  1. Do you ever wish you had kept your lapband surgery a secret? I know people are curious and I love the support, but I am getting exhausted from all of the questions that I keep getting asked at work. People have gone to the extent to ask me how many ounces of Fluid I have taken in per day and I don't understand why they care. Today my boss, who is really competitve when it comes to fitness/weight loss, wanted to know how much I needed to lose and what my goal was long-term. She basically wanted to know what my weight is now and that's my business and all my business only. I had my surgery nearly a week ago, but didn't know questions would start this quick. I am very open and don't mind curious minds at all, but there is a difference in people who just want to know for other purposes. I guess I just need to kindly learn how to say I'm doing good and leave it at that. I am not one to flaunt weight loss or act like I'm "all that" and I never have been.......I guess people just get worried that after surgery I'm going to get smaller than them. I think it's ridiculous. It's okay though because I'm doing this for me and my health! I hate situations like this because I'm really kind to everyone and don't want to appear "secretive," but issues with weight are sometimes touchy.
  2. I had surgery Thursday and went back Monday, but I agree with LBT Addict in that it all depends on the kind of work that you do. I have a desk job with minimal lifting, so I didn't have any trouble. Recovery for me has been a breeze.
  3. i am 4 days post op and don't want to drink anything. I'm just not hungry and I probably haven't been getting 400 calories per day, if that. I need to throw some apple juice in the mix. I didn't think about that being more calories. I hope I haven't messed up by not drinking much. I'm trying to choke down this protein shake now, but I just feel so bloated when I drink stuff. I think I still have the air in me that they pump you up with during surgery.....miserable! Love reading these forums....so helpful.
  4. I am feeling that soreness too. I had surgery on the 16th and was scared I had lifted something I shouldn't have! Also, I don't want to eat anything and I'm scared I'm going to end up dehydrated. I am trying to choke down a protein drink.
  5. Ok - My doc did give me a diet and it says liquids the first week. Milk is listed, so I assumed Protein shakes would be fine. I might try one tonight. Thanks for your feedback.
  6. I had my band put in on the 16th. Is it too soon for me to drink a Protein shake? I have been on Clear liquids, but I would like a Myoplex shake or at least a few drinks of one.
  7. I had my surgery the 16th. You will do fine and I wish all of you the best of luck!
  8. I haven't felt restricted at all up to this point. Is that normal? I can sit and drink a 16oz bottle of water fairly quickly with no problems. I am very sore and still leary of drinking protein shakes at this point because they are thicker.
  9. i have been wondering how I would know when I was full. I just got banded on Thursday and obviously can't tell I even have the band at this point. I'm glad you made this post.
  10. Thanks guys......I was a little hungry tonight so I heated up some Campbell's Soup at Hand. Just noticed my popsicles aren't sugar free and I have eaten a couple of those today.....hope the fact that they aren't sugar free won't hurt me too bad! I obviously picked up the wrong box! I'm so excited about this!
  11. I got banded yesterday at 8 AM and I'm doing really good, too. I am really sore in my stomach area, but it's not as bad as I had expected. I was wondering about the protein drinks and how soon I could work those back into my diet and I forgot to ask my doctor. Today I have been drinking juice, water, and eating popsicles. I just heated up a Cambell's Soup at Hand Chicken and Stars and it hasn't bothered me. I am so excited about our journey. Good luck to you! I had replied to this earlier, but guess it didn't go through......if it shows two replies I'm sorry.......
  12. I just had my lapband surgery yesterday and I am doing sooo much better than I expected I would. Of course, I'm super sore but I haven't been sick or anything. I am drinking quite a bit of water and apple juice though and I am wondering if that's a problem. What did you guys intake the first couple days after surgery?
  13. I have surgery Thursday and my doctor told me it was fine to drink the EAS Myoplex Chocolate, Strawberry, or Vanilla shakes up until surgery.
