  1. Have you talked with your primary care physician? Your regular doctor should have all sorts of medical history for you. Maybe there is some useful info in your file and your regular doctor will write a letter of recommendation. Mine did, which was the start of this process for me. I also had records of prior weight loss attempts from a diet center, Weight Watchers, etc., and even history of my primary care physician trying to help me lose weight. Think of anything at all that you can submit. Good luck, it sounds like you will prevail on this.

  3. I think it depends on your doctor. If I am getting my Protein in I don't have to drink the shakes. However, it is often just too much trouble for me to prepare high-protein foods, so the Protein shake is a no-brainer meal for me until dinner. For me it is a lack of appetite for real food, and a bit of laziness. When I was traveling, I knew I couldn't count on getting my protein on the plane and in airports so I felt it necessary to take my shakes.
  4. It was a great trip. I do love the trains there. We have no public transport where we live. I hope you have a great trip too!
  5. Where are you visiting? OMG, Pimm's was so good. Is it a salad or is it a cocktail? I am going to go to the liquor store today to make Pimm's lemonade here at home.
  6. In Scotland, we visited Glasgow. There was plenty of good food to be had, but most of it was a high in fat. Prior to Glasgow, we spent 12 days in Sheffield, England. Again, plenty of good food, but since we were there so long we figured out the healthier options for restaurants. If you just want to pick up a Protein snack, be sure to check out Marks & Spencer food halls. They have a nice selection of cheeses in ~ 1 oz servings, and also ready-made salads with chicken, etc. While on the go, look for M&S Simply Food (at train stations, etc.) which is the same chain and a fantastic selection of foods on the go. I am not a fan of the chain restaurants, but I don't always want to sit in a restaurant and sometimes a little snack from M&S was perfect to take back to our hotel room, or to take on the train. Oh, and I finally discovered Pimm's! What a refreshing cocktail!
  7. So I am finally back at home. As posted above, I was able to take my ready to drink Protein shakes through security at DFW, but with a complete pat down and swabbing. At London Heathrow, security wanted a doctor note, but since I didn't have one I just had to open a shake and drink it in front of them. They were very nice about it. Protein powders were easy enough to find, but I did ask my question in advance on TripAdvisor forums, as we were visiting a country where we did not speak or read the native language. I found it helpful to take my protein. Airline food can be too low in protein and way to many carbs for comfort. I'm pretty religious in my protein intake. There are no foods I cannot tolerate, I am pleased to say! I was confronted with a lot of greasy foods but in moderation everything sat well (except once, one bite too many of a potato). I actually lost a pants size while on vacation, can't beat that! I found that while most wait staff here in the USA are more accepting of my not finishing my food. I got a lot of questions about not liking my food when I didn't finish it, while in Hungary, England and Scotland. Replying "Everything was great, I am just full" didn't work as well abroad. One time, my husband told the waiter that I had already eaten, because they were determined to bring me something else more to my liking (since I didn't finish much of my entree, which was delicious).
  8. Well, happy to say I am in the lounge awaiting our flight with my Premier shakes and my meds. I did, however, get a complete pat down search and my luggage was tested for whatever they test for. They were extremely nice and concened about not upsetting me even though I told them I expected this might happen. Good experience! This was at terminal D at DFW. I know this hit or miss though.
  9. Thinking that was an auto correct, perhaps for "majority"? I am eight months out but not quite at pornography.
  10. I can't say I feel like that, but I can say that it does get better. Please hang in there and don't get too down. Things get much easier with time. I am at eight months so not an expert, but I can drink liquids normally, and there is not much I cannot eat. I wish I had done this years ago, I would have so many lost years back. You have gone through so much in the last week. Give yourself a little time?
  11. I have wanted to suggest this path to a friend of mine. I know she is struggling, but I don't think she is open to surgery, or perhaps insurance will not cover it. I just keep it to myself. If she ever asked, I would love to tell her about my experience, but I like her too much to risk any alienation. When I see strangers, it doesn't cross my mind so much, because I don't know their circumstances. It does make me grateful for my own progress though.

If you are allowed, you might wish to switch to whole grain crackers. Crackers are a post-surgery love of mine. Fancy, uppity crackers at that (lol). There are a lot of really nice whole grain crackers that will help you feel full. I think the baked Lays will end up being a slider food for you.
  13. I have put the
  14. I would definitely wait until you are at goal, or at least near goal. It might make a difference in your tattoo's final position. It would be a bummer to get it done, and then wish later that it was in a slightly different place!
  15. I am also a fan of the Premier shakes. I hated the vanilla until they recently changed the formula. I guess a lot of people hated the vanilla. Now I like both of them. I am eight months out and still drinking the Premier shakes. I have unjury too, but just the chicken and the raspberry sorbet. The raspberry sorbet I mix with lemonade Crystal Light. I have found it very easy to burn out on the Unjury. Don't over-buy, like I did.
  16. I have packed some protein bars but they are my last resort. They are barely tolerable. I keep them on hand but usually feed to my husband. Plus, the calories are too high for the grams of protein, IMO. My outbound trip is the long haul - I'll be traveling about 24 hours on several flights. The first one, leaving the U.S., is the long one, so I should be okay if I get them through the TSA since I will probably consume four between the airport and the flight. Can I borrow your plane? I know it is a total roll of the dice if the supplements make it on the plane or not but I am going to try. I will definitely put a copy of the email in each bag. How stupid of them to spoil the contents by opening them, but I can see that happening. If needed, I will ask for a supervisor, but I will not be totally surprised if they are confiscated. If they want to do the full body pat down, so be it. I am also carrying my small bottle of prescription liquid pain killer (but over the 3 oz rule). Now if they tamper with that, I will be having a hissy fit! Yes, I will report in afterward!
