted me to wait (and in fact said he wouldn't choose VSG because of the lack of long term data) until my blood sugar was stabilized with insulin etc. (Oh, and he wanted to see how much weight I would gain with insulin too.) No thanks. My blood sugar is good- within the target ranges....I'm going for it.

In the interest of protecting everyone from potential harm, I just wanted to let everyone know that andersonlj is back. His new handle is IowaAndy.
Irene, on other forums, when you ban someone, you can block their IP. Is that not possible here?
He responded to my inquiry with a nasty private message from this post. I guess he didn't like that I recognized him after his rant about what a terrible site VST was and how there were much better support sites out there. Yet, he is back.

    Hi all,
I'm 5 months post-op and one of my fellow WLS friends is so proud of my progress that she got me all dolled up and put together these before and after shots for me, so I thought I'd share them with you. This is me, more than 60 lbs lighter, and in a size 14, down from size 20.

jenni_867 reacted to sirensiren in How Was Your Experience At Florence Hospital?
I think Oasis of Hope/Florence hospital has since corrected this major problem of them not "allowing" patients with a BMI of under 40 to go through with a procedure- in my case, I spent 2 months prior to surgery eating 1200 calories a day and I had a personal trainer- I was already looking good! But Dr. Kelly encouraged this healthy behavior, as it would only help my surgery, and he had verified paperwork from my pcp that I was indeed obese at the time I booked surgery. I was a BMI of 30-31 when they weighed me in at Oasis of Hope/Florence.
You should be fine, florence is a nice hospital and I was well taken care of.

not to sound like a villiage idiot. Or an expert of any sort........but, today is my 1 year "surgiversary" and I used to eat 2 double cheeseburgers, a jumbo fry, and a 6 piece chicken Mcnugget's from McDonald's..........and still be hungry........today, I went to Mc'Donald's, ordered my old "usual" took a bite of it all....including 2 of the same cheeseburgers....."celebration" ???? ..that was at noon. It's now it's 9PM.....I'll live, felt like crap for a minute, reminded me how much I DON'T WANT TO EAT IT AGAIN,.....but the craving has definately faded. I'll live and be fine. I've totally cheated. But your body will let you know. And to me.....that the best reliability! jus'sayin'

Well it's been 6 1/2 weeks since my sleeve surgery. I'm amazed at my changes. Down 60 pounds today!!!!!!!!!! Dropped 2 pant sizes, 2 shirt sizes and the energy level is thru the roof!!!!! I even cleaned the garage today because I was bored. been working every day on my truck from morning until nite also. I've gotten so much done lately. Couldn't have proven it by me at week 1-3. LOL Alot is changing. Off all Diebeties meds, High Blood pressure meds, Cholesterol Meds and only take a Vitamin now. As of last Tuesday could have eaten steak, but haven't gotten around to it yet. LOL That's not me or that's not whom I was before surgery. I would rather of eaten a steak than done alot of things, not anymore. Going out for baked Haddock tonite, My new favorite food. Yummmmmmmmmmmm. My only complaint is about the restriction feeling or full, or whatever it is when I eat. Doesn't feel good to say the least. Feels uncomfortable after. Like I have gas in my stomach. But the lifestyle change that has come is truly amazing to me. I hope everyone here whom get's the sleeve feels as blessed as I do at 6 weeks out!!!!!!!!!
