Aerobics instructor comment...
I found this great step aerobics class and I was so excited to start. I used to do step a few days a week for years and I love it! I was elated to find one in my area. I went Saturday and it was great. I went this morning and it was a different instructor. She was nice and bubbly, even my age... early 40's. All was going well until.....She was commenting to the class about one of the womens accomplishments in weightloss and said, "Lorraine here has lost 12 pounds!!! Wooohooo! "and she did it the right way!" I was slightly taken aback. I know they dont know I had surgery, and I may be sensitive right now, but I cant think what else she would be referring to as the wrong way except wls. I remained silent and just felt odd, I guess. I shook it off and gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe thats not what she meant. I can see why people dont want it known... It still has a stigma about it. I am just saying it left me with an odd feeling.. I didnt know what to feel.

ONEDERLAND!!!
Thanks everyone for your continued support! I love my sleeve!

Sleeved August 8th
I still cant hold very much food. I dont know if my sleeve is still swollen or what. I only get 400-600 calories a day on a good day and water is slow too. I only get about 24 to 30 ounces of liquid. I know its not enough and really try to get it down. Anyways, I have lost 35 pounds so far and I am happy with that. I am averaging about 2.5 pounds a week and I am great with that. Its coming off at least. Its almost our 2 month surgiversary!

When does the first stall usually happen?
I had a significant setback in the third week myself. I am all to familiar. I had a kidney stone and they pumped me full of fluids for 5 days and I had another surgery on my kidney. When I got home, I had gained it all back then some! I had to start over from 236 instead of 234. I just kept telling myself that I would still be fine and it would come off. It took another week to get off the Water weight and be back where I was at week two and it was week 4! It has come off at 2 to 3 pounds a week since and this week was even 4.5 lbs. I will come off if we do what we are supposed to and be patient.. Best of luck to you! Keep up the good work and I cant wait to see updates from you! You are gonna do great! :cheer2:

Lessons learned.....
I feel you on this one! I had a complication (kidney stone and stent placement) because of not enough water intake! Drink your water people!

When does the first stall usually happen?
I think a big problem today is that we are soooo impatient as a people. I dont know anyone who has lost 10 pounds in 16 days without surgery or on their liquid diet. I mean be for real. I dont think most of us could do that on our own and if we could we wouldnt be fat. Its the maintaining the loss that counts anyway. So what if you ONLY lost 10 pounds... thats 10 pounds you wont regain next week. It will come off when it decides to. You didnt gain all that weight in 16 days so how can you expect it to just miracle its way off that fast?? Please give your sleeve a chance... you dont really have a choice at this point anyway. I am sure it will speed up for you soon.. Your body has to adjust to the low calorie intake..also, you dont saggy skin from losing to fast anyway. I wish you the best. I think you should try to exercise some patience and let your sleeve work for you. Just my two cents and I dont mean it in a harsh way. We all get like this and I have to remind myself alot to be patient!

Sept 24th check in
Hey guys! I lost 2 pounds this week. I didnt think I was going to loose any but finally yesterday the scale started creeping down. I hope for more next week. My husband thinks it was because I have been sick. I am still struggling to get enough protein, calories and fluid. Its been a tough week. I did wear my jeans that I havent worn in two years to work this week. That felt great.. Some were size 16 that I bought at old navy after loosing some weight with weight watchers but after about a month, I couldnt wear them anymore. I am such a yo yo'er. Anyways, I will check in next week! Have a good one!

Surgeon Said Gastic Bypass was my Best Option
Okay.. I did a rough little tally at these increments.... 2-3 months out ---- 50% 4-6 montHs out ---- 67% 7-9 months out ---- 86% 10-12 months out --- 96% I just went through some posts and wrote down the username, months out and percent weight loss in each group from there tickers/surgery dates etc. There were about 12-15 people in each group. Just a quick overview. Some were lower than others but I averaged them and this is what I came up with. PRETTY IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!

Surgeon Said Gastic Bypass was my Best Option
You can go from sleeve to GP but not the other way around. You have to live with it, not him. Why not give it a go and then if you are in that percentage that doesnt loose all the weight, get the bypass then. I would do what I felt was right for me. Statistics are just that... you dont know where you will fall on the curve and neither does he. I would not want the dumping but that is just me. Its your decision and I think you should just think about what you think is best for you and only you. If you want the sleeve, get the sleeve. Its your body. JMO My doctors office reports near the same results as GB. I went for it because of that. He said many people loose 100 percent of their weight with it just like GB. I dont know where your doctor got his stats from. Lap band is about 50% average I think. Not sleeve. EDIT: I think I am going to take a little poll of people whho are at least 6 months out and see what percent they are on these boards. I will do my own stats to see what the percentage is at 6 months. I will let you know what I come up with.... I am going to look at all the posters and not ask the question... some people may not see the poll... I love detective work!

