Despondent over apparent gain, please help
I think i'm a slow loser but to be quite honest i'm fine with, iim still on 800-900 cal, getting enough proteins, getting in veg and some fruit, and some days too much carbs (need to work at that) Bowels since surgery a mess, very lazy, i'm still waiting for that lovely diarrhea that people talk about, never happened in 7 weeks though!

Coops fatsecret.com is really easy to use and gives you a good general idea of what you're eating. I don't obsess about it though, I just want to get roughly about 900 cal in a day and round 50 gr proteins. It may sound weird but I don't mind not losing that quickley because of the hair loss, saggy skin and all that, I'm fine losing at a slower pace but keeping it off for good this time! I lost large amounts of weight very quickley in the past only to put it all back on and then some (a stone or 2 more!) For those of you who aren't familiar with "stone" it's a measurement used for bodyweight in the UK 2 stone is about 28 pounds`

mind over matter?
Coops, I do the same about my weight, make jokes and make people laugh about my weight. I think I'm gonna be a slow loser as well, haven't lost much in the last couple of weeks, but am intending to take it as it comes, try my best, I started exercising, and I too am feeling just relaxed about everything. It's best not to compare ourselves with others, we all lose at our own pace, let see what our fellow sleevers have to say, and the ones who have been sleeved for a while.

to tell or not to tell ????? yes or no
I only told my family and a few very close friends. I still avoid going out with people who don't know for meals and stuff, but I know that now I can eat bits I'm going to start going out a bit more again, and as Peatie said just telling people I'm on a supervised diet. If you don't feel comfortable don't tell.

Don't like to cook- can I make this work?
I used to love to cook, but not everyday, just when I "felt" like it! I have to though cause I have a husband who works from 7 to 7 (I'm not working at the moment) and 3 girls (12y,10y, 10 months) Now I don't like cooking, I hope it comes back, I rely a lot on easy meals, roast deli chicken and salads(for the family, I can't eat salads yet). I find chicken great for myself, I eat a few ozs of white meat for lunch and dinner, or even as a snack, fills me up few calories and proteins.I think everyone is losing weight in this house with me being sleeved!

Anyone have a REE done (Resting Energy Expenditure)??
Wow, i didn't even know you could be tested for that! I guess exercising might increase your metabolism? Did you get your bloods for thyroid function? cause if you have a lazy thyroid and you don't treat in (hormones or whatever) your weightloss will be much slower.

I'm hungry!
The best way to describe it was an empty stomach feeling, I guess I hadn't felt that way in a long time, because I used to be a yo-yo dieter but hadn't even dieted properly for years, so hadn't felt "hungry" for a while, was used to just putting something in my mouth at the first signs of hunger! What do you feel? I'm sure it'll get better you know, i used to have a HUGE appetite.

What's the deal with caffeine?
Light coffee or caramel frapuccino from starbucks is what i meant (love the cold sensation in my smaller tummy!)

What's the deal with caffeine?
I've never been told to stop the caffeine. It took a while for me to feel like having a cup of coffee again (and I am a Starbucks girl and HUGE coffee consumer as well), but I have a light coffee or caramel cappuccino once in a while, and now and again I enjoy a skinny capppuccino, still losing inches and no issues w my sleeve whatsoever!

I'm hungry!
I went through the same for a week or 2 at 4-5 weeks. 7 1/2 weeks out I hardly feel hungry any more, and when I do I find that with a few ozs of chicken I'm full! Don't know if it was because I kept reading here that people weren't hungry or is that that it takes time for lack of ghrelin to settle in your body and brain? Anyway hope it happens to you soon, I was stressing a lot over it, in the end tried to convince myself it was head hunger, who knows, our bodies work in mysterious ways! Good luck to you!

July Surgeries
I'm stuck too coops but haven't even weighed myself yet. I have gones done about a size and a half, before surgery I was an 18-20, now I'm squeezing into 16's, but it is very slow for me as well. As Elisa just said think of the weight you've put on, I know I would in the 6 week holiday! I'm a bit scared of going to see the consultant next week cause there I'm gonna see what I really lost in 8 weeks. But I've already mentalized myself, if I haven't los as much as I expect (about 2 stone according to boots scales) I'm gonna try to not get that worked up about it. Usually in these cases I would get depressed and turn to food, but this time I won't be able to so that has to be a good thing! Are you counting calories on myfatsecret.com I am so if you are you can add me as a buddy

My closet in empty
I'm slowly getting rid of my big clothes, donate them to charity, I never did this before, always kept my BIG clothes even when I lost weight cause in a way I knew that I would have to use them again. I'm still having issues with giving away all my big stuff though, a mixture of being scared and not knowing how my weight loss journey is gonna end. I should though just give EVERYTHING away shouldn't I? It's a weird sensation though, trying to convince myself that I'll NEVER be that size again (20UK) did any of you go through this uncertainty??

I smell funny.
If your having a high protein low carb diet you may be in ketosis, which can make your pee and breath smell,it might be just that.

vacillation
I agree w Stacy and Tiffy, I remember telling my mum the first few days, who ever dares to say to me it's the easy way out (not that I told many people) are so wrong! It's hard work, both emotionally and physically. I think only now, 7 weeks out I'm starting to get used to the not snacking and eating tiny portions, and now, (I don't know if it's because I read that so many of you aren't hungry or my body is only now responding to the lack of ghrelin) I'm not even hungry anymore. But as Tiff said if you think this is a quick easy fix you will be disappointed!

My own "What have I done?" moment has come.. please help
This post just reminds me when I was a week out I was mourning food so badly that I put on my FB "Missing my best friend" I was very upset for a couple of weekends, thought I would never get used to it, now I'm loving it! As I said yesterday I think we all went through something similar!

Eating and drinking with sleeve
I too drink a couple of tiny sips of water while I eat, or else I feel like my food is stuck in my esphagus, especially when I eat more solid food like chicken ,and I Never feel hungry after, I actually think I found the trick at last to get my proteins in, not many carbs or calories, as I get full with a few bites of nice, moist, rotiserie chicken (white meat without the skin)!! I'm happy!!

If your surgeon told you to do 600 cal then 600 cal it is! You're doing really well, I agree with the others about water retention/bowel movements, I'm sure you'll be fine!

My own "What have I done?" moment has come.. please help
I'm nearly 7 weeks out and I went through the same, the guilt, how could I not do this on my own, what did I do to myself, what if something happens to me , I have 3 children, one of them is a baby! Thats normal, you'll be fine, I promise, and you'll be over the moon like all of us, I still can't believe I'm on the other side now. In the last few days I've seen people who I hadn't seen in a long time and been told that I look like another person already and I've only lost 20 and a bit pounds. Big hugs and you'll be soooooooo glad you've made this desicion, I wish I could have made it when I was your age, so count yourself lucky!

Despondent over apparent gain, please help
Hi Globetrotter, I was looking at your food journal at myfatsecret, mine is embarrasing compared to yours, I'm eating way too many carbs! What I did see is that your only having and average of 600 cal/day which seems like a bit too little maybe? I had my sleeve done end of july, and now I'm consuming on average 900 cal/day. I haven't weighed myself in a while though, waiting for my docotors appointment next thursday, I think I've lost about 23 pounds by now, I could be wrong, but my clothes are way toobig, so I know i'm loosing inches at least. I think tghat your body might be going into starvation mode and holding onto every single calorie not knowing when and if it's going to get more food. I would try upping your calories a bit more and maybe upping your GOOD carbs a bit more as well maybe. Best of luck!
