When I feel full it's in my lower chest, which is right at the top of my old tummy. I have a "3 bite sleeve"...three bites of anything and I'm VERY full! My first bite of food tastes really good! I burp after the second bite, and the third bite, which is always my smallest, is the game stopper! I never tempt fate with a 4th bite. I'm 3 weeks post op, on mushies, & I've never thrown up and I hope I never do. I stop at the merest hint of fullness, because after 38 years of ignoring my body, it's about time I listened to it!

Shemy-away reacted to Lilee84 in The Scale Is Broken! A Story About Stalls...
I wanted to take a moment to share my experience with stalls, because I see a lot of people getting discouraged because of them and that's simply not necessary and really bad for your self esteem.
I was sleeved 1/20 - over the first 4 weeks I lost 40-freaking-pounds! Amazing! I was so excited and thought to myself "At this rate I'll be at goal by Easter!" And then, about half way through my 4th week something sad happened. My scale broke! I mean, it must have been broken because it kept saying 237 every-single-time I stepped on it, so SURELY it must have been broken, right? Wrong. I was stalled. I'd read the posts, I'd done my research, I knew it was possible but like most I thought "HA! Not me!"
For the next 2 1/2 weeks I analyzed every bite I put in my mouth, I doubled up my sessions with my trainer, I increased my Protein and fluids, to no avail! A week after my stall started, the scale still would not budge! Seriously, it's digital, how could it be broken? Maybe I somehow saved my last weigh in and it was just showing me that # every time I stepped on. Maybe? No. Maybe this was it. Maybe 40lbs was all I was meant to lose? No. Maybe I'm just built differently and the sleeve isn't going to work for me? No! It was a stall! A point at which the weight temporarily stops coming off and the scale stops moving. A time for my body to try and play catch up after the havoc wreaked on it for the previous 4 weeks.
Two 1/2 weeks after my stupid stall started, I noticed something - I was getting a LOT of compliments! I mean, sure people had been commenting before my stall but now, now people I NEVER talked to were commenting how good I was looking and what a great job I was doing. Surely they must be mistaken, I haven't lost ANY weight in the last 2 1/2 weeks. They're crazy. To prove it, I took a picture.
As I sat at my computer making my little collage so I could show them just how crazy they were, a gasp escaped my mouth when I added the last picture. Could it be? Surely it wasn't possible! I am the EXACT same weight that I was in picture #2, a fact that I was painfully aware of, but something was different. I actually LOOK thinner! Amazing! And to think I spent the previous 2 1/2 weeks silently stressing because the scale wasn't budging! The whole time while my weight wasn't shrinking, my waist was!
So to all of you out there stressing over stalls my message is this - Just because your weight isn't shrinking, doesn't mean your waist isn't. Just keep doing what you're doing and you will be successful - don't sabotage your success just because your scale is temporarily broken

I'm not at the point where I can eat things like this yet, but Like the previous posters said, I think the sugar is not an issue due to the small amount that you are eating. Unless you are having hyperglycemic symptoms right after eating, I don't know if you should worry about it.

Kidding aside 1. You are going to be down more than 2 sizes by then. 2. Check out Youtube OOTD videos. I love watching people put clothes and colors together. 3. Magazines, Marie Claire, Vogue, Glamour, Essence (sometimes), O Magazine, InStyle.
I love that kind of thing. Know your body shape. and you can look up sites that recommend cuts for that body type. Undergarments are king and the proper fit goes a long way. Accessories! Dresses, Shoes! Locally I also check out Burlington Coat Factory-they have a lot of dresses this time of year.

I am wondering what restriction feels like for everyone else. I never feel anything like what I formally associated with "full".....never. I usually quit eating something because I measured it out & it's gone. The only other indication I have is I start burping (eww). Should I feel full or close to full? It feels somewhat unsatisfying to never feel like I've eaten a meal. Anyway, just curious if I'm doing this right? P.S. I appreciate all of you who answer my endless litany of questions, for your time, thoughts, insight, patience & kindness I sincerely thank you!!

