Today is my 8 month surgiversary and I am down 70 lbs since surgery, 85 total since Jan 15th. Sure, I wish I was at goal ( 20 lbs to go) but I feel I have done well. I know without my surgery I would not be where I am today for sure! I have minimal saggy skin, would be less if I could get my exercise on track but that is another story! Thanks to all my fellow sleevers for their help and inspiration with their successes and failures, it has helped me get to where I am today! Hugs to you all!

You need to quit concentrating on what you cant have. You will be able to eat normal foods again...albeit smaller portions. You made a decision to change your life...for the better. You are healthier and can be there for your kids and family. I am 8 months out and can eat pretty much anything I want. You will too...in time, in moderation!!!!
I went to my nieces b-day and had two bites of cake...I was ok with that. You too will be fine. Good luck, it will be fine!

I work in child care with 2 1/2 year olds...I'm thinking two weeks max...Incase of complications.
I am a very private person and the people I work with will make it a joke. That's just how they are. On top of that I don't trust many people. My mom, dad, and fiance are the only people I trust enough to tell that I am having (hopefully) WLS.
Thank you so much for your feed back! I see on your weight ticker that my weight is only slightly over your starting weight. and my goal is about the same as yours. I hope we can both make it to that goal!

I'm not a big fan of Protein Bars at all, but the one I have eaten a couple of times is the Pure Protein chocolate/peanut butter. It has 20g protein for 200 calories if I remember correctly. That's a good percentage. ONLY 14 carbs, which is still too many for me but not bad for a Protein Bar. Kinda chewy...definitely not a reeces Peanut Butter cup....but tastes fine.

    Hey Guys,
I just had to share. I have tried every Protein drink on the market. I am just shy of 2 years out. I ordered Real Meals powder and I like it. I got the vanilla and mixed it with Light vanilla soy milk. In 8oz I am getting 39 grams of Protein. Not bad...So excited to be getting in what my body needs. Just had to share. If you tried everything this one is good. No I dont work for them and paid full price! lol

Today I had my first post op appointment and it went very well. The Nut stated that I was getting my Protein and my fluids in. She actually liked the way my liquid log book was and I can incorporated it into my puree diet into my food log. I can start puree stage on Monday along with my other medicine (calcium, B12 shot once a month, and iron).
The big news is that I have lose 10.4 pounds. I am so excited and proud of myself. It took a long time getting to this point but I am here.
    Thanks

You have to set yourself up for success, and positive thinking is a HUGE part of staying focused and committed. The first year after surgery is the time to buckle down and get your body burning off that fat. I am sure you have heard over and over that overloading carbs keeps the cravings active, and you need to turn off that craving.
Get your home, work place, whatever stocked with healthy food. Try and stay away from bread, crackers, Pasta, rice, potatoes and sugar.
I also get hungry every few hours, but I have Snacks that get me through. My latest between meal snack are some olives and a cheese stick, or perhaps a handfull of mixed nuts. If you eat solid Protein FIRST it will give you that sense of being full. If you eat soft foods, you may not get that sense of fullness as quickly. If you need to, have a big cup of low fat Soup before dinner, wait the 2 hours and have dinner.< /p>
I am a slow loser, but I am losing. I am not perfect and sometimes I do slip up, but I always go back to my healthy eating, a nice salad at lunch with grilled chicken and low fat dressing is a good choice. A grilled piece of meat or poultry or fish with a veggie for dinner is a no brainer, cottage cheese with fruit or yogurt, or a Protein Bar for Breakfast will give you the Protein you need without all the calories and carbs.
You can do this. You are leaning toward self sabotage and you have to nip it in the bud before you un-do the great weight loss you've had so far. Make up your mind, and take control.
Good Luck. I was not trying to sound harsh, but sometimes we all need a dose of reality.

Looks like we had surgery around the same time. I don't have much of an appetite right now but I'm eating the broth, sf juice, Water n Protein Shakes. My hubby has me on a routine; we walk we eat we rest we suck the tube and repeat. My energy is starting to pick up and I'm feeling better. No regrets!

Cheetos are my nemesis. If they are anywhere near me, I am compelled to eat them, way past the point of satisfied or even full. I love cheetos...they don't love me, but they are my crack. I don't keep them in my house. I do allow myself some of them. Once a month I buy a single serving bag and I am definitely like a crack addict. I sit down somewhere, just me and my Cheetos, and I eat them with as much appreciation and adoration as I can manage. NOTHING interrupts Cheetos time. Then, I throw away the package, wash my hands, brush my teeth and refuse to buy any more for another month. Perhaps you need to do something similar with Jiffy. Allow yourself that once a month treat, but eat clean (Protein and water) the rest of the time.
Someone will disagree with how I do this, but this is how *I* manage my addiction. For me, it's easier to avoid the trigger when I know that I am allowed to have it, just not today. And, in a huge way, Im glad that my brain has focused on one food rather than a whole spectrum of foods. It makes the craving easier to manage.

First of all you need to drop "only" from your vocabulary. You have lost 98 pounds!!! That is amazing! Those are pounds you will never see again. Second of all if you can keep Protein Snacks like string cheese or boiled eggs or cottage cheese around those are great go to foods. When that doesn't work for me I always have mint gum handy. Chew some and the mint sooths your tummy and the sweetness it a plus. Besides when your mouth is minty fresh who wants to eat on top of that. Congrats on the great weight loss and keep it going. I know you'll do great!

Swap it! Take control of the cravings by changing the Peanut Butter (which is probably the fat or salt you want) with a sf kind (I've heard US has something called PB2 which is a good alternative) or get some macadamias to munch on (unsalted are still tasty!)
Get some 0% Greek yoghurt with some fruit in it (i love mixing it with frozen berries for that icecreamy texture!)
Start preparing more... Boil eggs, grill meat, store tins of salmon/tuna in the fridge, make up some savoury cupcakes (in the recipe section)...
    Get remotivated however you need!
And remember this is a lifestyle thing, you'll have ups and downs, smiles and frowns, just keep getting back on the horse!!!!!
    Peace and best wishes!!!

Without a doubt...I would do it all over again! I had absolutely no issues. I am 28 lbs from goal in 6 months. Everyone is different but in reading this forum, most had very little or no issues. I wasnt able to lose the weight before but now I am. I had high blood pressure...gone! I have my energy back, I can keep up with the kids now too! I eat what I want. I make healthier choices but I do not go without. Best of luck in your decision.

Yes, my doc made me wait till after my 2 month appt but I agree 100%. Weight training is the only way to go! Thanks for sharing! I did arms and legs very lightly till after my 2 month appt along with the treadmill. I would say go easy at first tho, dont want to over-do it, your tummy will let you know for sure.

I had a pretty good appetite before as well. I felt full and satisfied post op, no hunger issues at all. I believe it is just a mental thing everyone needs to work on. Sure, I looked at what I ate and said..."how can I be full already?" but I didnt dwell on it and I was good. Trust me, you dont want too overeat...it is freakin miserable. If you take one extra bite it feels like it is stuck in your throat! I am 7 months out and eat anything I want only very small amounts, of course I make better choices now but I sure am not depriving myself. Best of luck....you can do this!
