  1. Melissa, But how much weight have you lost in that 16 weeks?
  2. Thanks to everyone for your replies. It seems like some people really needed those recliners. Good to know. I'm a baby when it comes to pain. I need to do more thinking about this
  3. Hi everyone! Sleeve date is 2 weeks from tomorrow! Woot woot! So my question is: recliner or couch? Where did everyone recover? I don't want to go out and buy a new recliner if I don't have to but y'all say a recliner is easier I definitely will.
  4. My date is Aug 9th and for the past few days I've been eating like a TOTAL FREAK. I think I'm afraid I'm going to miss the taste of food or something. Well I need to get myself back on track. Yes, time seems to be moving slowly. I wish my date was tomorrow
  5. You guys are really exciting me! I can't imagine dropping 30lbs a month after surgery but you all have given me hope that it is completely possible and even LIKELY. Do you understand I haven't weighed below 250 for YEARS? And after being sleeved (not until 8/9/11) I could weigh less than 250 in about a month???? Thank you, thank you, thank you for this hope.
  6. Welcome! Congratulations! Keep posting on your progress.
  7. You look great. Keep up the good work and say no to the beer and candy
  8. Welcome! Be sure to keep us updated on your progress so we can be excited with you
  9. Rootman you're probably right. I'm glad you're doing so well 8 months out. I hope I do that well. I have about 130 pounds to lose and I'm afraid it's going to come off very slowly. Congrats to you though because it seems you're doing really really well
  10. Do you still have your gallbladder?
  11. Huh? How can you open up the sleeve? The stomach is gone!
  12. I think it's sad that those of us who have medical insurance through employers have to get a loan to have the sleeve surgery. Did you know government Medicaid pays for the sleeve for free? It's almost as if we should quit our jobs and get on public assistance in order to not go deep into debt. Do you qualify for Medicaid at all?
  13. Thank you for including all the details. Interesting to read. Glad you are doing well!
  14. Mine was a lot like Cliff's, lol. I was about to die when that treadmill was going fast on the steep incline. And it takes a few hours because they put you in a machine that takes the pictures.
  15. Linda, We have the same date! Good luck to you
  16. Thanks Tiffykins! Your reply made me feel better. Perhaps there is something mentally going on with her. I weigh a whopping 275lbs. so there are not many things that can deter me from going through with this surgery. Only the fear of dying so eventhough I can't imagine whiddling away to nothing, seeing this person really freaked me out.
  17. HEY MEGAN!!! YOU GET SLEEVED THE DAY AFTER ME! GOOD LUCK!
  18. Some of you all are quick but mine seemed to have taken FOREVER. My seminar was 4/28/11 and my surgery date is not until 8/9/11. 103 days.
  19. I went to my surgeon's office yesterday for my final pre-op appointment. The person working at the counter who makes his appointments and takes the insurance cards etc (I don't know if this person is a nurse or not) looked awful. She told me she had been sleeved one year and 3 months ago and still doesn't eat very much. In fact, she's so thin that her facial bones are sticking through her face and her eyes look like they are bugged out. She said the docs are trying to get her to GAIN weight. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Can't a person die from malnutrition? I was kinda freaked out!
  20. So I think I've had close to 30 appointments in preparation for my surgery. I'm really getting sick of this. Until now I saw a doctor about once a year. Now I have about 3 appointments per week - 5 more until surgery. I'm so sick of it. How many of these crazy appointments will I have after I'm sleeved? OMG. It's not like I don't have anything else to do. Oh, and did I mention that for most of these appointments I have to drive an hour each way? Oh and other than my enormous weight problem, I AM pretty heathly. No co-morbidities. Siiiiiiiick of it. Thanks for letting me vent.
  21. Can I ask when you had your sleeve done? This is a great story!
  22. Keep going Rootman! You're an inspiration!
  23. Thank you for posting. You've helped all of us see what we have to look forward to.
  24. Was it a 7 week stall or a 7 month stall? Seven months seems like a really long stall? Did you call the doc or see the nutritionist during those months?
  25. Thanks for posting your experiences. Gives me something to refer to when I go through this.
