  1. Hi All, I hope everyone is trying to stay cool in this Summer, its hotter than heck here on the east coast. I am in New York and dying of heat LOL. Anyway I am about half way through my surgical check list or a multide of doctors appointments. So far this is what I have had done Psych Consult Done! Initial Surgical Consult Done! Pulm Consult Done! Sleep Study is tomorrow night ( should be fun) Gastro Consult Done! Upper Endo August 1, 2011 August 8, 2011 PCP physical After that I will have to see my surgeon and then have I think an ultra sound to make sure no blood clots. Oh yeah July 19, 2011 is my nutritional appointment I am going to start going to support grouops next Monday. I am so excited to get the sleeve and get my life back! Love Katie!
  2. First of all good luck with your surgery! Aunt Flo comes when she wants I hate her. Do you know the first question I asked my surgeon was about can I take my birth control pills LOL. What women wont do for not getting a period /
  3. I have the most bizarre insurance... it has this weird pre existing condidtion thing but I have gone with coverage for the past year so it was waived. Well since I was worried about my cheap ass insurance after I saw the surgeon I kept on following online to see if the claim was subittmed. So the claim was finally submitted and I waited processing...processing....processing... my nerves kept on going oh **** if this isnt approved I cant have the surgery. Well this morning I checked something about my medication APPROVED! Consult was approved!
  4. Hi All! Today was a great day for me. I was off from work and had my first two pre op appointments since making the decision to have the Vertical Sleeve. I first met with the Pulm this morning who was very nice. Its so nice going to a doctor for a happy reason ie bariatric surgery. He is doing a sleep study for me has anyone had one of those? They think I might have sleep apena mild but thats a good thing because it will put me ahead of line with my surgery. That condidtion plus my PCOS is pretty much autmoatic approval by insurance. Then I went to the psych consult I have underlying mental illness to begin with but I am treated for it and it has nothing to do with my obesity. PCOS is why I am heavy. Well that went well and I am starting going to support group next week! I am so excited its really hear it wasnt real to me until I saw the first two doctors.
  5. Just remember that you cant eat. Just stay strong you have done the best thing to you! Be healthy be strong think of the long run!
  6. So wish me luck everyone! Monday I have my psych clearance and Pulm exam. After that I am seeing my PCP in July and doing my Endosopy in about two weeks! I cant wait for this transformation! It looks like August
  7. I am meeting with my nutritionist Thursday its extremely important to meet with them and keep the appointments because they are the ones who are goin g to help you get through the tough parts when you want to eat! I cant wait to meet mine shes awesome we have emailed and spoken a few times before making the decisoin for surgery.
  8. Thanks for all your honest answers!
  9. I am just curious after surgery what will my number two look like nomral or will it be smaller?
  10. It has been a long time coming. I have been thinking of WLS for a long time, I am only 25 going to be 26 a month from tomorrow and have battled obesity for my entire life. My highest weight was 320lbs and now I am 287. After crash dieting, weight watchers, my own diet seeing diet doctors and seeing nutristionusts its come off and then it all comes back on. I suffer from PCOS and metabollic syndrome both which are genetic. I eat healthy and work out four to five times a week havent been good latelybecause I bruised my foot. Anyway I was going to do the lapband and was pretty dead set on that, I met with my surgeon with my parents the other day and after explaining to me all the WLS options the Vertical Sleeve seems to be the best bet. Its the safest I feel of them all! So I am set I am starting all my pre op appointments and except to go under the knife sometime in August-September.
