  1. Congratulations! God bless you in your recovery.
  2. Great start! Looks like you're really on your way! Your insurance company doesn't require you to go through a 3 or 6 month nutrition program? Most companies do so you're very lucky.
  3. My doc told me they go by what your BMI was when you were first referred to the program. See if your insurance does the same. Good luck!
  4. Ooooo. I did see my GYN last year. Can't remember if they recorded my weight though. Maybe they did??? Little hope????
  5. BlkmikeG, Are you home yet? Sorry about your emergency surgery. Feel better soon. Keep us informed of a new sleeve date.
  6. The clerk called from my pcp's office today and said she couldn't send my surgeon a two year weight history because they didn't see me at all in 2010! I'm so pissed. The two year weight history is required by Aetna. What can I do now? Any advice? Please help.
  7. I didn't know you could gain all your weight back after having bypass. Is that possible with the sleeve too? If so, I'm really thinking I need some kind of support group.
  8. So the scheduling nurse called me back today and said my surgery is scheduled for 8/9/11. Before I was just hoping for that date but now I'm actually on the calendar. Now of course this is dependendent upon all my other doctor's appointments going ok and being cleared for surgery. I'm excited to have this date but anxious that it won't happen for some reason. ugh.
  9. Oh my goodness! At least you're keeping your spirits up. And thanks for your response. Glad to know I'm not the only one frustrated
  10. Maybe I'm feeling sorry for myself or something but I'm beginning to feel like I'll never get sleeved. I started this process in April but had been thinking about it for the last 2 years. Now that I know for sure I really want the surgery, it seems like it's going to take FOREVER to get it done. I don't want to live another day in this horribly fat body. I want to have my sleeve NOW. Anyone else feeling this way? Help please....
  11. BlkMikeG, I don't know where you are located but my doctor has cancellations each week due to insurance companies changing their requirements or patients changing their minds. Perhaps your doc has a waiting list for cancellations? This would be quicker than waiting several months for him/her to reschedule. I would definately check. Good luck anyway.
  12. If all goes well, Aug 9, Newark Delaware.
  13. I will be 40 years old this year and weigh 273.6lbs. I'm the fattest person I know. Sometimes I cry when I get dressed because I don't want to go out of the house looking like this and have people see me. Sometimes I make excuses just to stay home. I'm always the biggest person in the room. I've never had an opportunity to be the girl that men look at and say "wow". I don't take pictures with my family. I'm embarrassed to stand next to my great looking husband because I know what people are thinking. It's time for a change.
  14. Hi all. I have been to my first nutrition class and they suggested purchasing a "magic bullet" blender for after surgery. Does anyone who has had surgery own one and use it? I don't want another unused appliance under my kitchen counter. Thanks.
  15. Thanks Wishes. I think we'll be getting the sleeve around the same time. I'm hoping for August but don't have a surgery date yet. Anyway, thanks for both replies. I will try harder. You guys are great!
  16. I've gone to the seminar, had my consultation, met with a nutritionist and am on my 12 week, insurance required "diet". Has anyone ever lost weight on their 12 week program? I've been on it for a week and a half and haven't lost a pound. I'm really glad I'm not required to lose any weight before surgery but one again, I feel like a failure.
  17. Hi everyone. I am from Delaware and just beginning my journey. Have had my first consultation and have started my supervised diet but that's all. Is there anyone in my area that can share their story? I would really appreciate it. Have a blessed day!
  18. I have Aetna and was placed on a three month supervised diet. My question is: do you have to lose a certain amount of weight to satisfy their requirements? I've read on here where people had to lose 10 percent if their body weight. Is this true? If so, I'm not off to a very good start.
  19. I have BCBS of Delaware and am switching to Aetna *** because of their restrictions. But we are now in open enrollment. Is there a possibility you can change insurances?

  21. Congratulations on your sleeve! I'm really excited for you. Please keep us updated on how you're feeling!
  22. So I'm new to this forum and was wondering, are there people on here who have had this surgery over 2-3 years ago? The reason I'm asking is becasue I see a lot of good and some bad stuff on here about the operation. I was just wondering about the long term effects of now having most of your stomach. Can anyone speak to this? Thanks for your input.
  23. I can totally relate. I have never been "happy being fat" and hey Emily, you and I are kind of on the same time line. I should be having my surgery early August too/!
