I am July 8th!!

My pre-op diet plan wasn't super strick so tomorrow I will be starting liquids and protein shakes to make sure my liver is shrunk! Good Luck!!

I hear ya girl! I have the same problem at baseball games and movie theatres. If I can't move that arm rest I am miserable. I am confident you are gonna have room to spare by then though!!

Today is gonna be easy peasy! Ok so I am so sorry for all of you out there who have to do several weeks of liquids prior to surgery! My nut wants me doing high protein, low cal, low carb, no fat... I need at least 10 ounces of meat per day and up to 4 veg, 1 fruit, 3 starch, 0 fat. Yesterday I cooked all my chicken for the next 10 days. I cut bnls sknls chicken breast into 2 ounce strips (approx) Cooked them in the oven with some cooking spray. Next I put 5 strips in each ziplock bag. 7 in the freezer and 3 in the fridge. Went to the store last night and got Sargento low mozzarella string cheese. I also have V8 splash for my 1 serv of fruit and 1 of my veg servings. Vitamin Water Zero is my new fav drink since I quit Pepsi Max. I am also taking a women's multi-vitamin every morning. I will switch to a diff vitamin source the last couple days before surgery so that I will be used to it. I don't have a date yet but have submitted to fep blue for approval. After approval I want to be scheduled asap so I decided to go ahead and start the pre-op diet since it's not taking away any of my protein shakes I have stocked up for after surgery. I LOVE chicken and cheese so I think this is gonna be quite easy for me. I am not going to be eating much else. Going to a cook out Sunday but I will be taking my chicken, cheese stick, and vitamin water and avoiding the chips and soda!! I am super excited about the prospect of surgery in my near future!!! I am praying for an approval and a speedy one!! My children, friends, and most family know about my decision. My husband is SO supportive!! Alot more than I thought he would be. But he sees all the work I am putting into getting prepared mentally and physically. I have lost 30 pounds this year and I should include that in my ticker... Thinking I may change it. My mom was very skeptical at first but I sent her to vertical sleeve talk on FB and she started reading there and now she is so excited for me!! I am going to be BLOWING UP fed bcbs phone lines checking my status LOL I love reading this board!!!! I feel like I know so many of you and I have met a couple. You all are fantastic!!!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!! Submitted to FEP BLUE today!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Starting on Pre-op diet today so I can have surgery soon!!!!!!!!! PRAYING for a speedy approval!!!

Meg - have you already done your sleep study? I just switched from Dr Schmitt to Dr Touliatos at Trinity. He doesnt require a sleep study and he is preferred by my insurance. My first consult with him was yesterday and my appt with the nutritionist is today. Thats the last thing I have to do before submitting for insurance approval. The coordinator said I am going to have surgery before I would have even had a sleep study with Dr Schmitt. They also do not require $200 for the first visit. It was just my insurance co-pay. Also the pre-op class is FREE not 60 bucks like w Dr Schmitt....

Hopefully we will be submitting for my approval today!!! I have FEP Blue.... Hoping to get a QUICK approval!!

StacyS if you are starting your diet this month you can be done with it the 1st day of the 3rd month. I started in April and my surgeons office says I am done now. I don't have to wait till july

Congrats!! Hope you have a safe and easy trip home. I hope my recovery is as easy as yours

MONICA!!! Thank you so much!! You have just about confirmed my decision for me!!! I have a friend who works for Dr. T. She is a nurse there. She tried to get me to go to him b4 I ever went to Dr. Schmitt. I AM LISTENING NOW!! I am out 200 bucks but at least I wont have to wait on that dang sleep study. I am calling tomorrow to get an appoint w him asap. I would love to talk to you on the phone!!

I am in Locust Fork above Bham in Blount County

If I have the sleep study and am required to sleep with the cpap it will probably kill my chances of having surgery with this surgeon anyway. My insurance only covers 70% of the cpap machine and I will not be able to afford the other 30%. Which will ensure NO SURGERY for me!! So the time frame thing is not my only reason.

Hey! I am from Alabama!! I am still pre-op. I have been planing on having surgery with Dr. Schmitt but now I am thinking of changin surgeons.

I have been seeing preparing to have surgery and have completed all my insurance requirements.... I want to have surgery as soon as possible! My surgeon is requiring me to have a sleep study done and then IF (you know they will) they say I have sleep apnea they are going to make me sleep with the cpap for 14 nights straight before being cleared for surgery.... WELL there is another center of excellence bariatric surgery place here that DOES NOT require a sleep study that my friend works at and I could possibly have surgery with him within 2 weeks.... I am seriously thinking about switching surgeons... What would you do??
