  1. So today is the day! I go to my final consult with the doctor today and the million dollar question for me is the LGCP vs. the actual sleeve. Has anyone on here gotten the LGCP? If so can you give me any information on it? My doctor has talked to me about both but there isn't a lot of stats on the LGCP. Thanks so much for all your help!
  2. Went to the psych evaluation today and the psychologist was super nice! Yet another member of Mercy Healthy Weight Solutions who goes above and beyond helping you set goals for the new you! As the surgery is getting closer I find myself more and more doing things in a more healthier direction. Last night my daughter and I went on a long walk with the dog, we did homework together and cooked together and at bedtime she read her books to me. It is amazing how positive I feel already. I can't wait to see how I feel after the surgery. I know there will be struggles but it will be worth it!
  3. I have not had my surgery yet but just spoke with my hair dresser over the weekend. She advised me to start using Nioxin hair care products and keep using them throughout this first year. She said although I will see some hair loss due to the shock of my system this will help replenish the hair growth! I am keeping my fingers crossed that it works!
  4. I am getting surgery 10/4! I am getting excited! Can't wait to start my way to a healthier me! Best of luck on your surgery!
  5. Spoke with the doctor's office yesterday. Surgery had to be pushed back to October 4th, 2011 vs. September 30th. I am so antsy to start on this new track of life but I have to remind myself not to get so worked up about things. Everything will fall into place! I can be changed by what happens to me. but I refuse to be reduced by it. -- Maya Angelou
  6. I have scheduled my surgery for September 30th and don't plan on returning until October 11th and then working 4 day weeks for the next couple of weeks after that. I also have a "desk job" and will be considered light duty. My co-workers have reassured me that whatever I need they will be more than willing to help out once I get back. If you do plan on going back early such as me, I would just ask the same of your peers and try and do 3 to for day weeks for about a month. Best of luck!
  7. I just turned 29 and my surgery is scheduled for September 30th. I also have a daughter who is 6. So you aren't the only one in an odd transitional stage! As a single mom I have odd feelings to about where I do and don't fit in! Honestly, when it comes to the surgery check out all of the forums! I haven't really checked out the 20's or 30's where I didn't "fit in." All the forums seem very insightful! Best of luck on your VSG journey!
  8. Wow! That is good to know! Thank you so much for sharing! I have started a food journal and dieting even though my surgery isn't until September 30th. I am going to have to cut out as many carbs as I can prior to even the 2 week pre op diet my surgeon requests!
  9. Thank you so much for your post! I have completely decided on the sleeve and very excited about this journey. I am starting to hear all of these horror stories about the band and you are right think twice, cut once. Hope you don't mind me asking but how is your pregnancy with having the band? I am still young and have 1 daughter but would like to have more in a couple years hopefully. Any issues? Thank you for being so honest and letting me know the problems you have had. It really helps!
  10. Hi all! I am starting on my VSG journey! There are so many emotions being so young and a young mother. I recently turned 29 and have had medical issues since I was 2 (arthritis and fibromyalgia). I have battled weight all my life and I am ready to make the change. I really thought I wanted to do the lapband, but after meeting with my doctor a week ago I am now leaning towards the sleeve. What made your mind up to go with the sleeve vs. the other options?
