  1. I am one month out also and on my last week of soft food: I typically eat: Breakfast --- most of one scrambled egg Snack--- half a protein bar (small one) They are kinda dense and I cant eat more than that. Lunch--- tuna salad ~ maybe 2oz I had leftover roast and leftover dark meat chicken other days this week Snack--- other half of protein bar One day I had greek yogurt about 5 oz-- took me an hour to eat it all. Dinner-- baked Talapia ~ maybe 2oz-- I had roast beef one night and dark meat chicken another after dinner last night I tried 8 oz of milk--did fine I am really interested in what other people eat too.. I want ideas!
  2. I told the people at work that I had a hernia repair too. I did have it repaired at the same time. I also had a kidney stone two weeks later and was hospitalized for another week so they think the early weight loss has to do with having two surgeries in three weeks time. I am not sure what I will say as the weight continues to fall off. I had one ask if I was still on a diet. I said no, just not healthy at the moment (kidney issues). I am not sure what I will come up with after this kidney thing is over! I guess I will tell them I am eating mostly Protein and healthier. I dont want them to know either.
  3. Thats a really good idea! I think I will try that!
  4. My doctor says no alcohol for a year. You are healing and still swelled up. Most leaks happen at 3 or 4 weeks out. I would not chance it for wine. You can have a fruit drink with no alcohol and still have fun with the girls! Dont chance it!
  5. Im in! I made a ticker earlier... I didnt know what to expect to loose since I am just 4 weeks out from surgery but I put 20 pounds. Maybe I can do that... SW 234 CW 210 GW 190 lbs to goal 20
  6. I had horrible left flank pain and it was a kidney stone. I dont know exactly where your pain is, but mine was low and on the left... it went through to my back and felt like a labor pain. This might be your culprit. Good luck!
  7. I eat Hormel Chili too. Not a lot because I just started on soft foods but it sat well with me and I thought it was a good source of Protein. I have seen others post that they eat a lot of chili. Hormel is the lowest fat/calorie chili too so that is good.
  8. Hi. I am looking for buddies that are in the San Antonio area. I moved here from Alabama two years ago. I was sleeved August 8th by Dr. Duperier. I am doing okay so far. I am on soft foods this week and then on to normal food. I cant eat very much at a sitting but its going ok. I had a set back two weeks ago with a kidney stone. I am feeling much better now just cant wait to get the stent out! Let me know if anyone wants to buddy up with me for the journey! I have no friends here and I am private about my surgery so it would really help if I had a buddy! Thanks!
  9. You might be developing an allergy to the glue. I dont think its serious, just seriously annoying!
  10. yes, I had dermabond too. I also had steristrips on top of that. They turned red around them and burned so my doctor took them off at two weeks. The glue from the strips and the dermabond just turned black and was sticky like tape. It didnt get red bumps on it. I finally got it all off after another week. Good luck to you on that. I hated it.
  11. My doctor prescibed me generic zofran for nausea and its great stuff! I can take it every 6 hours for nausea. I only take it in the mornings with my acid reducer though.. I dont seem to need it in the afternoons yet. It was a lifesaver for me. Ask your doctor for it.
  12. How big is a medicine cup and where do you get one? A pharmacy? I need help getting my fluids in too.
  13. I got quite emotional when I was at day 5 or so too. That little voice was telling me that I had really screwed up doing this to myself and it was never going to be the same. It was all negative. I cried about it. I was pretty depressed. Then, I was at week two and found I could add Protein shakes and I tried that and it was a little better. Week three added milk, cheese and yogurt. I was so happy to get to eat cheese! I could chew it! Before I knew it, I was on soft food. I cant hold very much, but it feels good to get to eat what my family is eating. I have one more week of soft and I got to regular food! It does get so much better than the first week! Hang in there!
  14. I really enjoyed the analogy of the landing on the staircase. I am only in week 5 since surgery and have had a kidney stone setback. I am taking it in stride so far and not obsessing on the weight I have lost or not lost. I know I have to get healthy kidneys first (still have a stent) and then I can concentrate on that. Right now I have to concentrate on getting my fluids in for my kidneys sake. Thats whats important right now. I appreciate the words of encouragement. They mean alot to people like me, who have had complications and roadblocks early in this journey. Tammi
  15. Im from Pascagoula and have lived in Picayune and worked in Metarie! Just thought I would give a shout out! Im in San Antonio Texas now.
