How quickly were you up and about?
Hard tonsay, everyone is so different. For me it's been over a week, and I plan on asking for more time. I still do notn feel up to par enough to go back to my high stress, moderately active job.

What do you use protein shakes for?
My dr said I would pretty much have to have a protien shake a day for the rest of my life. On the other hand he also preaches the no liquid calories bit too.

Anyone else obsessed with the scale after surgery?
Since my surgery 9 days ago I've weighed myself daily, written it down, and even charted it in an app. I don't feel obsessed at all. I mean two minutes on the scale and thinking about my weight, rather than all the hours I used to spend eating a day. I'm sure it'll pass that I weigh in daily, but I'm bored!!! LOL! So I'm reading that the scale might stall when I go on solids, that's kind of worrisome, since I only lost 4 pounds since surgery. I lost 13 if you count the 9 I gained in the hospital. (gained 9 from my initial weigh in to my release weigh in) I will probably switch it to weighty weekly soon, it's not fun stepping on the scale daily unless it's moving

Right after surgery
I am one week out and I am feeling good. No pain meds anymore, I am moving around, but if do too much like shopping or something I'll get weak. I see the doc Thurs, and I'm actually hoping for at least another full week off.

Neck pain
I had the same thing, luckily it was one day only. Hope your over it soon! I t just felt like maybe I slept on my neck wrong, waaayyy wrong!

I gained 9 pounds!
Just before I had surgery I weighed in at 260, I had my surgery on Tuesday, on wednesday I weighed 269 before I left the hospital. Now that I have been home for 2 days I lost most of that, I'm down to 262,but I still am not down to my pre weight. I am wondering if anyone else gained a considerable amount in the hospital. I don't understand how I could gain such a considerable amount on liquids only??

Two Days post op
Emster, I was wondering how you are doing. When I got released from the hospital from barb, she said, now we are off to see you twin. I said, "what?" and she said, oh you have a surgery twin here, same day as you right after you and she's being released to, so I figured it was you. I have been sleeping ALOT, and totally not getting in enough liquids, but I am not in much pain at all, and have been able to operate everything I've tried. I am not sure that's a good thing. My first appt is on the 19 and then I should graduate to mystics.

approval
I applied in October, and am just now approved. I followed their instructions to a t, and my drs office had to call them deal times, and they finally gave approval Thursday afternoon for my Tuesday surgery. I was sooo stressed out.Good Luck!

Liquid diet post op, i am scared and frustrated
How scary. No advice, since i am not even banded. But I am sorry to hear your suffering so bad. What about freezing a protein shake or carnation instant breakfast so you can feel like its something to eat mentally.

Questions for anyone at any stage out
Thank you so much for all your help and support. I will definitely measure. I already lost 20 and regret getting no real before pics or measurements earlier than now. Found out another new thing from exploring this board. I thought i would have only 2 scars, I don't know why. Now I see that it will be five. 11 days now. I guess my biggest fear is that I will literally miss food. everything seems to revolve around food, from every holiday, to me going out to lunch with my husband every Thursday, company picnics, carnivals, dinner out with friends, and popcorn at the show. I know the old saying nothing tastes as great as being thin feels, and I believe it, but still I am afraid.

Has anyone actually NOT cheated on 2 week pre-op diet?
I don't have a 2 week pre op diet. I possibly will have a one week diet, because my next, and last appt. Is one week before my surgery.

I still find it surreal...
That's reassuring to hear that you feel so great. 14 days til my surgery, hope it goes as well.

Questions for anyone at any stage out
Getting nervous about my upcoming surgery. Anybody feel like answering a few questions to help me get through some jitters I'm having? 2weeks from today! I've learned tons from this board already. Like for example even after 6 months of going to my Dr. I didn't even know your band doesn't get filled until a month or more after the surgery. 1. Any regrets? 2. Is there anything you did not expect after surgery? Any surprises? 3. How long before you returned to work? 4. How long before you felt normal again?

Is an EKG and a Chest CT normal pre-op testing before surgery?
I had both plus... Original blood work and 24 hour urine...blood work showed I was positive for h.pylori, so I need 4 weeks on 3 antibiotics and then later an Upper GI to make sure the h. Pylori was gone and they found an ulcer for that so I'm on meds for that...Sigh! and then more blood work with the X-ray and ekg

Any May 2011 Banders?
I'm scheduled for may 10th! I'm defiantly excited/nervous. I had to wait the 6 months for my insurance to approve (high mark BCBS) It seemed like forever and like many have already said if I could follow such a strict die for 6 months, then I probably wouldn't be in this predicament and wouldn't need the surgery, now would I? I ended up losing 20 pounds on the low carb diet with excercise. I am totally "falling off the wagon" this past month or so and am just hoping I don't gain so much they cancel on me. I had my pre ops on Thursday (blood work, EKG and chest X-ray) at the hospital. I have my pre op doctors clearance appt. Next week, and my last weigh in on the 3rd. So far I don't have any special instructions about not eating solids for a week or anything. Just not to eat before midnight the day before. I wonder when I will find out more about the diet after? I do know that I will stay overnight and be released the following afternoon. I am one of the first surgeries, I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 for a 7:30 surgery. I am looking forward to going through this together along with you other May 2011ers!!!!!
