Irregular Heartbeat

Years back I had to see a specialist for an irregular heartbeat. I have my preop tomorrow for surgery Thursday and I a praying this doesn't show up on my EKG. Has anyone dealt with this before? I wasn't treated for anything and have been fine since then, so I guess I shouldn't worry!

I had an irregular heart beat years ago and even had halter monitor on. Nothing significant was found. I had lap band placed May 25th, 2011 and about a week or two prior to pre-op test I started having irregular heart beat again. I was freaking out thinking it was going to show up on EKG. I think stress and drinking nothing but Protein drinks, plus no caffeine prior to surgery had something to do with it. Anyways, had my pre-op EKG done and I was scheduled to have my appt with nutritionist 6 days prior to surgery date. I went into Dr's office and come to find out nurse said I had abnormal EKG and she had my chart on the Dr's desk for him to review to see if I needed a cardiac clearance prior to surgery. Girl, I was freakin out!!! But come to find out the Dr wasn't too worried about what was showing up. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Dr said sometimes it will show abnormal heartbeat but unless its something significant he wasn't worried about it. :) If you're not having issues with it now, nine times outta ten nothing will show up.

Good luck!!

Heather

Most people have occaisional irregular heart beats so since yours wasn't even anything that required treatment I wouldn't worry about it...