  16. I paid 14,200 for mine in San Antonio, where I live. I used my flexible benefits from work to cover part of it and I charged the rest on carecredit, interest fee for 18 months. So I have a payment for 1.5 years but its totally worth it to me... by the time I get to goal and have maintained for 6 months, I will have paid it off! My insurance only covered the sleeve if you had a bmi of 50 or greater and I didnt.
  17. I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone in the uncommanded BM! It happened to me too. I was truly embarrassed. I had no warning whatsoever! I wish you a speedy recovery!
  18. I liked the site.. it has a cool food log at the end. I think I might start using it.
  19. I was sleeved the same day as you too. I lost the Fluid they pumped in me in a week and was down 21 pounds counting the preop diet. then in week 3, the dreaded KIDNEY STONE happened. A week in the hospital so I skipped my pureed week. I was pumped full of fluids to try to get the kidney stone out and when I was discharged, after surgery on my kidney, I was back up over my highest weight! Talk about discouraging! So far this week I have lost most of the fluid weight again but I am not as small as I was at my two week checkup. I started out at 234 and 50% body fat. Two week checkup I was 216 and 48% body fat. Yesterday at the follow up visit, I was 217 but HOLY MOLY 41% body fat! I am loosing fat under this fluid. Anyways, my point is that even when the scale isnt showing it, we are loosing fat! It will catch up! Now for the eating part.... I started soft foods on Monday. I can barely hold 1/4 cup. I dont know how in the world people are eating that much and not puking. I am having a hard time getting my fluids in too. I had to up my meals to 4 1/4 cup Protein meals. I can tolerate everything I have eaten so far and its been great to eat again, but I am only getting about 300 calories a day. I wish I could eat as much as you are! Maybe I have a small sleeve or Its just swollen more. I have been through a lot in the last three weeks so I guess I just need time to heal. This just shows that everyone is different and it can be Water retention or your body not wanting to let go of the fluid just yet, etc. I think if we are patient, the weight will come off. Good luck and keep my posted!
  20. I am four weeks out this week. I eat an egg in the morning soft scrambled. I eat chicken or tuna for lunch, just an ounce. I eat soft chicken thigh meat or fish at night. I am in the soft food stage. My doctor said yesterday that wasnt enough. I am now told to snack on Protein bars while at work and also to do 4 protein meals a day since I can only hold about a 1/4 cup at a time. I am very tired all the time. I am having a hard time getting my fluids in too. I just hope it gets better and I am able to hold a little more soon!
  21. Sadly, it would have been lost on him it sounds like. I think he got the picture when he said he should be informed before commenting. Maybe that will be a lesson to him. Congratulations on your weight loss!
  22. Its funny to me how he said he didnt believe in that when he was staring at you and saying you looked great. Its not the tooth fairy! You are living proof that this surgery works as a great tool for people to use. When they invented the wheel, did someone say.. hey it works great but I dont believe in that and go on carrying everything on his back... just a stupid thought I had....lol.
  23. I just started soft foods today, I am three weeks post op... starting on 4. I breezed through week three fulls because I was hospitalized with a kidney stone, extra surgery to fix that so I didnt feel like eating anything anyway! I have trouble with thick things like pudding and thicker Protein Shakes, etc. I tried soft dark meat chicken today and it went down a lot easier! I totally get it when the sleeve says hell no to some thick consistency things! I tried tuna salad today and I could only eat about an ounce of it. It didnt make me sick though... just full pretty quickly. I am waiting to get over this kidney thing and be back to my old self again too! Stay hydrated!
  24. I am also three weeks post op today! We are sleeve sisters! I was doing well until last week when I got a little dehydrated and had a kidney stone. Not fun... I was back in the hospital for a week, another surgery to place a stent, etc. I was pumped full of fluids and am still trying to pee that off! I dont know how my weight loss is going because of that but I think I should level out soon. I understand completely about the mental side of this. It has been the hardest thing for me. I find myself feeling sorry for myself because I cant eat like I used to... bums me out when my family can have all this food and I just have broth. I am just starting on soft food now and its getting better. I was not really prepared for the mental change it would take either. I think we will both be great and we will get through it!
  25. I am almost 3 weeks post op and writing from my phone. I have been back in the hospital since tuesday. I have a kidney stone. My surgeon said I got dehydrated and it decided to move out. I am waiting on the urologist to put a stint in and get it out. Its very painful but they are giving me strong meds. I just wanted to update y'all on how I'm doing. Ps. Kidney stones are not caused by the sleeve but by my old diet. Just happened to move when I got a little dry. Drink your fluids!
