  1. I would simply show him the guidelines from your surgeon showing that they require chewable vitamins this early after surgery.
  2. I did - I had my surgery at St. V's Bariatric Center of Excellence with Dr. Diaz. It went wonderful! Where are you having your surgery done?
  3. I was sleeved Weds - I only had to be on clear liquids for 3 days but now I have to be on full liquids for the rest of the month. My nut's definition of 'full liquids' seems a little more broad than others, though. I can't have tomatoes for 2 months because of the acidity.
  4. I'm on day 5 and have been able to walk, lay in my bed, etc. I'm a little more tired than usual but otherwise feeling pretty good. Have you been doing a lot of walking? I think that is what has made me feel better (I recall after my c-section it was the same thing - tons of walking helped the healing process immensely). I'm going back to work on day 8 and don't anticipate any problems. You might want to call your surgeon's office if your pain is that excruciating.
  5. Since I'm not going to be off more than 7 days of work I didn't need to worry about claiming disability or FMLA - so I just took a few vacation days and told my boss I was having a minor medical procedure. Most of the people I work with know what type of surgery I'm having and those that don't know now, will likely know soon (they are a gossipy bunch). I'm not a very private person so I'm not worried about it.
  6. If you're drinking sugar-free soda (pop) the rumbling is probably excess gas. My surgeon and nutritionists said no carbonation or caffeine for quite some time due to the healing process.
  7. I was sleeved on the 10th and agree with you - the first few days were ROUGH. Today is my first full day at home and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm already on full liquids so that is definitely helping.
  8. In my mind I thought I would go on a wild binge, but I decided that having a "last meal" meant that I couldn't eat certain things ever again. I feel like once I'm completely healed and close to or at goal, there's really not much I can't eat in moderation. However, the night before I started my pre-op diet I did go out for a nice steak dinner since I can't have red meat for 18 months (with the exception of lean ground beef).
  9. The roadside lemonade just mixed with water tasted kinda weak so you could taste the protein in it. I think if you mixed it with crystal light lemonade it might taste better.
  10. I'm not allowed tomatoes or tomato soup for the first month, but my first month is considered 'modified solids/full liquids' so I can have cottage cheese, soft cheese, yogurt, strained cream Soups, refried Beans, etc. Today was my first day for full liquids rather than Clear Liquids. I did well at b-fast with 1 oz cottage cheese/1 oz unsweetened applesauce. However, I tried a string cheese at lunch and couldn't finish it - I'm not sure if the feeling was "full" or if it was just too much too soon on my baby sleeve, but I was able to finish 1/2 oz of it and 1 oz of sugar-free chocolate pudding. I'm going to try strained cream of mushroom soup for dinner - an oz of that and probably another oz of applesauce.
  11. I am drinking my first protein shake and these are not too bad. Has anyone ever blended with warm decaf coffee? I'm going to experiment tonight. Since these have 30 gms of protein and only 11 oz, I think this is my best bet as the other powders I've tried have grossed me out.
  12. Agree - my doc says any non-carbonated, sugar-free and caffeine-free fluids count - including decaf coffee and tea, milk, etc.
  13. I'm going back to work on day 7 - I'm hoping that my swelling is mostly gone by then, although most of my co-workers know about my surgery anyway so I'm not worried about it.
  14. I saw that article the other day. I think it makes a lot of sense, no matter how often I have tried to lose weight, I always return to this weight I am at now. Thanks for sharing!
  15. Glad you are doing well!

My doc's list of full liquids (they call modified solids) includes all kinds of beans smushed up (refried is one of them), cottage cheese, oatmeal. I get to start these tomorrow, but I'm not going to go crazy right off the bat. I'm thinking mostly yogurt and maybe cottage cheese for the first couple days, then if I tolerate that well I will try the beans.
  17. Syntrax has a nectar protein powder that is cappucino flavored; I plan to mix that with my decaf in the mornings. I hate to give up my caffeine but at least I can have my decaf.
  18. A lot of people on here have said that hunger after eating is likely due to acid. Are you taking anything for reflux or any antacid?
  19. I bought unflavored calcium crystals from Bariatric Advantage. My goal is to mix it with decaf coffee in the morning along with a packet of the nectar cappucino protein. Hoping that works for me and allows me to kill two birds with one stone.
  20. I didn't try the mixed berry package from Celebrate yet, but I wonder if it would dissolve in warm water better and then mix with cold water to drink it? Or maybe mix with crystal light or decaf tea? I'm willing to try anything, the chewable vites are gross as can be.
  21. My husband takes the generic Effexor XR and they are capsules. My surgeon said capsules are generally OK because they dissolve pretty quickly. He doesn't want me taking any tablets that are larger than an aspirin, though.
  22. Jamee - the stomach rumbling might be acid. Did your surgeon prescribe you any kind of antacid or reflux script? My only stomach rumbling has been due to gas, I do not feel hungry at all and only eat because i am supposed to. Jmiller - I have a case of Protein drinks from costco but I'm not supposed to start them until day 6 or until I have a bowel movement.
  23. There's also a combined multivite/calcium by Celebrate that is a powder, it's berry flavored. I haven't tried it yet but I have a single-serving. I think I may need to try it because the children's chewables I bought are DISGUSTING. I also had to buy chewable iron and I'm dreading that too, it smells horrible. I may try to dissolve it in Crystal Light but not sure how much better that will be.
  24. I take 3 capsules, 3 times a day for my ulcerative colitis - and they are pretty big. We tried to empty them into juice but it was AWFUL - like not even possible to drink. My surgeon is OK with me starting to take them tomorrow (my surgery was 8/10) - he just wants me to take one, wait 10-15 mins . . . so i'll be taking them all day long it will probably seem!
  25. Thanks for the update! I gained about 12 lbs as well from the fluids - I can tell i'm starting to get rid of them now because I'm peeing a lot more than what I am drinking. I can't wait to start full liquids tomorrow, a month of that then onto purees!
