Shemy-away got a reaction from Catherine D in Hunger After Gallbladder Removal
It may be gas and I've tried gas x strips to no avail. I thought about increasing my nexium to twice a day to see if it helps. Thanks for the input!

    Hey everyone!!
Im new to the site and new to the journey. I've started the process and am now waiting for my meeting with the surgeon. I'm not really sure where I am in the process, it seems the military has different requirements for approval. I friend requested almost everyone in this forum and if I missed you please friend request me
This site has been very helpful and informative, but connecting with other African-Americans that are being sleeeved is priceless!

I think someone mentioned it, but it may be lactose intolerance. I developed it around 2 weeks post op. It was a royal pain because I had 3 different kinds of Protein and I've spent so much money trying to find something that doesn't make my stomach turn!! This post IS right on time!!

As someone who went through all of this stuff, I can assure you that now 90+lbs lighter every little thing I went through with surgery, has been worth it to see myself like this.

This made me laugh, because it reminded me of this: http://epistle.us/inspiration/godwillsaveme.html
    God Will Save Me
A terrible storm came into a town and local officials sent out an emergency warning that the riverbanks would soon overflow and flood the nearby homes. They ordered everyone in the town to evacuate immediately.
A faithful Christian man heard the warning and decided to stay, saying to himself, “I will trust God and if I am in danger, then God will send a divine miracle to save me.”
The neighbors came by his house and said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car, please come with us!” But the man declined. “I have faith that God will save me.”
As the man stood on his porch watching the Water rise up the steps, a man in a canoe paddled by and called to him, “Hurry and come into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.”
The floodwaters rose higher pouring Water into his living room and the man had to retreat to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Use your time to save someone else! I have faith that God will save me!”
The flood waters rose higher and higher and the man had to climb up to his rooftop.
A helicopter spotted him and dropped a rope ladder. A rescue officer came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand and I will pull you up!" But the man STILL refused, folding his arms tightly to his body. “No thank you! God will save me!”
Shortly after, the house broke up and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned.
When in Heaven, the man stood before God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?”
And God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more were you looking for?”

I echo Diva and a several of you guys.. That's the beauty of life.. My choice should not diminish anyone else's... People feel all sorts of ways about WLS, birth control, etc.... their personal choice and it doesn't influence my actions either way...
Think how many people have been saved by radical medical means and the how many people have died when they could have been saved by a simple injection... Same with the sleeve... some chose a different way, I chose my Sleevina and I love her.. she helped ME save my life!!!!

With the stigma attached to WLS, the public might have a negative reaction to either Oprah or Kirstie Alley having WLS. They live and die by their reputations, so it's probably not a recommended option.

THAT'S WHAT I HAVE BEEN SAYING LOL!!! I don't get it...but I will say I have told many obese people about sleevie and they snob their noses at it. I've heard NO WAY 85% of my stomach is too crazy, or I will ask God to help me take it off the RIGHT way, etc. etc. etc. So to each his own I guess...All I can say is I THANK GOD for my sleevie

I would think its a publicity thing also. The surgery is not for everyone. I do not have the money to hire a nutritionist, chef or personal trainer to keep me in line lol. I need something with me every second of everyday to help me with make the right choices and help control my intake. I know in my heart I made the right choice for me and when I get the surgery it will be a great journey.
I cannot wait!!! YAY!! May 7th!

That's fairly common. I don't want to downplay your frustration, but 3 days is not a long time. There are a LOT of luids introduced into your body during surgery, a lot of swelling, etc. There are a lot of physiological reactions to bod trauma, and to organ trauma, and you've had quite a bit of both. Unfortunately most of our body reactions involve Fluid (actually I think it's safe to say that they ALL do) - and a lot of it. Bear with it, and keep in try to focus on "it has ONLY been 3 days" instead of "it's been 3 days already!"
A lot of people weigh more when they get home from surgery. A lot of people actually gain weight shortly after, as they're able to drink & their bodies begin to hoard fluids.
It's like your investment portfolio. You really can't look at it on a day-to-day basis and expect it to make any sense at all. You just have to trust that it's right, and see where you are after some time has elapsed.

You have to give your body time to catch up with your mind. You're thinking the weight should be falling off and your body is in panic mode as NancyJerry said. You just had major surgery on top of a sudden drop in calories. Your body is built for survival and is now in survival mode. Just keep doing what your surgeon and team tell you, follow your diet, drink your Water, walk, and just live. I promise you will start to see results.

The majority of people on this board have the stall around 2/3/4 weeks. Everyone is different but that stall seems to happen to everyone.
Suggestion---> hide the scale. Weigh once a week, preferably in the morning right after you pee, then hide it again.

Weeks 2 and 3 are FAMOUS for stalls. Your body is in complete and utter shock. 12 pounds in 3 weeks is about 4 pounds per week. Your body is thinking - WHOA! What the heck is going on here???? I'm holding on to my storage just in case we don't eat again for a while!!!
Seriously. Give it some time. Make sure you are getting your Protein and Water in you, and you will lose weight. You've had 85% of your stomach cut out of your body. You WILL lose weight. P.S....food for thought....when was the last time you followed a diet that allowed you to lose either 10 pounds in 1 week or 4 pounds per week on average???
Don't worry. Almost everyone goes through this and you are not alone!

Shemy-away reacted to Sassygirl06 in Low Bp And Pulse - Virtually Dead?
first, about the blood pressure...there is a thing called orthostatic hypotension, big name for when you stand up from sitting or laying down your blood pressure drops....this is what is causing the dizzyness.....it is common to have this symptom after major weight loss....what to do for it is to get up really slowly from a sitting position....and from a lying position it is good to dangle your feet from your bed for a few seconds and then rise up slowly.
as for your heart rate... it changes all day long, with exercise and with breathing. you already had a low pulse and bp before surgery so this is not abnormal for you. obviously if the doc or nurses in the hospital were worried about your low pulse then they would have said something then and issued you a medication for it.
make sure you are getting in plenty of fluids and electrolytes, as this can lower and increase your bp and pulse. if ever you feel like your heart rate is to low (which I doubt will happen) get up (slowly) and move around a bit. And as always if this continues to be a concern of yours...dont hesitate to go to your doc and talk it over with him or her
    good luck to you!
