  1. I think you should go to your PCP so they can do a full workup on you. If you lost weight like this w/o the band w/o trying, that would be a red flag and your docotors would search for a reason. If you have been doing the same thing for years, maintaining your weight and then all of a sudden loose 20+ lbs, that is just not right. I am not trying to be an alarmist and Im sure your fine, but I think it would be smart to pursue this.... Good Luck!!!
  2. I have a 10cc band and am up to 4cc and I feel no restriction yet at all.....
  3. congrats!!! to you as well doodlebug!!!!! I cant wait to be able to say that!!!!!! you ladies are my inspiration!!!!!!
  4. keep up the great job Tabby!!!!!
  5. that has to be a mistake! it should cost under $200 for just a fill..... are you sure it was just for a fill??????
  6. Hi! congrats on starting the process! I know every situation is different BUT.... my mother has RA and her rheumatologist is ok with her having the lapband. He said she just has to plan her last tx exactly 4 weeks prior to the surgery date, so she wont be at too much of a risk with infection... she is on Orencia.... my mother does not take steroids though on a regular basis like yourself. It is a same day surgery, only takes about an hour or so, so I cant see you having to change your steoids although they may make you take a stress dose. I think that after you go to the information session, you should see your rhematologist again and tell him that you are serious about this procedure and make him explain to you why he is against it. He should be happy that you want to make the change and weight loss will help with less stress on your already aching joints! I wish you all the best of luck on your journey!!!!!!
  7. im self pay as well.... I had surgery on 5/31/11... My fills/ visits are included for the first year... I was just willing to take the chance..... I had enough money for the surgery but no savings for a redo..... I needed to take the risk to have a better life.... If something ever happens, Ill have to figure it out then.... I guess everyones view on it will be different.... I say go for it!!!!!! I dont regret it!!!! Ive lost 20lbs so far! Good luck in whatever you choose!!!!
  8. congrats!!!!!!!!! your an inspiration!!
  9. lea- I had surgery May 31st and I was curious bc I find myself getting nervous that if I exercise or lift something, its going to slip!!!! Melissa- Thanks for the info! Im sorry you had to go through that but at least you back on track now!!!!!!! I wish you both the best of luck!!!!!
  10. I was just curious- how do you know if your band has slipped? What does it feel like? Can vigorous exercise cause this? Thanks everyone!!!
  11. I had to walk A LOT to relive a bit of the gas pain. For me, it actually got worse on POD# 2 and 3. I was told to keep moving positions in bed so that the gas would eventually come out! It did help, but its just something that will pass (pun intended!!! LOL) Hang in there!!!
  12. i was self pay as well, thats a great way of putting things into perspective!!!! keep up the great work!
