I'm still too heavy for my home scale, so first weigh in will be at my 2 week post op appt.
After that, it will be weekly as well. Tuesdays also. I'm feeling pretty alert today. I feel like the inside stuff is more comfortable, and I'm at half my Protein for the day.

    My surgery was March 19
i am doing much better everyday.
Haven't gone back to work yet
Dying of boredom and happy i have no appetite or else i'd be in the fridge every 5 minutes.
I am 20 lbs down and I want to weight myself everyday but i am trying to just do it every Tuesday since my surgery date was on a Tuesday.
I am on Puree and it is frustrating and yucky so i'm sticking to Soups. I honestly thought it would be a breeze but its more of a challenge.
I can not wait to start exercising. I made a list of goals and NSV and rewards to help make time pass. Overall I'm just trying to be patient.

Listen.. Surgery first. Recover. A few months out depending on how you feel you make the decision that is best for you. For now my advice to you is too focus on yourself. You might get into something now that you might not want after the surgery. Your confidence and high self esteem will help you make much better decisions.
    Good Luck and stay strong!

    Hello everyone
I am asking this for a friend of mine who recently had her gastric sleeve surgery. She was expecting her routinely cycle during the surgery, however 3 weeks postop she found out she is preggers!
It seems like she was pregnant while in surgery. She is freaking out and by all means it is very scary..she is going to see her obgyn on monday, but I just thought I should post here and see if anyone was ever in a similar boat?
I know someone concieved 2 weeks post op,, but I would, like to know if someone was concieved pre op and didnt knew until after surgery.
What are the effects of anesthesia and the surgery itself and the pain meds?? By the way she is only 2 weeks when she had her sleeve surgery.
Thanks for your answers in advanced everyone. I myslef got approved today for my sleeve and waiting for surgery date
    My stats
    5'2, wt 220, bmi 40, no co-morbidity.

I'm sorry to this poster but I have never read worse advice. Please OP do not take this advice.
First off DO NOT speak for everyone. We were not all lied to. I certainly wasn't told my hunger would go away. I was told that was a possibility and that most likely it would be diminished in some about. So far that is very true FOR ME. I have yet to have anything more than the most mild and fleeting hungry feeling. It comes and goes very quickly and is hardly noticeable.
The food issues and hunger will get better as you add in more and more whole foods instead of just the soft stuff, at least it should. I hated that first stage but it really changed for me as I added in more solid foods. Follow your nutritionists guide and you should get through all of the major issues you are having.
Last DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF. I almost fell out of my chair when I read this persons "advice" to wait until you are starving. Sure you might see faster results but at what cost? The point is to be eating or drinking pretty much all day. Same advice Nutritionists give to people dieting without a VSG too. You need to be eating 4 or 5 small, in our case tinny meals a day. My day starts with a shake, I actually like the kind I found, then I drink 16 ounces of Water over the next hour then have 1 egg or something like that then some more Water or milk by then its lunch time and I have something from my current stage's approved list then after lunch some more water then a snack like a yougert, sorry again I LOVE these. And then dinner later and end the day with some fat free milk. I hit my 75 Protein and stay around half that for carbs and around 800 calories I could bring this up I think to avoid putting my body in to starvation mode and all my other numbers are at or below the daily goals. The point being, eating all these tinny meals and drinking lots keeps that hunger away. If you wanted to starve yourself as this poster suggested you could have ton that without the surgery. Its dangerous and just plain stupid.
We are not all the same we all have different experiences so take what you can from my advice but don't starve yourself and you are different even though this poster is trying to tell you other wise. We can't speak for everyone we are all on a similar but special journey. Good luck with yours.

Here I am one Easter later and 100 pounds down. I am also off my diabetes and high blood pressure meds.
This week has been the first time since my VSG that I've struggled with my eating. I take this as an opportunity that life has its ups and downs, this is just a blip in the big scheme of things, reminder that food will be a challenge for me and I will continue to need to put a lot of focus towards my health and happiness. Nonetheless I am determined to continue my progress towards better health and long life! I am extremely thankful for the support on this journey so far. This board and my friends are a godsend!
My daughter and I are headed to China in December - her homeland tour - and I am determined to scale the Great Wall! I have a lot of training ahead on endurance to do it, but I will do it!

I know for me I was kinda forced to share with coworkers because they over heard my conversations with the Drs office. I'm a person that's almost reclusive so I don't have friends outside of work. So I said all that to say I didn't willingly share with coworkers because of the stigma, reaction, snide remarks & jokes. To heal and be successful I must focus and not be consumed with judgement. No one wanted me to get this surgery not even my family. So I had the surgery 2 days ago and I trusted one friend to be there for me.
People really don't understand that we are doing this to improve our quality of life. To have a long life and be proactive instead of reactive to health issues. I know when I go back to work people will be watching & talking but that's ok. I only want positive reinforcement..So I won't be discussing it. It's important we keep positive along our new journey.
I know how u feel and I refuse to allow doubt in my life no matter what. Do I still feel ashamed, yes but I'm praying that will go away.

Everyones journey is different. I know people who walked out of surgery like if they just woke up from bed ready to go out. I know people who found the first 4 weeks the easiest and others like myself the most challenging. AGAIN everyone's experience will be different and that is why this site s here for. So that we can SUPPORT each other ask questions and utilize the search bar so we can inform ourselves.
I've been looking at this surgery for over a year and wls in general for like 3 years and i can tell you that no matter how informed you are, you won't be 100% ready for what's coming and that is why i state that EVERY SINGLE PERSON IS DIFFERENT. and i do believe that as time goes on everything will get better. day 3 I was so sad and thinking wth did i just get myself into. I am almost 2 weeks post and even though it is a challenge i know that it will get better.
Just keep thinking positive!!! And do not compare yourself to anyone..

There is some great advice here! Kind of restores the idea of why we all come to this website for support.
When I get irritated with my husband or friends about the eating thing...I try to remember two things.
    1. They didn't change. I did. If they put up with me before, I can learn to change my attitude about minor irritations with them now.
    2. My attitude is my choice. I can't control what anyone in this world does, but i can control the way I react to them. I saw a sign the other day that said "no one can drive you crazy, if you don't give them the keys."