I can't wait for all of you who's dates are coming up to join me on the loser's bench!! I've been waking up lately full of something, I didn't know what it was. Then it hit me. I'm happy. For the first time in a long time my happiness is radiating from the inside out instead of me trying to force it from the outside in. This is such a great feeling! I hope each one of you feels the same way

Ok that's understandable.I hope you find the best way for you to get through. I read in the board that it doesn't take long for the liver to shrink, a week give or take. I also want to add this: the closer to all liquid you can stay the better. I'm realizing now that it really preps you for after surgery when you really CANNOT eat anything other than liquids

Hello all! I am so happy all went well! Feel pretty loopy right now from the morphine PCA and my mouth (despite frequent use of a mouth sponge) is drier than the Sahara desert...but other than that feel great. I can feel that my stomach was manipulated, but it's not that bad. Maybe I'll feel different after they get me up to walk but all the reading I've done on this site says walk, walk, walk! I honestly don't know how I would have handled this without all te advice I've been reading on this site. So for that THANK YOU for everybody that has posted about their experience!

I know exactly how you feel. I'm having some emotional difficulties as well when it comes to food. Don't worry about venting or seeming like a baby, you just went through a lot of stress and its normal to feel like you've lost something. It's a time of bereavement for us. Take it a day at a time and visualize why you had the surgery. That helps me hope you feel better soon.

Possibly. This topic interested me so I've been doing a little online searching. It appears that NSAIDS are a problem for bypass patients in that the exacerbate the issue of marginal ulcers where the pouch connects to the intestines. NSAIDs can also cause erosion in band patients. A sleeve patient has no rerouting or band to cause concern for either the marginal ulcers or erosion.
Simply googling "NSAIDs and sleeve Gastrectomy" pulled up a wealth of topics and sites all stating sleeve patients can take NSAIDs once healed. There are also some old threads from this forum that popped up with Tiffykins giving her usual, thorough thoughts.
Everyone should do what they feel is best for his/her body, but I believe the evidence suggests that NSAIDs are not any more detrimental to a sleeve patient than a person with a fully formed stomach.

Hi there! I just started week 3 on Sunday (blended food) and I can eat a lot less than I can Jello or Protein shakes!!! I was surprised also when I noticed that I could drink more than a couple of sips, but now that I'm on the creams it's a lot less!!! You just know your full and stop because you have to. As far as wanting other people's food, I'm right there with you!!! I want it in my mouth even thought I don't really feel hungry. Everything smells great, but eventually we'll be able to eat everything even if its just one bite!!!

The first clothes I bought were jeans from a resale shop...I just bought a size 14 jeans from JC Penney. I haven't been in a 14 for 30+ years! Still can't believe it! Good luck & if you do everything right, the weight will just fall off!

I like vintage-y stuff - whether real vintage or vintage-inspired clothing. Check out ModCloth.com! Also, I do a lot of shopping at H&M. It only goes up to size 14, though.

    Hey sleevers!
I was sleeved 3/6 but I'm such an optimistic person that I'm starting to plan out my outfit for my sisters graduation in 3 months! I figure I've dropped at least 2 dress sizes by then, so that is what I'm working with.
I'm not sure what my sense of style is anymore, except I am almost 30 with a young daughter, so I'd like to look classy, laidback, and glamourous looks that are tasteful yet sexy and age appropriate
Now the problem is, years of being confined to a few stores and certain styles of clothing had turned me off from following anything fashion related. I hope that some of you can point me in the right direction as to what websites, magazine, stores etc I should start with when reestablishing my closet.
Hope you guys can help! I'm so ready to start window shopping!

Your best ally in this journey is first going to be patience. Next is positivity. Lastly you must have perseverance. Without these three things, this is not going to be a fun ride. Enjoy your progresses, don't focus so much on the things that aren't showing, rather focus on the things that are. The scale is just a little piece of the puzzle. But what else is working in your favor? How are your clothes fitting? What about your photos, are there differences? Are there people asking/commenting about your weight loss? How do you feel personally? Better? Lighter? So what the scale is being stubborn right now. That does NOT make you a failure. You just have to keep it moving.
