  2. Extreme weight loss leads to gallbladder problems. Hence me I was sleeved on May 16 2014. My gallbladder is long gone. I was on the Optifast program for a year and lost 81 lbs but gained it back, hence why I have my wonderful vsg. I had my gallbladder out

  17. I had joined this forum years ago because I was supposed to have my vsg only to have my insurance deny me, I then did Optifast and lost 81lbs lost my gallbladder and then ended doing it because my health was suffering from being in protein shakes. I then did weight watchers and ballooned back up to 300lbs over this past year, I needed to do something. My current insurance covers the procedure and here I am sitting from home sleeved. It was not a hard decision. I had made my mind up in February and in march began my process was operated on last Friday May 16 2014 and discharged yesterday, I am doing well and love this new start. My surgeon told me and my parents that if I had waited longer I would be diabetes by the time I was 30. It was the nick of time. I feel better I am tired but thst is only because of surgery. This surgery saved my life, recovery should be swift and I am looking forward to what is to come
  18. Hey All I have not been on here in awhile I had all my clearances done this past summer and was ready for surgery. As you remember I was literally down to the wire with setting a surgery date only to be denied my by insurance because it was not in our contract. I was not giving up the weight loss battle this weight had to come off. Being 293 lbs isnt healthy. I am proud to say I am working with a weight loss doc and am now down -38lbs!
  19. Dont get me started on Anthem BCBS. I am with them as well, good insurance but they do suck. All my pre op testing was covered, I am all set to set a surgical date and then I was then told it wasnt no longer in my contract. I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES!
  20. So I was told a few weeks ago about my insurance company not covering the surgery. Well I am going to submit for bed funds wish me luck!
  21. At least you know your insurance will cover it. Mine took it out of the contract...

I want to thank everyone for your support. I called my insurance company and the news is true. I just got my request for bed funds application from the hospital I am going to try and get funding cause I meet the income requirements and while I go through that process I am going too work with a doctor to do medifast and medical weight loss. As long as the weight comes off I will be happy. Also, if I get new insurance I will immediately get my surgery

Ok all I am angry! I am so upset over my insurance company. As of May 1, 2011 I was off my parents amazing insurance and onto my company insurance which was fine. I was on Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kentucky. As I was researching surgery I was told that it was covered and then this week I got a call from my surgeons office that it was taken out of the contract. I am so upset... I dont know what to do. Anyway my surgeon, PCP and Psychiatrist all recommended the same weight loss docotor. So I am going be doing medical weight loss.
