Yep, all settled and watching tv.....I do feel bad though because Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos came in to see how I was doing and I had dropped my phone on the floor, and the first thing that popped out of my mouth was "I dropped my phone" and Dr. Aceves kinda reprimanded me saying "You need to say hello first"...so I replied "I just didn't want you to step on it, I'm sorry" It is my only link to hubby and kids--so guess I blundered that one! Hope he doesn't take my rudeness out on me when he takes the drain out! He was very professional, and many people on here said he had a great sense of humor, but I have yet to see the humor--maybe just having a bad day! Or I could be still woozy from surgery and my take on others may be skewed! Anyway--have a great night and thank you all again for your prayers and support!!! :love:

/Well, just got sleeved and am in my room recovering.....Dr A. was nice and so was Dr. Campos.....just an update!

As one who is up to bat at this exact moment---THANK YOU!!!! I need all the support and prayers I can get! Will be doing my surgery last today because I have had the band before and he wants to take his time and not rush...which is GREAT but leaves me feeling more anxious as time goes on...Anyway....will post as soon as able, and again thanks for the support, thoughts, and prayers!!!!

I am in the hotel right now, (absolutely gorgeous!!), and will be getting sleeved tomorrow by Dr. Aceves! Had the pre-ops done today...rather hurried and didn't like how we had to walk around in hospital gown....but overall good. The anesthesiologist said he was going to put some kind of pain killer in my spine, which really freaks me out!! Anyone else have that happen? I think he said it was for the pain after the surgery, not during it.....Anyway, would appreciate any and all prayers and good wishes! See y'all on the losers bench!!!

Hi--my surgery is Aug. 5th also!!! I am feeling the exact same things you are--excited, nervous, feel-like-I'm-gonna-throw-up, can't-wait-for-my-day-to-be-here ---plus about a million more feelings swirling all around me! I just have to have faith that God has led me to this decision and He will keep me safe!!! Good luck to you and God Bless!!!

Hi! My doc has me on a high-protein low-carb diet one week before surgery....it kinda sucks cause I absolutely LOVE potatoes!!!! :-) Chicken and eggs have become my new go-to meals and snacks!!!!

No kidding!!! I fly out the day after tomorrow---YIKES!!! I am so excited yet so apprehensive at the same time! I will definitely keep in touch and let you know of my experience down there!!! I was begging those who went before me to tell me what happened--and so far so good!!!! Please send up a prayer for me on the 5th and I will do the same for you!

YEE-HAW and YA-HOO!!! We are SOOOOO ready for our journey to the "light" side!!! This is our month to experience all the good things that WLS can bring!!! :bananahuge:

I can't believe that tomorrow will be August 1st, and all the "August All-Stars" will be sleeved so soon!!! We are embarking on a life-changing journey that will allow us to be better wives, husbands, parents, friends, and people! We are finally taking control of our lives and making the decision to be healthier, happier, individuals!!! YEAH to us and all we are reaching for! We CAN do this, and take back our lives, and live the lives God wants us to live---WE ARE THE ROCKIN ' ALL-STARS AND THE GOOD LIFE IS JUST AROUND THE BEND!!!

I am scheduled for surgery Aug. 5th with Dr. Aceves and have been contacting Nina for months!! She is wonderful, and I swear, has her computer taped to her hip!!! I e-mail her, and get a response back SO quickly that I told her I sometimes feel bad--she must never get a chance to get away!! Even at night!! Anyway, I think you are making a good choice, WLS is a huge decision, and you want to be confident in the surgeon you choose! Good luck to you!!!!

I seriously want to know why skinny people don't get the fact that although yes, I can diet and exercise and lose a little bit of weight, that that same weight will eventually come back home and bring along about 20 more of it's friends? Is it a hormonal imbalance? Chemical imbalance? Is it the fact that they drop 20 pounds without even trying so it should be just that easy? Are they just secure in having the "fat" person in their life to make themselves look better? The Yin to their Yang? The cheese to their macaroni? (on the low-carb part of my pre-op diet, dreaming of pasta!!) I get that they love you and are worried, but shouldn't they be more worried about your health and well-being? Super morbidly obese is just not a fun term to throw out there; I mean really; not just obese, not just morbidly, but let's just string them together and put a big ol' SUPER in front of it! So if you are skinny, or you have friends that are, could you give me some insight as to why it is so hard trying to convince the skinnies that this surgery is a GOOD thing? This fatty would sure appreciate it! :funscale:

"I'm really sorry to hear that about your husband. I feel like it's so hard for someone who has never experienced the pain of being overweight and trying time and time again to take it off with no success to understand our reasons for making this choice. It takes a lot of courage to admit to yourself that you need a little extra help if you want to take this weight off for good. Most of us on this site have additional, psychological issues with food, that make it impossible for us to simply lose weight through diet and exercise. I can't count the number of times I've seen the word "binge." The great thing about this surgery is that it finally allows us to beat the psychological factor due to physical limitations. Because with the surgery, you CANNOT binge (at least at first it seems). You are literally forced to limit the amount you eat or you get physically sick. For many people this might seem horrifying. But for me, the first thing I thought when I was researching this surgery and saw that information was "thank G-d!! Where do I sign up??" Most of us on here realize that this is not a quick or easy fix. But we are determined to take our lives back and become happy, healthy individuals. The sleeve is an extremely powerful tool in helping us accomplish that goal and change our lifestyles and eating habits permanently (just look at the "success stories" section!). I think your husband needs to realize that." Thank you so much for this response..just told my skinny best friend about my decision to have this surgery and she suggested that I do a "team approach of calorie counting and exercise with her and my hubby" to try and lose the weight. We have been best friends for 35 years and I have always been the overweight-sidekick to her tall, thin self.....she was NOT supportive in the least, and thinks I am crazy for doing this! I think I am going to print your post and several others to prove to her that what I am saying is not out of the norm! Good luck to you in this journey!!

My husband has some of the same issues. He keeps telling me he doesn't want me to die, he can't live without me, the kids would suffer, etc.... I told him that if I can't have the surgery I would probably get diabetes, have a heart attack or stroke, or shave about 10-15 years off my life. If I had the surgery: I could play more with the kids, be more active with him (walking, hiking), feel better about myself, and want to have more sex, maybe even with the lights ON!!! :wink_smile: I pretty much told him that I was doing this, and I would love his support, but if he couldn't support me, I was still doing this anyway. It is for me and for how I want to live the rest of my life: long, healthy and happy! Just pray, ask God to open your husband's heart, and everything will turn out right!!!
