  1. We have school cops. They were keeping the parking lot secure and checking parking decals. They decided to search his because he hadn't picked up his sticker., he paid for it but didn't get it. Its a shame they are like mall cops.
  2. Its looking good. We have a good attorney. Thanks for your concern.
  3. I did not have a drain. It depends on your surgeon.. its a good preop question to ask at your consultation!
  4. I want to tell you guys about the realization I made today. Its kind of a personal story but I think there may be a few of us that can relate to it. Before surgery, I asked my husband what kind of eater did he think I was... emotional, stress, volume etc... I thought I was just a volume eater. He immediately said stress and emotional. I argued with this and was very defensive about it. He said when I seemed sad and depressed, i ate more. I just thought, no way and that he was wrong. I said I dont get hungry when I am upset! The story began yesterday when I got a voicemail from my 17 year old son's school that he had been arrested and taken to adult jail. I panicked listening to what he could have possibly done. He had driven the car I bought him to school and failed to get the proper sticker for it. They searched it and found a pocket knife in the console under some CD's. He is now charged with a FELONY because the car was parked on school grounds. He was in jail until 3:30 am this morning when they finally released him to us. He was scared to death. He is a very small guy and he looks very young for his age. He is a late bloomer. Anyway, you can imagine my horror! I cried and cried for him. I was so scared something would happen to him in there! I skipped dinner altogether because I was upset and forgot to eat thanks to sleevy. Fast forward to this morning. I had to go to the school this morning to get the keys to his car and his ID. I was upset when talking to the principal about why they didnt call me at work and decided to leave that on a voicemail plus how rediculous I think it is that they would charge a kid with that knowing he didnt bring it to school on purpose and it was way down in a console of a car, long since forgotten about. Anyway, I was shaking by the time I got to work. I started looking for food. My stomach felt like it was burning and I just wanted to eat. I knew i really did need to eat something so I chose greek yogurt but it wasnt satisfying me at all. I only ate half and gagged my way through that. I knew my sleeve was full but I was still searching for something... thats when I realized my husband had been right all the time.... when I am stressed like that and emotional, I turn to food for comfort! I had to calm myself down but the urge to eat was really strong! I managed to not give in to it. I ate a normal lunch for sleevy (some soup) and I am feeling better. It all makes sense now that I was able to pinpoint my problem area. I didnt give in to it... I stayed busy at work and it kept whispering in my ear...but I ignored it. I just wanted to share this and see if anyone else can relate to something like this since they were sleeved. I know I would have eaten until I was in a coma before I was sleeved, if something this upsetting had happened to me and my family. Holla if you feel me.....
  5. My doctor said I need new crosstrainers. I am buying some tomorrow. I am also getting orthotics for my shoes. I cant afford to have them made custom right now (was self pay for surgery in Texas) so I will get the already made ones for now. I am doing the stretches and I will check out the ASTYM treatment! Thanks for all your guidance through this painful thing they call PF. Tammi
  6. Are you all set? Hope things are going well for you!
  7. I hated the BA Iron chewable after surgery.. It was so TART! I cant hardly stand it so I got some multis with iron in them for that.
  8. Preop protein shake- I finally found one I can stomach. Its the body fortress vanilla and I add a spoon of cheesecake pudding mix to it or some sugar free caramel syrup. I hated all Protein shakes before. I also mix it with milk and it is totally doable. Iron pill- I take a chewable flintstones with iron twice a day! Multivitamin- Flintstones with iron Vitamin d- I bought a vitamin d pill at walmart. Its small and is Fluid filled and easy to swallow. Calcium- I chew a viactiv caramel a day. Its the best calcium for people who are prone to kidney stones. B-12- I bought the sublingual one at walmart and it melts under your tongue.. its good! l like a peice of candy.
  9. SW 210 CW 197 GW 190 lbs to goal 7 I am getting there slowly but surely! I hope I make it!!!!
  10. Your welcome Darcey! Its a great tool to have in your arsenal and I love mine! Its easy to say "oh, you can loose 2-3 pounds a week with a regular diet like ww and willpower" but you dont hear many people saying, "oh its easy to loose 100 pounds in 6-9 months premanently with a regular diet like WW and will power" Its all in the prospective. Its long term PERMANENT weight loss as long as you do what you are supposed to. You cant go back to eating cake and ice cream as your staple foods or you will feel sick and you can override it if you try to... but who would deliberately sabbotage themselves! Looking at it as permanent loss and over the long run is a much more realistic view of it. Looking at it on a weekly basis is not seeing the forest for the trees! Lots of people are successful in the short run on regular low calorie diet plans and thats great however for those of us that are 100 pounds overweight or more, we need a little more help than that. jmho
  11. My doctor says that after the first month, the initial drop in those fat stores and Water weight, you can expect to loose between 8 and 10 pounds a month. I thought of ww too because they say 1-2 pounds a week. I have been on ww for 20 years and I have never lost that much consistently! I lost about 40 pounds once on ww and it was an average of 6 pounds a month but I didnt keep if off and it slowly came back on, even though I kept on with ww. I just got lazy and didnt keep it up as diligentlly as I should have. I am not saying ww doesnt work, I am saying its a tool, just like the sleeve is. Its not a miracle that you dont have to do anything and POOF the weight is gone. You still have to think about Protein first and getting your water, etc. Its a great tool because its restrictive and you cant gobble down everything you once did. You have to work your tool and there are very few people who have lost 2 to 2.5 pounds a week on ww consitently (the key word here). If they did, it would have worked for many of us who have tried and tried and failed. Its your decision but dont be delusioned into thinking that its an easy fix or that you dont have to be careful what you eat after the surgery. Its working great for me and I love that I am not hungry and it makes me able to make better choices and not stuff myself. I have been more successful in the first two months than I ever have with anything else. I lost 11 pounds in the past month and I think thats pretty good, for a total of 37 since surgery 8/8. thats two months and three days. It took me five months to loose that with ww and I gained all back DOUBLE within a few years. This for me is a more permanent solution to keeping my weight off and being healthy. Good luck to you!
