  1. finally got approved and schduled for my band surgery, any last minute tips for before or after surgery??? what should i have already bought for after? any tips about Optifast? anything would be appricated, i feel like now that its almost here im not prepared!!! please and thank yous!
  2. that doesnt make sense, 3 months isnt 45 days...
  3. I was told yesterday by my nutrionist that I wont be able to swallow anything bigger then the size of an "advil" for 6 weeks after surgery... this seems a little extreme?
  4. I have 1 of my final pre-op apointments coming up...Its with pulmonary... My question is, how do they determine if you need a sleep study, Ive looked online and none of the sleep problems I found pertain to me... Im trying to schdule my surgery asap and if I need a sleep study, its only going to delay it further... any ideas?
  5. My doctor requires the pre-op diet of Protein shakes/soups for 4 weeks prior to my surgery... The problem is my insurance will NOT cover the shakes, even if they were perscribes so therefore I have to pay $85 a week ( 4 weeks ) for the shakes... anybody else run into this problem???
  6. my insurance covered the apointment but wont pay for the protein shakes for the pre-op diet... i have to do the diet for 4 weeks and $85 a week for the shakes/soups...
  7. I would say go ahead and do it on 7/14, if you wait 6 more months your cholestrol may get worse and be harder to control in the long run... I already 2 months into my journey for the lap band and I have to wait around 6 months too, if I had the option of self pay I would get the band asap!
  8. im married and my husband constantly feels like if I loose weight that I will not be attracted to him and feel the need to find someone else... He thinks im going to be thin and move on to someone knew or something, its a constant battle, almost like he doesnt want me to have the surgery... I tell him thats not going to happene and I want the band to feel better about myself and be heatlher...
  9.    TanksMama reacted to a post in a topic: Discouraged with the band.
  10. i thought the whole point of the website is to be nice and encouraging...i guess some people need to go back to the first grade and learn how to treat and talk to people how they want to be treated...
  11. thanks for all the advice, ill have to clear up the number of weeks with the doc on 7/5... im hoping because im healthy other then the weight he'll only make me do 2 weeks...
  12. I was told today by my nutrionist that works side by side with the dr that I might have to be on a longer pre-op liquid diet becuase I have a high bmi... Last time he said that my diet would only be 2 weeks, but now shes saying something different... I have to check back with him at my next apointment... anybody do the pre-op diet for longer then 2 weeks, How the hell am I only suppose to drink liquid for 1 month straight... anybody else hear of Optifast?
  13. good luck, my piece of advice is to call you insurance and see what they require for approval of the band...every insurance company is dffierent...
  14. your not alone, i gained about 3 pounds since i first met with my surgeon in april.. i think its the stress of the pre-op, insurance approval and all that stuff thats making me gain weight...
  15. I have medicaid through the state of ct, my insurance requires a pre-auth before they can book my surgery... I have to do pulmonary, cardiology, pysch, and 6 x with a nutrionist, the dr submits all the info and they make their decision within 72 hours... a long and frustraing process, but im sure it will help in the long run
  16. My BMI was arround there too, I think if you BMI is over 40 it makes it a little easier to get approved...thats what my surgeon said
