  1. Count me in: SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal Melissa........298..................268...............243.............25 I'm not that experienced yet....do you think this goal is high enough considering I'm only 1 month out?
  2. mjs6172 replied to LissaD's topic in Purée (stage 2)
I definitely agree on this It makes you feel like you're having lasagna!
  3. Perfect, thanks so much! I have to psych myself up every morning to "do the shot" of the med, lol. I'll call the dr this afternon to double check, but sounds like I should be ok! Whew, thanks again.
  4. I just finished my full liquids this week (week 4), so I totally understand. I ended up searching for new and different soups constantly.....I think I went to 5 different grocery store chains to see what different choices they had. One brand I found that had flavors that were better than the normal tomato and chicken broth was Imagine. They had some like potato garlic and currried lentil. And all of their soups were smooth. So, hang in there, and get lots and lots of different soups!
  5. I couldn't find in the reading an idea of when I could take medication in pill form again? I'm 4 weeks out and one of the medications that I am taking in liquid form tastes AWFUL!
  6. I just had to share the good news from my one-week followup visit! I'm down 18.5 lbs. Now....I realize a lot of that is Water weight from the coumadin stoppage the week before surgery, it had been causing me horrible bloating and water retention. But....it was still such a motivating visit! I was a little down yesterday trying to get all the water in and was struggling with some "head hunger". I needed some good news today to get me back in the right mindset He also took out the drain tube, which I couldn't be happier to be without!!
  7. Seems to be the same for a lot of people, me included. I agree with the bouillion...I use low sodium chicken or beef, just to get in some water that isn't sweet. I'm also a big fan of low sodium V8.
  8. I seem to be progressing the same way. Protein shakes and puddings/soups are going down just fine....I struggle most with the Water. I just keep plugging away!
  9. I also had my surgery June 7th, and came home on June 9th. On Wednesday, I was so tired and sore, couldn't stay awake, I was definitely wondering what I'd done. However, every day since then has been better. I am walking often, getting my Protein shakes in, and drinking v8. I'm working hard on the Water, but am struggling getting past 40 oz. I was never a good water drinker before surgery either though! Overall, I am feeling pretty good. I'm showering every day and getting around pretty well, just a little sore. I've been staying with friends so far, and am going to head home tomorrow. I have my first post-op appointment on Monday, am hoping he'll remove the drain at that time. Good to hear how everyone is doing!
  10. Just as a final update....I had the removable vena cava filter placed last Thursday. It was a relatively easy procedure, and I can say it's given me some peace of mind for my surgery TOMORROW....I can't believe it's here and I'm doing this.
  11. Thanks so much, I'll keep you in my thoughts as well... 0530 for me...surgery at 0730. Good luck!!! Can't wait to touch base after.
  12. Thanks......I can't believe it's tomorrow!!! Ready or not!! AAAAHHHHH!
  13. I'm going in on Tuesday 6/7 also!!!!! Can't wait to see how we're all doing! So nervous/excited.......
  14. Thanks Susan, & Kelly----good reminder.....I think I'm ready for some "forced relaxation" I'll keep you posted!
  15. Thanks Kelly! I'm hoping to do the same.....I have a pretty high tolerance as well, and I've always seemed to bounce back pretty quickly after any illness.....so I'm hoping! Thanks for sharing your experience.
  16. Hi...I'm scheduled for surgery June 7th and am excited, nervous, anxious........ I was set up to stay with some friends for the first 4 days home from the hospital, but that has fallen through. I haven't lived in this area very long, so I don't know that many people. My question is this.....how much help do you think I'll need for the first week? I'm just trying to understand if I can do most of it by myself, and what I need to set up with others. Thanks in advance for any suggestions & insight!!
  17. June 7th for me too!!! I feel exactly the same way......
  18. I'm definitely scared as well. I'm getting close, June 7th is my scheduled surgery. I'm reading everything I can find and getting my grocery list ready....setting up my support network...but I'm still so nervous about the surgery. You're not alone! the posts here are so helpful
  19. Well, I had my CT-A scan last week, got the results yesterday and my December 2010 bilateral pulmonary embolism clots have fully dissolved I am going off of coumadin at the end of May and have been cleared for June 7th sleeve surgery. My surgeon has decided to have a removable vena cava filter placed to reduce the risk of another embolism. It worries me having another procedure, but gives me some comfort at the same time. I'll keep you posted on how things go after the surgery. Wish me luck!
  20. June 7th with Dr. Naim in LA.......getting so nervous!!!
  21. Well, I too am not going to answer your question, but merely add my same concern. I actually had a DVT/Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism in December 2010, and am currently scheduled for VST on June 7th. I'm having a CT scan today, and a meeting with my pulmonologist next Wednesday. He is aware of my surgery and is a supporter, and is very closely involved in making sure I am ready. I will post back next week to let you know what his advice is at my CT followup appointment.
  22. Hi Mana---Wondering how everything is going for you? I too, have PCOS and am scheduled for surgery on June 7th. I'm nervous but excited.
  23. Hi...my first post! I am scheduled for VSG surgery on June 7, 2011 with Dr. Naim in LA/Orange County. I am excited and nervous. It seems like every surgeon is a little bit different, but I actually don't start my pre-op diet until 3 weeks before my surgery. Does this seem unusual? I also had a bi-lateral pulmonary embolism in December, so my surgery is being coordinated with my pulmonologist to make sure all goes well, and I'll have to be extremely diligent after surgery to ensure I do everything I am supposed to in order to avoid another blood clot. I am hopeful that the surgery will help with my diabetes and PCOS. I've done a lot of reading on this forum and other websites....but any personal advice from people who have actual experience would be much appreciated!!