  14. Some people only have to do a 1 week preop diet anyways, so I doubt it's going to be a big deal. You still have a full week to go....it will be fine! I have been really strict on mine and probably shouldn't have been so "by the books." My surgery is Thursday so I guess I can make it a couple more days....lol. Good luck!
  15. Years back I had to see a specialist for an irregular heartbeat. I have my preop tomorrow for surgery Thursday and I a praying this doesn't show up on my EKG. Has anyone dealt with this before? I wasn't treated for anything and have been fine since then, so I guess I shouldn't worry!
  16. I am having surgery on the 16th and I have my doctors instructions, but still need specific examples of foods you guys have eaten during the 4 week post-op period. My diet will be one week liquids, one week mushies, one week soft foods, and then the 4th week I will gradually add in regular foods. Please help.....any recipes, websites, etc. will be appreciated. I think after this 14 day liquid/protein diet, a think of Campbell's Soup in Hand will feel like a big feast to me! I am happy I have done well with the liquid diet, but it has been an experience. Thanks for any suggestions you "experienced" people may have!
  17. I'm having mine this coming Thursday and planning to back on Monday. Everyone says I should be able to since I just sit at a desk all day. Hope their right! Good luck.

I have surgery the 16th and I'm worried about the skin issue. Did they tell you workign out would make it go away? I was scared the only option would be surgery, but haven't researched this end of it much.
  19. I sound pretty identical to you! I actually am on day 6 of my liquid diet. My surgery is scheduled for June 16th. I go out ALLLLL of the time and thought this would be the end of the world for me, but it really hasn't been that bad. My friends are really supportive, so this does help tremendously I'm sure. I have been drinking three Protein shakes a day, which fill me up and I haven't been all that hungry. I also drink lots of Water with the crystal light and sugar free Hawaiian Punch packets in them. They help to add something a little different to the mix. I went out with friends both Friday and Saturday night and drank Diet Sprite the first and pretended like it was a mixed drink....lol. The second night, I drank water with lemon and pretended it was a Vodka Tonic.....haha. I have always been a pretty big social drinker so this is a huge change for me. The only problem I have had so far is with my "bathroom habits." I guess when you don't eat like normal, you are as regular as normal. They are better now though. Feel free to email me with any questions you have or anything. My email is leanel_01@yahoo.com. I'm just getting started too and need all the information I can get. I have been talking to a lot of people so I might can answer some questions.
  20. I have my surgery Thursday the 16th and plan to go back to work on MOnday.......is that pushing it? I see you had yours on a Thursday also. I am glad to hear you are doing well after the initial hoopla that I'm sure we will all go through!
  21. Kristi and Kimme both took the words right out of my mouth. People have told me repeatedly that I don't need the surgery because they don't "see me as being as big as I think I am." I'm tired of listening to everyone and I'm ready to feel better about myself and be more confident. I have struggled with my weight all of my life and I want to turn 30 with no worries about weight! With a surgery date of June 16th and I plan to make this work. A big incentive of mine is that insurance wouldn't cover me, so this is a LOT out of my pocket and I need to make sure it works! I need support so lets keep in touch. leanel_01@yahoo.com
  22. eeeek.....I think I have been messing up. I am on day 4 of my pre-op diet and thought I could drink diet cokes. I have only had a few, but still! I think I misunderstood. HOpe this isn't going to set me back!
  23. Good luck! I'm know I will have mixed emotions when the time comes.....happiness, nervousness....it's just the unknown, but I'm sure it's going to be worth it for the both of us.
  24. Well, you are not alone. I have my surgery the 16th and I'm scared too. I have been wanting it forever....went for my consultation 5/31 and bam.....my surgery was scheduled for less than 3 weeks from my first visit. Of course, I'm private pay, so I didn't have to wait as long. I have been wanting this for so long, but now I'm nervous. How is you pre-op diet going? I'm on the 4th day of mine and actually it hasn't been that bad for me, which is shocking.
  25. Cool - you will be beating me by a week! We can help each other through. I've learned a lot on this forum. I"m about 4 days into my all liquid diet.....fun, fun!