Need Help with Protein Please...
I am going to get some carnation instant breakfast. My kids liked it when I bought it before. I also like the hot chocolate idea too. I ordered some unflavored unjury protein in hopes I can hide it in my decaf coffee. I use sf hazlenut creamer and so I think I could tolerate it. I love peanut butter to and I can lick the spoon! lol. What a novel idea. I like the idea of granola/almonds mixed in the greek yogurt. I am going to try that too. I have some premium mixed nuts but I am not supposed to have those for another week. I think we are sleeve sisters! August 8th right? I will also try to bacon and carnation instant breakfast. I could drink that on my way to work. A quick note: My doctor prescribes me generic zofran for nausea. It works wonders! It is a tiny pill and I take one every morning because my sleeve doesnt like Water or anything really on an empty sleeve. This enables me to drink milk in the morning without the discomfort. I dont have to worry about nausea at all. Its soooooo much better than phenergan. Phenergan puts me to sleep but zofran doesnt. I like that its generic and free with my insurance. Maybe you should check into it with your doctor. Hope that helps some with discomfort with milk, or alternatively you could take a lactose pill over the counter.

Need Help with Protein Please...
Thanks for the tips. Greek yogurt is a little on the tart side but I had not thought of adding granola or something to it to make it taste better. I like vanilla yogurt like the mcdonalds version..teehee.... so I think I might try vanilla greek yogurt with granola. God knows I am not eating enough calories so I am not going to sweat that right now. I had not thought of making protein puddings either. I love pudding. I might be able to eat that pretty well too. I could not and still have problems with Jello. Weird huh? My sleeve doesnt like it. It sits in my stomach like a rock and feels uncomfortable even if I let it melt in my mouth and swish it between my teeth! I just gave up on jello. I can eat pudding though just really slowly to prevent from over doing my sleeve. It doesnt like thick things like that. I am not a fan of chocolate usually of any kind. I am going to order some unflavored powder to add to things. Maybe I can experiment and find something that works. The cottage cheese thing is all in my head I know but its hard to get passed that. I might try the instant breakfast. At least it has some protein. Also, What kind of string cheese are we talking here? The light sargento ones or just any of them in general? I can eat string cheese. I will try that too. I bought some lunchables and it says it has 18 grams of protein in it.. I am going to leave the crackers off. Thought I might get through half of it anyway. I think my main problem is that i have a LOT of restriction. Three or four small bites and I am done! I have to wait and eat a little more and wait...etc.. So basically I am grazing to get the little bit i get in! I appreciate all the suggestions from everyone and I am going to keep on trying! Making a list and I am ordering some unflavored protein now! Thanks!

HOW can u possibly get 60+grams of Protein without supplements??
I just posted this same problem in the wrong area! Oops. I too, struggle hard with this. I guess I have a smaller sleeve than others because I cant hold that much at a meal! That would definatelly make it easier! I can barely hold a whole egg. If I add cheese to it or sausage or anything else I can only eat half of it and that defeats my purpose. I can only hold about 1 1/2 oz to 2 oz of chicken or fish. Ughhh this is so frustrating. I am only getting about 400 calories a day on a good day and about 25 to 30 grams of protein.. not even half of what I am supposed to get! HELP!

Need Help with Protein Please...
Hi again. I am having serious trouble getting my protein in. I dont do shakes or bars because they are just downright nasty to me. I have to try to get it from food and I am really struggling here. This past week I only got about 30 grams a day and that cant be good. I have tried several brands of shakes, etc and they just dont sit well with me. I also tried a few bars, I cant even get through a few bites. I am six weeks out and I cant hold a whole lot at a time. My dr. says to eat only three meals and no snacks. How do people do it? I eat eggs and bacon in the morning but I cant hold a whole egg. I bought costco shrimp because it had 26 grams of protein but thats for 4 ounces and I had to graze on them all afternoon to get 2 ounces in and thats only half the protein! I am so frustrated! I drink a glass of milk at night to get 8 more in and I had a half of a chicken burger last night with cheese on top. I dont know what to do! If anyone has any protein recipes for like a hot coffee drink or something, maybe I could try that. I know a lot of you have said that the protein powders dont do well in hot beverages though so I dont know. Anything that you think might help me would be so appreciated. I also cant bring myself to try cottage cheese or greek yogurt... the thought of it is not pleasant. Thanks to anyone who will help me.

As you lose weight what are you looking forward to??
I am looking forward to: being able to wear the cute jeans! being able to put on my shoes and tie them in the middle! not having the seatbelt dig into my sides on a plane. having my bra fit comfortably and not dig in and make red marks all the way around me. not huffing and puffing after climbing my stairs. being able to change my hairstyle and not worry how it will look on my face shape since it wont be so round! being able to exercise without all that huffy puffy feel like I am dying thing.... getting my self esteem back like it was in college! I was the S%^T! and I know I can be again. teehee

Having Major Second Thoughts
I told my surgeon that I was not drinking protein shakes, eating nasty protein bars or anything like that. His repsonse was okay, dont. I get my protein from my food. Its a little harder during the liquid stage but i had soups like bean and bacon and the ones with a lot of protein. I was on soft food after three weeks and so I had soft eggs, yogurt, cheese, milk, etc to get my protein. I am 6 weeks out and I refuse to drink protein drinks. I just wont do it. I take a b12 sublingual most days. It melts under your tongue and taste like a sweet-tart only its not tart.. like the powder in the straws we had as kids. Its not bad at all. Sort of a treat! Dont let that scare you off. Do more research and make sure its the right thing for you but I am loving mine!
