  1. Thank you I had a long journey to get here. I started in Aug 2011 with the lapband at 283 and had the lapband removed in february and then had the sleeve in march so it's been a long year! 3 surgerys all within 6 months!
  2. I finally made it to 199...I've been trying for a few weeks now! This makes everything worth it..
  3. I never got a drain..I'm wondering if that's a good or bad thing?
  4. About 4 years ago I lost 100 lbs within a year by counting calories and working out. I'm assuming that would be no different then what I can do with the sleeve but it will just be easier because I have a tool to help me with my eating. Luckily for me I have it all tracked on calorie-count.com so I can compare how fast I lost the weight 4 years ago to how I've lost the weight with the sleeve. I've averaged about 18 a month with the sleeve and about 7 from the first weight loss attempt. I should quit worrying I guess!
  5. Thanks for all the replys! It's good to know that there is hope and this isn't all that there is. I have been working my butt off I'm at the gym for 2 hours 5 days a week. SOmetimes I think I should have saved that for after the 6 month mark because it will be harder to work harder then what I'm doing now if that makes sense.
  6. It seems like my nutritionist and doctors put a lot of emphasis that the first 6 months is the "window of opportunity" for losing weight and after that it will pretty much come to a stop. I will be 3 months out on Thursday and Have lost only 50 lbs. If this is the case I only have 3 months left of losing weight. Does the weight loss really stop after 6 months or does it just continue at a slower pace?
  7. I can tell you first hand that it is totally worth it! I had the lap band only for 4 months before I got that dreaded thing out and revised to the sleeve. With the sleeve you can pretty much eat anything once you're stomach will tolerate it. I actually have that naturally full feeling that I never got with the band. There is no maintenance such as fills and no worry that you've made your band slip by throwing up. You do get an uncomfortable full feeling if you eat too much but it's nothing like the heart attack feeling you get with the band. I am so dissapointed that I put my body through 3 surgurys I should have just chosen this one in the first place. With the band I lost about 20 lbs in those 4 months. With the VSG I've lost about 50 and it's been 2 months. I think that if you are considering it, it is a good choice.
  8. I was just wondering if any of you have experienced this. I've heard of people losing inches but not weight but I think I'm doing the opposite. I was sleeved on March 14 so I'm 7 weeks out. I started at 251 and I'm now at 214. I also has the lapband for 2 months prior to that and started at 271. That is about 50 lbs of weight lost but I'm still wearing the same size pants! How can that be? You would think that I would atleast go down a size right? Nope...still fits
  9. My period came 2 weeks late after surgury
  10. I had the same rash I was allergic to the omeprazole
  11. No I didn't really have any issues. I threw up once but that was my fault. Other then that no nausea and no gas. I seemed to feel normal by day 6.
  12. Wow your stats are close to mine. I was sleeved march 14 and I weighed 247 and I'm also 5'4. My last weigh in this morning was 229 so 18 lbs lost.
  13. This was the first time I vomited. I also had the lap band before. I ate too much soup which is what stage I'm in right now.
  14. Thank you guys it really worried me. It's the first time I've thrown up since surgury and i just could stop gagging and it scared me
  15. Okay thank you. Did you get sore after throwing up?
  16. Does it seem like you throw up harder with the sleeve? Maybe its just me but I've never thrown up that hard before.
  17. I started thrwoing up and I mean HARD. Can it cause a leak?
  18. Hi everyone I was sleeved on March 14. So far things have been pretty good. I've been shopping and went to Walmart to get some walking in. I still can't kick this hunger thing. I know that I can't eat physically but my mind is teling me I'm so hungry. I'm still on my liquids diet and I hope that this will get easier!
  19. I'm going on the second day and still nothing. I hope I don't get it because it sounds pretty horrible. I burped a couple times and that's it. I've also walked the hallways 4 times and down to my upper gi.
  20. I was sleeved yesterday morning and haven't had any gas. When did it start with you guys?
  21. Hi thank you for replying to me! I realized I probably put my post in the wrong section as I didn't realize that there was a section for people who were banded. I don't know how you could stand to have the band that long. I dealt with it for a month with the slippage and threw up everything I ate. Once it was removed, I was back to normal again and felt complete releif. The bad thing is that I've been eating like crazy for the last weeks knowing that I'm going to get the Sleeve. I'm hoping that the recovery will be similar but I'm hoping I'll be less hungry this time. My surgury is set for March 14 so I've got 6 weeks to go and have already started my liquid diet. I hope that it goes well as I hope yours does too. I've also been watching you tube videos. It's amazing how fast and quickly those people have changed. I'm considering doing one myself but I'm a little on the shy side.
  22. Hi everyone. I am due to get sleeved on March 14, and as the days get closer I'm getting more nervous. I'm 25 years old and have been overweight pretty much as long as I can remember except those few times I've lost over 100 pounds only to gain it right back. In August of 2011 I had a lap band put in which failed the first time I got a fill. My dr poked a hole in it and that started a long series of events that lead to a slippage. I then decided to have it removed 3 weeks ago and convert to the sleeve. If there is anyone out there who has went from the band to the sleeve I'd like to hear your experience. One surgury for me has now turned into 3! I'm excited to get to know all of you. April
  23. I got my lap band about 12 weeks ago. My first fill my Dr poked a hole in the tubing. Im having surgery to fix the port Jan 4. Yesterday I found out the band has now slipped and is sitting on the top of my stomach with no pouch. I can't eat anything without throwing it up. He is supposed to stitch a flap of the stomach over the band so this doesn't happen. Did i do something wrong here? My Dr and nurses don't seem to care
