Fertility Treatments vs. VSG surgery
Why can't you try both? Start the medicine now, gain weight, if you don't conceive then do this...if you do conceive do this after you have your baby.

Five weeks out and frustrated
Also, my post op instruction state that if this happens to go back to liquids again and allow your stomach to calm down again and in a week or two try again.

Prior to surg
Advil definitely not, I believe 7 days prior TALK TO DOC to find out. Also, ask if you can have Tylenol, I think you can. I've been having headaches and back pains, but I'm just dealing with it. I don't want to risk being refused by the Anesthesiologist.

WERE YOU NEEDY BEFORE SURGERY?
I've definitely seen stories of both. Its an adjustment for the both of you. If there is a problem after surgery, couples therapy is always an option! Good luck, I'm sure it will get better!

Having Surgery March 4th! A little Nervous!
Happy Surgery Eve to all the March 4 sleevers, and I have 5 more "sleeps" lol!

Regrets
I agree to maintain at the weight, probably 1000 would be realistic. Yes, Dani was correct I meant a reduction of 500 calories per day will allow for 1 lb per week. lol! Then remember muscle adds a little weight but burns calories!!!
-
lifting
In my doctors words, "you can trip and fall and injure your insicisions, but take it easy" I would take it light for a few days and see how you feel, if you need to call the doc, go ahead, thats what they are there for!

Tummy belt
I will use a good pillow and (this sounds bad), but I have one of those belts for belly weight loss which is pretty much an abdominal binder. I will be taking it off frequently as it doesn't breathe as well as a regular one and will keep it away from the upper incisions.

Cardio or toning what do u do post op?
A mix of both is best. Muscle building allows your body to burn more calories and it helps with skin elasticity (drink lots of water too). If you are within 15 days post op do what your doc says. My doctors rule of thumb is less than 15 lbs for 15 days. So in addition to cardio I will be doing exercises with lower weights, higher reps.

Regrets
That calorie intake seems high. If you want to lose weight rule of thumb is 500 calories less per day either reduced by exercise or through reduced intake per 1 lb per week. I hope that helps! Good luck!

Revision surgery time/weight loss goals
The probably end up at part is what to focus on. My doctor put it to me like this...I'll probably get down really low around 125, after 5 years statistics say that I'll average out and gain some weight back due to life long habits so I'll end up at 150. I can't answer the second question, sorry.

Surgery Date Wrong.
It might be a typo, stay positive and don't get discouraged! Call first thing Monday, I'm sure it will work out, no need to stress unnecessarily!

Preop Diet & Headaches?
Ok, so I've dieted a million times and I know to expect headaches, BUT this is crazy. I was on Phentermine and knew when my surgery was scheduled I'd have to stop taking it so I stopped about a month ago and of course headaches followed that. Now I am on a low carb preop diet and I had the worst migraine last night! I am getting sooo close to the date that I am scared to take ibuprofen or naproxen. I did last night because I talked to the nurse at the hospital. Anyone have headaches or pain just before surgery? If so, what did you take? Can I expect headaches post op too??
-
how long did it take you?
I saw the doctor and they set it for 2.5 weeks out, but I had to wait a week to see him, so about 4 weeks or so...
-
I'm thirsty all the time!
There is someone on here that I am now friends with who was back in the hospital for dehydration. She said the biggest advice she could give me is that water is more important than protein the first 3 weeks or so. Gatorade, G2, will be your best friend. I am taking some and freezing it and then making ice chips with it for electrolytes! Good luck!

Sugar daddy.
I want one too while you're at it! lol

I am still in the hospital 4 days out...
I would think the steroids will work. My doc told me he will make is tight and not to worry. He does this as he knows it will stretch eventually over the years. Its probably swelling and I would hope you won't be there much longer! Keep up posted!

Easier than i thought
lol, you are hilarious! Thanks for the update! I only took 3 days off work, I'll be back at work day 6, so you are very helpful with this input!

single parents?
I chose sleeve over band, bypass wasn't for me individually because of the weight, but also because of the malnutrition. I chose the sleeve based upon the facts and figures I found in my research!
