FEELING DISCOURAGED :(
This is a forum for people with the lap-band or are thinking of getting the lap-band to get support and information from people that have the lap-band. You don't..... you have your opinion, go on a VGS forum and talk about it. I don't think anyone here looking for support cares what your opinion is. You don't have any experience with the band so go be negative somewhere else.

So funny because when I told the dr that is what I was craving she said that a lot of people say they crave them. Funny!

Haha, that's what I had for lunch as soon as the dr gave me the thumbs up for soft foods I had refried beans with a little cheese on top, so yummy!

Sounds like we both are on a similar path . Mine went really well too, the healing, the diet, being able to tolerate all the liquids (what variety there is there). She said the port felt good. I am still a little swollen on the left side but she said it is because the stitches at the port incision are really tight but that my abdomen felt soft so that is normal. Congrats to a good appt!- September Bandsters
It went really well! Everything is healing perfect and I think that is due to my patience with being on the liquid diet. Just stick with it and it will pay off. I advanced to soft foods so I am so excited to have more variety! I told her I was so tired of the after taste the shakes leave in my mouth and she said I can suck on a sugar free lemon candy to sort of neutralize the taste. I have lost 7 lbs since surgery and 25 lbs since the pre-op diet so she was happy with that especially since there is no restriction in the band yet. Thanks for asking!- September Bandsters
The whole bed thing sounds familiar! I slept all night in my bed with the hubby for the first time since Sept.12, just last night! I would try but I am not a back sleeper and so laying flat on my back hurt too much. I have been feeling good the past few days, like pain free, and so I tried laying on my stomach and I was scared, lol. It didn't hurt so I slept in bed all night, lol. Silly little triumph It did feel so weird to not sleep with him.- Since being banded, do you notice how much people eat more??
That's funny, my husband gets annoyed with me telling him how/what to eat too. Last night I was practically counting his calories as he ate. He is 5'10" and 175 so he is totally average size but man he can eat.- September Bandsters
I have my 2 week post op appt today and I so can't wait to see if they advance my diet. I am so bored with the liquid diet, lol. I was able to sleep on my stomach last night too and that felt so good! Hope everyone is doing good!- now i am worried..
I had mine at a hospital and stayed overnight. I preferred that for the same reasons as the above 2 posters.- Should I go or not go ??
Like the others have said you will just have to see how your surgery goes and how much pain you are in. I was feeling pretty good on the 3rd day and ran a couple errands with my husband and that evening I was hurting. I feel like it sort of set me back a day but everyone's experience is different. I am 2 weeks out and still sore. I am a lot more exhausted than I expected to be. Make sure you don't push yourself though, let your body heal. Good luck!- September Bandsters
That sounds good! May have to try that! I need more variety.- September Bandsters
I never thought cream of wheat would ever taste as good as it does, lol. My father in law had a good suggestion, to add a little flavored sugar free coffee creamer in with it to add different flavors too. I haven't tried it because I have the maple brown sugar now but I am going to try that next. I thought that sounded so good.- September Bandsters
On the Fudgesicle - counting the Proteins in junk found is not considered a high vale Protein. In my nutrition class there are only certain high value foods with protein that we are allowed to count - they said do not count the others. I understand if it is sugar free fudgesicles but don't we need to change our bad habits of thinking about sweets so much and think healthy foods and portions. If the fudgesicles are not sugar free, you are not starting out too good at changing poor nutritional decisions that got us in this position of having to get lap band surgery. I said they are the sugar free fudgesicles and I think we all got to where we are for different reasons.- Let's talk about gas, shall we?
The Gas X won't help with the gas pains but they will help with all that gurgling. The walking as painful as it is is what will help with the gas that is in the chest area but the gurgling, def the Gas X helps.- September Bandsters
The sugar free fudgesicles have protein and I mix the cream soups with milk instead of water and my thinned out cream of wheat I use milk in too to boost up my protein but still am only getting about 50 grams a day.- September Bandsters
Yeah I do by my big incision. It is from where they cut through the nerves and it takes a little while for the nerves to heal hence the numb feeling. It will heal. I had thhe same thing when I had my gallbladder out- September Bandsters
Just till completely healed- September Bandsters
One cream soup I want to make is cream of carrot. I thought that sounded so good! Yeah, you may want to wait on the tomato soup- September Bandsters
When I had my surgery they had liquid prevacid going in my IV. When I left the hospital they gave me a 3 month supply of Nexium (I don't have reflux) to help with the healing in the stomach. They didn't say how long I have to take it but I am going to check on Tues when I have my post op. Long story short, your dr may give you some sort of meds like prevacid or nexium..... That bowel prep was no joke!!!- September Bandsters
I totally agree about anything out of the ordinary freaking you out. I am right there with you.- September Bandsters
Do you think maybe it was heartburn from tomato soup? I know all drs seem to have different guidelines but mine said no tomato soup because irritation or heartburn during the healing process. Did they give you any rx for heartburn? Mine gave me Nexium and I don't even have heartburn but they said it helps with the healing process.- September Bandsters
I don't remember who was asking about recipes but I found this website that had some yummy recipes for post WLS. It is http://www.livingafterwls.com . They had some good ones Can't wait to eat regular food, I guess just to have a bigger variety, lol.- September Bandsters
Make sure you are clear about how long for clear liquids and when can you go to full liquids. I was confused and was still doing clear when I could have been doing full. That stunk, lol.- September Bandsters
There are a lot of good suggestions on the food section here on lap band talks. There is also a book 'Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies' that has tons of good recipes in it. Take care! - September Bandsters
