  1. Thanks all for the support and Tiffykins, great idea! I'll surly try something before experimenting at my own wedding!
  2. nurselisa, I"m on the post diet of clears only but lots of suggestions for strained soup..like veggie with the veggies strained out and the broth is so much better, or egg drop soup (again strained). Of course there is popcycles also ( sugar free) I know you can do this..it's so hard but so worth the suffering before!
  3. I got a call back formt he nut at my doc's office. She said that since I had such a hard day in the hospital and with the throwing up, I probably caused a lot more swelling than normal so it might be a few extra days for the more normal feeling i am waiting for. She said try cooler or warmer temp liquids. Thanks for the positive wishes for me
  4. thanks Brookb, I am only on clear liquids fo nnow and keep trying and gave the doc office a call, waiting a call back.
  5. ok so i didn't get my ideal hospitalization of feeling no pain and all is good. First day took the lortab and spent the entire afternoonand evening dry heaving till finally it all came out at 10pm. Felt better at 1am. by morning i had found out he also repaired a small hernia and only meds i get is plain tylenol. My tymmy was pretty sore and tylenol was only helping a smal bit. Every tiny sip causes a lot of pain in my chest ( mind you this is only water) Taking a lot of the gas-ex and it helps at times. I'm walking a bit around the house and hoping that's helping also. Anyone else having this type of pain and any solutions besides keep sipping and using gas-ex and walking...I am able to do that...but hurts to just take sips. Gayle
  6. So tomorrow is my day, I'm so excited and so very nervous (like we all are i guess). We are spending the night in a motel near the hospital tonight so we dont havet to drive several hours throught rush hour in the am. Thanks to this forum, i have a nice list of things packed ( especially gas ex! ). You ahve all been wonderfula nd so supportative and i can't wait to be ont he other side of this and moving much faster towards my goal! Wish me luck! Gayle
  7. Mememeee, I am freezing the meals. If I don't like them, then no big deal..such small amounts. Big Sexxy, oh wow that's amazing! I hope to see you, walking in the halls!
  8. I'm cooking! Like crazy, i'm cooking. Making guloush, chilli, cauliflower and such, to puree for meals after i'm home and allowed pureed foods. am i nuts..well probably! but thinking it was a good idea to make stuff up ahead of time. Made Chilli for me then boiled the pasta part and added it for the family for dinner tonight. Pureed the cauliflower for me, so far it looks ok. Nothing like making up a bunch of hot meals on a 100 degree day. Sad part is, i'm hungry now..moreso than the last few days...got to keep my eye on the prize! Good luck to all us August people in the next few weeks...we can do this!
  9. I'm getting sleeved on tuesday and from what i read and know it's an Adkins type diet we all follow after surgery. High in Protein, low in cards. If you need structure, follow the adtkins exactly for a while..the first phase is very strict and then it gets a bit more lienient as the stages progress. You can still have high quality foods, just limit them to whats on their list of foods. You can eliminate carbs slowly is you can't tolerate going all the way. Carbs are easily processed by the body so your metabolism doens't have to kick up when you eat them. If you eat a little protein every 3-4 hours, your body's metabolism has to kick up to process the protein. Making meals and Snacks with high protein will hellp with weight loss. Good luck with your journey! Gayle
  10. I have decided in my workplace to tell people, they have been supportative to me and for me and never change a thing! We have monthly birthday celebrations which always has goodies but we are sure to add veggies (this is for all of us and gives up better options at the parties) and such since any given day there is people who would rather have or want that instead. I'm glad to have their support and love and know so many are there for me if needed and will undestand why i suddenly choose not to participate in the "food fest" ...mostly I am not hurting my good friends feelings by not trying their fab new dessert, because she understands. I don't want them to change...and so far they have not. I guess i'm happier knowing they know and understand. I know we all dont have that kind of support at work, but i'm happy with my decision.
  11. Oh wow that was hard! I hope you had a nice time even though she didn't underdstand. GOOD FOR YOU for sticking to your guns and not letting in to her pleas. You and i are both sleaved next week and it's going to be a rough few days but we can do it!!
  12. I decided against it after reading a LOT of reviews. Seems the company doens't like backing it's product. I bought a cuisinart at bed bath and beyond (always getting 20% off coupons for it in the mail) and am very happy with it. I ground up dry cooked chicken in it ( yes had to shake it a bit or scrape the sides) but it made the chicken in to powder!. It makes frothy drinks for sure, i love adding ice to it and making it really yummy. I leave mine on the counter also and use it a lot!
  13. Caycaye, Welcome to the forum. There is so much information here that i have been here for months reading and still don't know it all. Good luck to you, your a very strong person already!
  14. that pre-op diet is horrible, tasteless and nausea inducing...but man does it owrk to help you loose weight. Way to go ladies!
  15. I'm August 2nd and so excited. Bought lots of samples of different protien drinks. Got a little weighing scale to be more accurate. Got a cuisinart and already make up a few things and put them in the freezer. OHHH important here, the nut told me we focus so much on low cal, no sugar liquids that we forget that initially we can have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and start to shake and sweat and feel really bad so she recommended one bottle of REGULAR gateraid in the fridge, just in case to sip if you feel low in the blood sugar area.
  16. I will be on solida ( just beginning them Nov 2nd) but was not sure how people do with cake in the beginning? It's a 3 layer with 2 flavors each layer (chocolate and vanilla on the bottom, lemon and strawberry with fresh strawberries in th center of it--in the middle and the single top layer, chocolate with reeses peanutbutter cup--future hubbies favorite!)
  17. make sure you take in a few carbs a day, they are necessary for brain function ...just keep them low.
  18. I'm on a "medifast diet" for 2 weeks. the stuff is horrible tasting but lost 12 pounds in the first week! I seems to think the general idea is to get in high protein and low carbs and low calories. I felt awful after 3-4 days and think it was my body trying to adjust to all of this ...people on adkins have expressed feeling not right after a few days. But i'm glad i did this now and don't have to go through carb withdrawl after surgery. Good luck and you will do great!
  19. ok i have this question...I am getting married in november (11-11-11) YEAH!!! and getting sleved on August 2nd.(YEAH AGAIN!!!) Any chance i'll be able to take the traditional bite of my wedding cake? even a nibble? or is that realistically out of the question?
  20. Has anyone used the compression sleeves for their arms during exercise? Dose this make any difference? I hate my arms now ( pre-op) and know they will not be any better later, surgery aready planned for the future!
  21. I have seem that also and read a lot of reviews and it seems like you have to use it more often than a normal laser treatments in a doc's office. I ended up using a great little "groupon" at a local plastic surgery office and got hair removal for a great price and am very happy with my results.
  22. Julie, our surgery dates are so close (august 2nd) and i'm very proud of you not making a huge pig out for a last meal..your much better then I. I"m on day 4 of my preop and doing great. I know you will do great on your surgery!!
  23. Thank you to you all. I was in such a bad moos yesterday due to several more reasons but the move just set me over the edge. I'm better today and concentrating on my upcomming wedding in November!