  12. Thanks! I made some pudding at home with 2 cups of milk and added some Protein powder in. Turned out fine! THanks for sparing me the money of trying these!
  13. I found some stetches online to do and I started those today. I am scared to take the steroids so I decided not to. I have to see my podiatrist again in a week and I am worried that the pain will still be there and he will find out I didnt take them. Oh well, I am going to try this first. If i am still in a lot of pain by then, I might reconsider taking them. Thanks for all the advice. How often should I stretch? The videos said once a day and there are three different stretches to do... one with a belt, one you just pull your toes and ball of your foot back toward you.. they seem really the same and the other is more an achiles stretch. My I should do them morning and night. I want this pain gone. Its mainly in my left foot.
  14. I quit smoking cold turkey many years ago. Its was very difficult. My husband quit this past June with Chantix. It worked great for him. He only took it for a month. The same thing happened with my best friend. They both used it for about a month and have been smoke free ever since (my freind has been quit for about 3 years now! I would reccommend it over cold turkey after seeing the results with my friend and husband.
  15. I dont know if this will help or not but my surgeon tells everyone (its in his powerpoint he gives at the seminar) that if you have relationship trouble, this surgery will not fix it but make it worse. If your other half has self esteem issues and does not trust the relationship, that wont be made better after. He obviously has issues trusting that you love him no matter what size you are, if he thinks you are going to leave him if you get skinny. That is HIS problem, one that you cannot fix. We have to fix our problems and put ourselves first so we can be healthy and able to take care of our kids and our significant others. I have learned the hard way that you cant fix people and they cant fix us. I think you are right, if he cant support you when you need him the most, when will he? Is this a one sided relationship? If it is, you are better off re-evaluating it and having a heart to heart with him. The last thing you need is extra stress added to your journey trying to please someone who is a narcissist and only concerned with themselves and what they want (control freak). Just my 2cents.
  16. I lost another 2.4 pounds this week. It didnt show up until the weekend. I stayed the same hovering around 200 or 199 all week. Finally, I dropped to 197.8 saturday and have stayed there since. Im sorry I am late posting this! Good luck girls!
  17. You are right. I am not going to be adding fat, just a little water retension. I am going to buy the good shoes and not go barefoot anymore. The pain I am in now is pretty intense and the prednisone is to relieve the pain. Once I get past that, the doc is going to have me do stretches, buy orthotics, etc. to help with the healing process. I just freaked out a little over it. I should be fine as long as I do what I am told.
  18. a great friend of mine told me that when someone asks her a nosy none of their business question... she always asks "why do you ask?" and it makes them stammer around and she doesnt answer them. Most people say, oh I just wanted to know and she continues with.. but why? What do you plan to do with the information? It gets really funny the more flustered they become. Makes you think twice about asking people personal information. Also, if they start it with "do you mind if I ask you " blah blah blah... she will say, why yes, I do mind. And they say nothing further.. I have seen this work many times.
  19. I hope to keep active even though it hurts. I am not going to eat eat eat either. I wont allow myself to do that even if I am hungry. I dont think I will be. My doc says that Water retention is a biggie with this medication. He said that would go away as soon as I was done taking it.
  20. Ok peeps... I need help here. I just came from a foot doctor because I have been having pain in my feet in the mornings for about 8 months now. I developed a pain in my left heel about three weeks ago that wont go away no matter what I do. I finally gave in and went to the doctor about it. Its plantar fasciitis. DAMN. I am now on prednisone for two weeks and then four more weeks of an anti inflamatory. My surgeon gave his blessing on these meds. I am going to gain weight! Its a steroid! What am I going to do??? Has anyone had to take this medicine post op and what happened? Did you gain, stay the same or loose normally? I am totally freaked out. He did say I can keep doing aerobics though. He also said I got this condition from being overweight, on my feet lot and wearing flipflops or no shoes at home. I cant wear them anymore or go barefeet. I cant win for loosing... I am so upset! Someone please tell me I am not going to gain all my weight back with these damn steroids! If my foot didnt hurt so bad and I could walk right without taking them, I would!
  21. Cool. I tried an eggface recipe last night for banana caramel Protein Bars and it turned out horrible. I substituted unflavored powder for vanilla powder and added extra vanilla but i guess it wasnt enough. It was not edible. I am just hoping I can make pudding that I can actually enjoy but more especially, that I can actually eat and not have to pitch. I think I will go with one scoop of protein powder and add some vanilla flavoring also.. maybe some splenda. I guess its going to be a trial and error thing til I get it right! Thanks for helping me! How many servings does yours make when you put two cups milk and 2 scoops protein powder? I guess it would make 4 1/2 cup servings but I am not sure. Thanks again. Tammi
  22. SW- 210 CW 199 GW 190 lbs to goal 9. I usually post to this thread midweek since i started it that way. I am doing well. I have not lost in the last three days but my TOM is here and so I think that might be attributing to it. I think I can do this! I have about 4 weeks left and thats only about 2 lbs a week! I am going to give it my all. Good luck everyone!
