I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet and I can't have any milk products (not by choice)...but I am using ProteinBlitz from the Vitamin shop or GNC (it sounds similar to isopure). It has 30 grams of Protein, 120 calories and 1 g carbohydrate. I drink 2 per day to get my 60 grams of protein. They cost about $3 each and you can go in and purchase one out of their refrigerator. That way to don't have to spend a lot of money to find out if you like them. Good luck on your surgery. Toyia

You are not alone. My surgery has been moved from July 18th to Aug. 1 to Aug. 8th. So, I understand how you feel. But you are so close to the finish line...stay strong and you will have your new tummy and life soon. Toyia

Yes, I still have my meds from my first appt...I hope I can still use them. I will check with him when I have my next appt on July 29th. Toyia

Hi Ann, I had some bumps in the road along the way and I had to wait about 7 months to get my call...but I think the wait is shorter now. Best of luck to you. I am excited - Aug. 8th is the big day for me. My fingers are crossed and I hope I don't have any more bumps on this long road. Toyia

Good morning, I received my pre-op instructions ( I will have the same diet for 3 weeks after my surgery): drink 60 grams of Protein (shakes cannot be mixed with milk or milk products) Clear broth sugar free popsicles Sugar free Jello non-calorie beverages I thought that I could have the following products: milk the ability to add fruit to my Protein Shakes Carnation sugar free instant Breakfast Slim fast apple sauce I know I just have to readjust my thinking but I just don’t know if the items I can have will keep me full. I start my liquid diet on Monday. This week… I am trying to adjust my eating. I am having protein shakes with milk and fruit for breakfast and lunch, can Soup, apple sauce, sugar free popsicles and a regular dinner without carbs. Anyone have the same diet that I have...if so how are you doing? Any tips? Thanks in advance, Toyia

My doctor had me write a letter explaining why I wanted to have weight loss surgery and when I feel doubt or wonder what if...I can go back and read my letter and remember why I made my decision. Good luck... I hope to have my surgery on Aug.1st or 3rd. Toyia

On Face Book - Brian Scott Jagger is a personal trainer in CA...who is a personal trainer for people that had WLS. He had weight loss surgery as well and he also has web-training... You may want to look him up. Toyia

Hi Ann, I think so... at first Dr. Cantor was only doing weight loss surgeries on Mondays, now he is doing them on Mondays and Wednesdays. Are you on the Holly Cross Chat list? Sometimes, they send information out about Dr. Cantor's surgery schedule. Toyia

Hi Ann, I agree with lexusgirl14. I have Dr. Cantor also...and I had to wait about 7 months between my office visit with him and my surgery date. But, it looks like he is taking on more patients now...so the wait may be shorter. Toyia

I like to look on Expedia to see what airline has the lowest flights and then go directly to that airline to see if I can get the same price. Good luck and congrads on your surgery date... Toyia

The nut called me this morning and said that I didn't have to come in tomorrow. If Dr. Canton needs a new referral, his office will request one for me. Kaiser is aware of the long wait so I should be fine. The nut freaked me out for nothing. But, it was a good thing...because when she told me that my referral expired. I was so upset and I was crying. I felt like I have been through so much. This process has taken 18 months of my life. It has been an emotional roller coaster. I also received my surgery date from Kaiser today I am excited. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Tracy, Yes, I am using Holy Cross/Dr. Cantor. I have Kaiser *** so I only have one choice. I will keep you posted. Toyia

My nut said she hasn't had this happen to any of her other pts she is going to call the committee that approved my surgery and find out what I should do next. I also made an appt to go see her on Wed. So, she can have a record that I am still following-up. I can post again on Wed and let you know what happens. I feel bad because I didn't notice the expiration date on my referral, when the doctor told me the wait would be 4-8 months, I figured Kaiser was aware of this also. I was upset yesterday, but today I am glad I found out...so I can get everything straighten out by my July surgery date. Toyia

Thanks for sharing your information. I have Kaiser also, but I am in Maryland. They put us on a liquid diet two weeks before surgery.

I have Kaiser insurance. I have been patiently waiting for 7 months to get a surgery date and I just got a call for a date in July and now I find out from my nut that my referral expired (it was only good for 3 months). I am mad - smoke coming out of my ears mad...I hope I can get things straighten out soon The nut said she hasn't had this happen to any of her other pts. Has anyone else had this issue? Toyia

GW stopped working with Kaiser and all of the GW patients had to move to Holly Cross. But things should go quicker now. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Vicky

Hi, I am a pt. of Dr. Cantor. I am waiting for my surgery date now. I think it will be in July, because I turned down a date in June. I had my first appt. with Dr. Cantor in Nov. and I am just getting close to a surgery date now. In July they are adding more slots to Dr. Canton's schedule. When did you have your first appt with Dr. Cantor? Toyia

Hi Suzanne, Thank you so much. I stared this process on Jan. 1, 2010. I have been waiting 7 months for a surgery date. I have about 80-100 lbs to lose. I told my husband that I feel like I am going crazy...My mind keeps going back and forwards about all the reason I should have the surgery (health reasons, not as active as I would like to be, and I hate to see myself in a mirror) and all the reasons I could do this on my own with a personal trainer and Weight Watchers. So, I go from excited to scared and all the mixed up emotions in between. I appreciate this website so much...because it feels good to have additional support. Enjoy Vegas. After 1 1/2 years of going through the motions to have my surgery approved and waiting for a day…I just received my surgery date today - July 18th and I have been emotional all day. I am excited about my new life but I am also nervous about the changes. Will I be an outcast at dinner and will I turn into all skin… I am so scared. Toyia
