  1. WOW, I think you are both doing great....I was banded on 12/16 and I'm only down 17lbs..yea that's right only 17 lbs..I had my 3rd fill on 3/12 and now I finally feel some restriction. My dr seems fine with the amount of weight i loss, or should I say lack of weight I lost.lol..He says it needs to be slow b/c I'm on the smaller end of a lap band patient. Well i'm glad he feels that way but I'm ready to shed these pounds.
  2. ummm sorry, but i don't...
  3. If you haven't gotten a fill yet it's highly unlikely that you have any restriction, therefore you won't have a stuck episode. I didn't get my first stuck episode until after my 3rd fill which was on 3/12. Before that i could eat any and everything and didn't have to worry about small bites. Now I have to chew and chew and chew and then chew some more and still sometimes it gets stuck. Trust me, you don't want to get stuck, it's not pleasant at all....good luck to you on your journey
  4. I called them everyday sometimes twice a day, after about a week i was told i was denied, asked them for reasons then i phoned my dr's office and informed them to schedule me for sleep apnea test once that test was done i had the drs office fax that info and i again, called everyday, twice a day until they told me don't call us, we'll call you when we get approval..lol...needless to say i called back the next day to check on status and then the next evening they called me to say approved....had surgery on 12/16
  5. WOW!!!!! such a great post.... i want to get my groove back. I want to feel good about myself again I want to wear cute clothes again. I want to not have a muffin top. I want to no longer feel FAT but fell FABULOUS.....
  6. I feel your pain, I was banded on 12/16 and prior to being banded I hardly cooked at home, it was always fast food and take out..Now that I'm banded I can honestly say that I really don't crave them anymore. The only thing that I am wanting really bad is a COKE...OMG I COULD JUST TASTE IT.....
  7. congrats and keep us posted on your progress....and take it easy these next few days...

ok ok ok...so how much did you drop???
  9. CONGRATS TO ALL OF YOU...I was banded on 12/16 so I remember the feeling of wanting to chew something..Trust me, the first time I was able to eat mushies I had an egg...that was the best darn egg I had ever eaten..lol
  10. It's normal to feel anxious, I've had 6 surgeries prior to lap band, yep i said 6.lol (3 sinus, 2 c-sections and appendix) so I was a pro at surgery and I was still anxious the week of my lap band surgery. Like all the previous post said, ask all the questions you need b 4 hand, and let your dr know that you're feeling anxios, they can give you something for that. Good luck on your journey, I'm sure you'll do well
  11. B-52 thanks a bunch for all of your advice..I love reading your responses to the different post on here. I swear, you must live on this site b/c you're always helping ppl out...thanks a bunch and i just ate a avocado and 1/2 of turkey burger (meat only) and it went down with no probs....I'm excited
  12. Thanks Brandi and everyone else that gave advise. You're right, we can do this!!!! thanks a bunch
  13. Last fill was this past Monday, and it didn't happen immediately after b/c i was on liquids for a few days, then moved on to soft foods and that's when it all started. I keep liquids down with no problem, I will see how it goes the next couple of days and I'll eat slower and chew more and see if that helps any. If not I'm calling the Dr...
  14. B-52, but I'm throwing up when ever I try to eat anything, even soft foods are getting stuck...I really don't think this is what it's supposed to be like, I'm new to this, I had surgery 12/16
  15. so does it mean I'm too tight?? I really don't want a unfill...
  16. Emonie, i have BCBS Illinois and my BMI was 35 when I started this journey, and I was approved. I had high blood pressure and was denied 2 weeks after paperwork was sent in, b/c i only had 1 co morbitity. I then had a sleep study done and have sleep apnea Dr resubmitted paperwork and a week later I was approved. But this was after calling everyday bugging the heck out of them. I was in a time crunch b/c i wanted to have surgery before the end of 2011 b/c i had already met my ins. ded and would pay 0 out of pocket. I made it happen and had surgery on 12/16, one week after approval. Yea me....
  17. Ok, I went on 3/12 for my 3rd fill and prior to this I had no restriction what so ever. I could eat what ever i wanted, didn't have to worry about chewing 5000 times lol nor did I have to worry about eating really slow...Well now, I have to make damn sure I eat at turtle speed and have to really chew my food up really well or else it get stuck. The pain from that is horrific, to the point where I'm kinda scared to eat, and now I really miss being able to eat like i use to. I know I sound crazy b/c when i had no restriction i was begging for it, that's why they say "be careful what you ask for" lol...I know i'll be glad when i finally see the lbs coming off but I have to be honest with myself and say that I'm really missing my food...
  18. After the first week after dr's office submitted my paperwork, I called my insurance company everyday, sometimes twice a day...no lie...It got to the point that I called so much once they approved me they called to let me know i was approved and that they were going to fax paperwork to my dr...
  19. i had my 3rd fill on Monday and my first stuck episode today..OMG it is soooooooooo painful....i had to make my self throw up to relieve the pain....
  20. You are NOT alone, i was banded on 12/16 and only lost 14 lbs....yea i know, it sucks...Just had my 3rd fill today so I'm praying for restriction....
  21. 32 lbs since November is good....Trust me, I had surgery in Dec and only lost about 13...so trust me, it could be worst...Keep your head up, you're doing great

I started Zumba 2 weeks ago and absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! It's so much fun and doesn't really feel like a you're working out. My first class was REALLY funny trying to keep up and I actually told the instructor that she made me feel as though I was no longer a black girl, b/c i had NO rhythm what so ever..lol. But even though I didn't know the moves I tried them and really did get a good workout. I go 3 days a week and I look forward to my classes. Try it out, I think you will enjoy....
  23. I feel your pain, my surgery was 12/16 and I have NO restriction what so ever. I'm going in today for my 3rd fill, so I'm praying that I will finally feel like i have a band...
  24. Wow....your Dr is leaving and you weren't notified by letter?? Great customer service....Did they recommend another Dr for you? geesh
