Tricare prime time frame
I have tricare prime and had to have the nutrition and psych. I started the whole process of about 25 tests, classes, exams, sleep study, etc on May 31. I just had my surgery Monday on the 12th. It was a long process but will be well worth it. Where do you live? Good luck!

That's awesome! I am still taking the pain meds but not very often. I don't like taking them but the burning last night was bad and I took a dose today. That was what I said to the dr when he said he found the perfect place on my abs for the port, "I have muscles under all this fat?" Who knew?

Thanks! It is hard to tell what is normal healing process and what is something going wrong. I think it is just weird to me that there is something foreign in me and I want to make sure that port stays right where it should, lol. The surgeon did say that he found a perfectly flat spot in my ab muscles that the port just settled perfectly into and he couldn't have found a better spot for it. It is just a weird feeling, I can totally feel it. How are you feeling?

Hi all- I am now 4 days days post op and have a question. Yesterday I was feeling pretty good and ran a couple errands wiith my husband, nothing big. We went to the tool store and I waited in the car and then we went to the store and got literally like 10 things, I didn't lift anything, push the cart, nothing. Last night the spot where my port is had a sort of burning feeling. I was just wondering if anyone else has had sort of a burning feeling when healing. I don't have a fever or anything that would indicate an infection but just wondering if anyone else has experienced that. Thanks for any help Dawn

I got rid of all that uncomfortable gas in my abdomen (I was just banded Monday) by walking around but I have some major gurgling going on in my stomach and intestines. My hubby went and got me those Gas X strips everyone has been talking about and it totally calmed those down. Felt way better. They won't help for the gas that is painful but the gurgly gas in the tummy they were wonderful! Take care!

The nutritionist was surprised at how well i was tolerating liquid. She said if i felt i could tomorrow to go ahead and start on full liquid. I can't wait for some strained soup! But, i don't have anything in my band yet so that might be the difference.i'm with ya though...so happy to have it done. Take care of yourself! That's awesome to be able to start some soups! I am on clear liquids this week and next, blah. Last night I slept in one of the recliners on the end of our couch because it wasn't comfortable to be flat in our bed. How has sleeping been for you?

I am feeling better and better. Still sore but okay. So excited for you! Rest as much as you can in the hospital and WALK even though it feels horrible to get in and out of bed my gas hasn't been bad at all, only a couple times it has hurt but I haven't had any gas pains in awhile. Good luck!

I was banded yesterday and when I told the dr. I did the magnesium citrate that the nurse gave me and he said he doesn't give the magnesium citrate for lapband but for gastric bypass. I was annoyed because that stuff was no joke! Good luck!

I was banded yesterday so it is fresh in my mind, lol. They won't intubate you until you are asleep in the operating room. I breathed just fine when I came out in fact I have sleep apnea and they were going to keep me overnight in the recovery room but they said I was breathing so well that I went to a regular room. I don't have any sharp pains but I am pretty sore where my port is and where my stomach is but no pain at any other incision sites. It isn't anything the lortab isn't helping out . The only time that is really painful is getting in and out of a chair or bed. Walking is not bad and relieves gas really well. I have been nauseated though and so eating isn't fun but I haven't thrown up and they gave me medicine for that at the hospital. You will be all good and the benefits will outweigh the negatives Good luck!

Mine was yesterday too! I have been pretty nauseas too. Whenever I drink anything I am nauseated but haven't thrown up of dry heaved. They said to listen to my band even though it only has 1.5 cc's fill in it with the swelling it can make me nauseas. Also the lorcet can make me nauseated so I am drinking what I can but not being able to drink a lot for now. COngrats! So glad to be on this side of the process.

My dr. told me any surgery in the belly region you are intubated. I was banded yesterday and my sore throat wasn't bad at all. Also, I had my gallbladder out a few years ago and they said I would have been intubated then too so my guess is that you were too . Since you have had your gallbladder out I am feeling pretty similar to that surgery. Good luck!

Yeah, I have been doing a 'pre-op' diet the dr gave me. It was 2 protein shakes a day and one 300 cal meal and as much veggies as I wanted. This clear liquid part is not fun, I guess after a couple bowls of broth the thought of it for a week post-op is grossing me out, lol. That is awesome weight loss! I have lost 16 pounds since I started the pre-op diet I just need to keep my eye on the prize I bet you will be so glad when you are finally all healed. I told my mom I want to just fast forward about 6 weeks

Hi all, I am getting banded on Monday and was so excited till today when I had to start the clear liquid diet. Now I am so nervous if I can do this! Just getting nervous...... Those who have been banded already please tell me I will survive the first week, lol. I am not even nervous about the surgery part of it just the recovery eating part. Just doing the liquid diet so far today I feel like I am starving myself

I am so sorry, that sucks bad! Mine is Monday too and I am so over all this pre-op diet and stuff so I can imagine how you feel with the prospect of it being pushed back. I am in San Diego and we had that crazy power outage yesterday so I was worried mine would be postponed. I hope you get some answers today! Good luck.

I am so glad to hear I am not the only one that thinks it is hard and having 'head hunger' issues! So annoying! I am being banded on Monday and I can't wait to get this process on so I can eat real food again. I am over the pre-op diet, I need to fast forward about a month, lol.

When I had my psych eval they said they do it so they can make sure there is no underlying reason that made you gain weight, i.e. sexual abuse, something like that.

September Bandsters
It got easier for me, I have been on it for a couple weeks but the past couple days I have been hungry now! I will be banded on Monday so hopefully I won't be so hungry after that
-
September Bandsters
That's awesome! I hope you continue to feel good! When will they let you have the Protein shakes? I am hating them at this point too but I better get over it.... So you are hungry though?

The chocolate muscle milk light and the Isopure blue raspberry and green apple are my favorite. Let me know how the mango peach is. I haven't tried that or the grape. I did try the pineapple banana one and it was okay.

Oh man, the first couple days when I started I was in a horrible mood and felt like crap! I guess the blood sugar being low. I eat my 'meal' late afternoon and that helps. The fruit punch Isopure is HORRIBLE!!!! The blue raspberry and green apple are really good though. Good to add to the mix though instead of just the 'shake' consistency. Good luck!
