Pre-op weight loss?
I think this is pretty common. Not only do they want you to prove that you can be compliant, losing weight prior to surgery helps to shrink the liver which makes surgery safer and easier.

Pre-Op Diet
I don't know, I shouldn't have. It was mainly because I thought they wanted me to be very low and I was also nervous about needing to drop the 10 pounds, but since I felt like crap I bumped them back up and now I'm eating the correct amt. of calories and am back to feeling good. I also lost the 10 pounds I needed to lose!

Sweet Success!
I lost the 10 pounds I had to lose to have surgery!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited! Only one bummer, now I have a cold and need to shake it before surgery next week. I'll be pushing the fluids and taking my Vitamins that's for sure.

Pre-Op Diet
I'm doing well on the pre-op diet. I haven't been cheating, and have lost 9 out of the 10 pounds the doctor has requested. The first week I stayed a little above 1200 calories per day and lost about a pound a day doing that. Then the second week I was on all liquids, the first day I had about 500 calories and that gave me the worst headache and I was dizzy, so I bumped my calories up to between 800 and 1200 per day and that seems to be working very well, I stalled out for a couple of days, but am back to losing about a pound a day.

Help with Pre-Op Diet
Have you tried different brands? I really like the vanilla EAS brand at the grocery store, but with all of the shakes I have to doctor them up. I typically add Peanut Butter and banana. I know PB has a lot of fat and calories, but I only put in a small dollop. That has been working well for me. I just count the calories. I've also added cocoa powder and a little bit of sweetener, that kind of makes it taste like hot cocoa mix.

Need Help Expert
does it have to be Clear liquids? My surgeon's requirement after surgery are clear liquids in the hospital and then full liquids once I get home. Full liquids include: broth, strained/blended Soups (broth based and cream), Protein shakes, sf Jello, sf Popsicles, and clear beverages.

Calling all May Sleevers!
Thanks Holly! Good luck with your liquid diet, don't forget to get in your fluids in addition to your "meals". That's been a struggle for me and I think I'm slightly dehydrated because I keep forgetting to drink.

Pizza or Sushi ???
I've talked to several people about pizza. Two friends had surgery about 6 weeks ago and they both said that they can eat about half a slice of pizza.

Crystal Light
My current favorite beverage is Diet, Caffeine Free Arizona Iced Tea. It comes in gallon sized containers that are typically 2 for $5 at the grocery store.

Pre-Op in college
Though I do have a kitchen, I've been doing great with my magic bullet and microwave. I make myself two shakes per day, and then I have sugar free popsicles, Jello, and Soup. I beef up the shakes by adding ice and a small spoonful of Peanut Butter. The one I had this morning tasted like chocolate peanut butter ice cream! If you don't want to do the soup, you could do two shakes and then have one high protein, low cal meal per day. Good luck

Calling all May Sleevers!
The pre-op diet is hard today! 12 days till surgery day and today is the first day I've felt deprived with my full liquid diet. I think it's because it's the weekend and this is typically when my hubby and I go out to eat. I'm also getting bored of soup and sweet shakes. I just keep telling myself, this too shall pass.

You know you have started your liquid diet when....
LOL, this is soooo true!
