  1. Congrats on being sleeved and YAY for it being a breeze so far! I hope everything continues to go smoothly for you
  2. My date has changed! I'll be sleeved June 16...this Thursday!!!!
  3. Kelly I'm so hung up on the one month re-entry diet that I can't see past it. I'm so scared that I will have nausea issues and that I won't be able to eat again. Or that I'll have to have a feeding tube for the rest of my life. I need to take a pill and chill out. I'm glad you reminded me of the hunger hormone being reduced...if the hunger is gone I can do this. Thanks to everyone else for your kind words. I pulled up some Youtube vids and that helped tremendously. I'm going to make a list of why I am doing this surgery to help settle my mind. I just pray everything goes ok. I'm ready for an improved quality of life and hopefully this weight loss will add years to my life.
  4. I'm having a bit of a nervous breakdown I think. It hit me when I was in the grocery store stocking up on the stuff I need for clears diet tomorrow. I came home and just started crying. I want this surgery more than anything but I must admit the reality of relearning and developing a new relationship with food is making me so sad. When I tried to decide what I was going to have for my low carb low fat dinner thats what sent me over the edge. I started thinking about all the things I wanted and I just broke down. I think once I cry and say goodbye to these habits I'll be ok. I know I am making the right choice. I'm just trying to deal with what I'm feeling right now. I'm going to make some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup now, its been about 5 hours since my last shake and I'm sure low blood sugar is playing a role in me being so emotional. Oh and sorry if TMI but PMS x 10 isn't helping one little bit.
  5. I'm starting my new job August 2nd. HR called me this morning and wants me to come in for paperwork. Of course she wanted to make the appt. for 9 a.m Thursday SURGERY DAY. I told her I couldn't come that day because I was having a procedure done. She then says "If you don't mind me asking, what kind of surgery are you going to have." I was so taken aback that she asked that, especially with her being in HR. I blurted out "hernia repair". I'm betting during the VSG surgery I'll have a hernia repaired so I guess thats why I said it. I feel bad. I didn't want to tell them I'm having WLS...simply because its none of their business. I should of kept my mouth shut from the beginning, but I didn't know what to tell a new employer about why I couldn't come the day they needed me to for ppw. UGH. So I'm here confessing it to y'all.
  6. Yay for you!!!! Update us when you can!
  7. My date is June 16. I've only got 2 days left. Yikes!!!! This all feels very surreal to me now that the date is almost here. Best wishes to all the June sleevers.
  8. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow! My surgery is June 16. I too worry about having complications. My surgery will be in the U.S. I have a very enlarged fatty liver. I know the liver itself can't feel pain, but in the past the area around the liver would ache. I'm PRAYING this pre-op diet will shrink my liver sufficently. Back in 08 I had gallbladder surgery that took an excessively long amount of time because according to the surgeon "your liver gave me fits". I guess it was too big and he had trouble. I don't want a repeat situation with this surgery. I'm doing the Protein shakes and a very low carb heathly dinner then on Wednesday I'll go to clears only. My starting weight is 257 and I'm 5'5". At the pre-op appt. I asked the surgeon how much he wanted me to loose before surgery. He said "5 or 10 pounds....just don't gain any." I was prepared to have to loose about 20lbs....not sure if this is a good thing to not have to loose that much weight. My fear is I'll get in the OR...and he will have to stop surgery because of my liver. I'm a self pay so I need this to work the first time Do you have any suggestions other than what I'm doing to get this liver ready? I wish you the best tomorrow and PLEASE keep us posted.
  9. Just a quick update.....They called me today to let me know my surgery has been moved up to Thursday June 16....THIS COMING UP WEEK!!! I'm so excited!!
  10. Prayers and good thoughts your way!! You CAN do this!!!!
  11. Thanks y'all. I really think this is for the best. Had I waited to June 28th I would of driven myself insane worrying. I'm starting my new job August 2nd so this gives me more time to recover before I start chasing around Kindergarteners. I'm a teaching assitant. My daughter will turn 8 on June 23rd and she got pretty emotional when I told her I was having surgery sooner. She is worried I won't feel good for her party. I reassured her that most likely I will feel good and even showed her a couple of minitues a youtube vid (Dana VSGandme2011) and she felt better after seeing that.
  12. I just got a call and they are moving my surgery date up to June 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from the 28th. I'm kind of, well, totally freaking out now!!!! That is 6 days away!!!!
  13. My date is June 28th!!!!!!! I'm soo happy!!!! (a teeny bit scared)
  14. Congrats on the date! I got mine today as well!!
  15. Its official! June 28 is my date I'm so happy to be joining y'all!!
  16. I'm scheduled for June 28th with Dr. Redmann in Louisiana. I just got my date today.
  17. I got my date and its June 28th!! I kind of love how it rhymes! LOL It could of been June 23rd but that is my little girls 8 year Bday and I didn't want to miss that. I hope to be recovered by the time I start my new job Aug 2nd.
  18. I'm facing a similar dilema. I have 5 kids ages 17, 14, 13, 7 & 3. My husband will be able to take a few days off work after surgery. I honestly KNOW that the 3 year old and 7 year old will give me trouble. They see a sick mama think its time to take advantage of the situation. My 14 & 13 y/o's are great help, but I think its alot of responsibilty to put on them to watch the 2 little ones. I really could use a nanny LOL. If I were you I'd plan on staying as long as you can. I'm sure there are weight restrictions your doctor will advise you on. Everyone is different. I've met someone that had the surgery and in 2 weeks was back to a physically demanding job. Raising toddlers would qualify Good luck with your surgery
  19. Thank you everyone. I really feel like all of this is surreal. I'm now obsessively researching post op sleevers and how to get through the first couple of weeks. That is my biggest fear. I'm afraid of chronic nausea and low energy level. My plan is drinking lots of fluids right out of the gate to avoid dehydration. Right now I'm facing lots of big life changes and I hope I'm strong enough to handle them all. They are all good, but it is alot of changes in a short period of time. I know if I don't do anything else, this surgery WILL be the best thing for me and my family. And to all you veteran sleevers...be prepared to be bombarded with lots of questions from this newbie! Take care everyone
  20. I'm so excited!!! Today our loan went though for the surgery....AND I got hired at a school district here. What a double blessing!!! I'll have plenty of time to have my surgery and to recover from surgery before school starts Aug 4th! Miracles do happen!!!! I'll go tomorrow and pay the surgeon and get my date. I hope it will be very soon.
  21. I feel the same way. I've researched it for 2 years...I finally have the money to pay for it...and I still don't have my date. Hopefully within the next 3 weeks I'll have it.
  22. Thanks guys! I'll keep this info to myself. No sense in jeapordizing my chances, especially in this economy.
  23. I posted a similar post in pre-op then I got to thinking I should ask you post-opers. I have a job interview Thursday...State Job..great benefits...I really need this job. Do I tell them during the interview I'm having surgery in a couple of weeks? I could probably have surgery as early as the latter part of next week. Should I wait until I get a job offer then tell them I must have a medically necessary surgery? Due to the problems I'm having with diabetes it kind of is. This is a desk job, no heavy lifting, so how much time would I need to be off work? I'm guessing two weeks? Thanks in advance for you advice.
  24. Well another miracle has occured. I got called for a job interview for Thursday. My surgery will be within 2 weeks (approximately). IF I'm offered the job should I say anything about surgery? I hate to start a new job needing time off work right off the bat, BUT I sooooooooooooooooo need this job AND the surgery. I hate to mislead anyone...this is tough!!!! Any advice on how to handle the situation.
