Depressed
I had this problem too prior to surgery. My doctor didn't require me to lose a specific amount of weight before, he just insisted that I follow the pre-op diet to the T. This might be an UNPOPULAR answer, but Im all for pigging out prior to getting the surgery as long as you realize that after you HAVE to make huge lifestyle changes. Im currently below my goal weight and starting to reintroduce some treats that I miss from my past. Not chips and cookies and fried fatty crap, but things like a sandwich or some fruit juice. I was VERY strict with myself after surgery as this was my last chance. I had no bread, rice, potatoes or fruit juices of any kind. Had my first subway sandwich yesterday. Must say the bread was pretty tasty. Good luck

Need Comparison From The Pros
Thanks for the input! I was just wondering how far past capacity of others I had. I also low carbed for the last 7months under 30grams a day, but Im actually losing more weight than I planned to so I upped carbs and calories to maintain where I am now, BTW I still keep losing even with the added carbs!~

Need Comparison From The Pros
Hey Guys Sorry I haven't been around in a while, been swamped with school work and marriage plans (she got me). Anyway a quick update, have lost 120lbs and trying to maintain at goal of 180 though I could probably do another few I feel comfy at 180 and I don't want to be a really small guy. But my question pertains to restriction. I have always had great restriction, but lately I have been able to eat more. Granted its been 7 months and I expected some expansion but last night I was able to eat a whole subway 6 inch including bread and veggies and was full not stuffed! Just wondering how you success story guys have had this much change after this amount of time? Thanks

Guys Suck! Venting!
Yes we do! (hope that makes you feel better ) Geneticlly speaking woman are predisposed to maintaing fat. Men have a much higher muscle mass percentage and muscle is the fat burning factory. I.E the more muscle the more fat lost. You should grab a couple dumb bells and hit some curls everyother night. It will build more muscle and probably keep you from killing him in his sleep. PS- on the bright side you are losing!!

I Did It! (Cue Oscar Music)
Hey gang Sorry I have been MIA for awhile but I was getting obsessed with weight, it dominated my every thought so I decided to back away from everything weight related including my dark master the scale. So I just ate clean excercised and daily and went on my way. Decided to check the scale today and I am pleased to announce that I have SURPASSED my goal and since my goal was 200, that means I have been transported to ONEDERLAND! Still can't belive the speed at which it happened, from 311 to 196 in a touch over 5 months, Doc says Im atypical but Im a weirdo in every other way so it didn't suprise me. No more pre-diabetes, no more sore feet, no more bad ankles! I honestly feel like a teenager again. I can't remember the last time my weight began with a 1, I thought I was born 200 lbs!(poor mom) Anyway you guys were the first person I thought to share this with, guess I can change my profile pic from Fats to fast eddie now!

Protein Bars
Hey Gang Lately I have been HUGE into protein bars. They are dense and filling and I can eat them on the go, I also love the high protein. I was recently told about Quest bars, apperently they are the only low carb protein bar availible and their flavors sound delicious. You can only buy them on line so I ordered a case from Amazon and they should arrive today. They say they have 4-5 non fiber carbs, not sure what that means. Anyway has anyone tried these?

Bad Breath
It is one of the most common side effects of Ketosis. Luckily for me (and those around me) I didn't get it. Just gargle some listerine and think its a small price to pay.

They also come in Bleu cheese which has less carbs than ranch and creamy italian. Bolthouse Farms - Creamy Yogurt Classic Ranch Dressing Servings: 2 tbsp1 tbsp1 container (28 tbsp ea.) Should I Push It?
Hey gang Once again I turn to you guys for your expertise. Yesterday I was on the go and grabbed a grilled chicken breast and a small order of green beans. I didn't get a chance to weigh the breast but it wasn't huge. Anyway, I ate half the breast and 2 spoonfuls of the green beans, I was ok then but about an hour later I came back and finished the other half with one more scoop of beans. This was my dinner and I tallied the calories nothing too high at all and loads of protein in the breast. My question is two fold. First I always UNDEREAT my sleeve big time and Im wondering should I test my sleeve to see when the restriction kicks in? Im always nervous that Im overeating so I eat really small portions and just stop after that. My other question is does a whole chicken breast in about an hour seem like a lot to you guys? Granted it did take an hour to finish both halves, but I would have thought I would have felt much fuller even a little discomfort, didn't feel like it was thanksgiving dinner full or anything.

I Wish Someone Had Told Me....
for me it was the fatigue at first. I had no strength for anything. Going from 3,000 cals a day to posicles and crystal light is an extreme shock to the system. After that it would be the mental struggle. I have always had a passion for food and to watch other people enjoy the salty, greasy foods I used to covet was an uphill battle. Fortunatley things get easier and now when I see people eating McDonalds or other fatty foods Im actually glad im not a slave to those desires anymore.

Any Young Sleevers?
LOL. I must be grandpa in my early 30's. I saw on youtube a girl had the sleeve at like 11 years old! Though I think that's a bit too young there are def young people getting it done! Good luck on the journey.

Clothes Nsv
Finally got tired of people telling me how bad I looked in my clothes, so I decided to do some clothes shopping. I figured I was down to a 36 waist so I went perusing through the store looking for decent jeans and slacks. After 40 mins Im getting a little annoyed as I can't find anything in my size so I decide to leave. On my way out I bumped into a section that had some awesome man gear init. As Im thinking "why do they keep this cool clothes over here? I looked up and saw a sign that said MENS DEPARTMENT. I have been shopping in this same store for five years but I had always went to the BIG TALL section. I didnt even know they had a mens section let alone that I could fit any of these clothes!! Big guys are usually forced to buy according to what they can fit, it felt good to refind my own sense of fashion....looking good ladies!

What A Difference 18 Months, 20 Thousand Dollars Worth Of Surgery And 130 Lbs Lost Makes...
Always love reading your posts, its great for a male perspective on things! Sounds like you are on the last leg of the mental journey that goes along with the sleeve. i now I am still working on that aspect. People compliment a LOT lately and when I look in the mirror I still see that fat guy. But its like you say, its that little self defeating voice thats inside all of us that wants to keep you manic about some body issue.
