  1. I had a cold a few weeks ago and took what I usually take, one of that have different pills for night and diff for day. Not much to do with flu though, just rest, fluids, and try not to give in to cravings, hope you get better soon!
  2. Thanks Coops, I'll try to post a photo soon. I never ever thought my daughter would even suggest this she is WAY to cool, you wait and see, it might happen to you, what a coincidence we both have 12 yr old girls! BTW, I haven't started Zumba yet, but on friday I started a step class, I couldn't believe I plucked up the courage to do it, I was rubbish at it but it#'s a great workout and I know I'll get the hang of it soon. My legs are killing me though!
  3. I love it, at last I can wear my wedding ring again! And yep the constipation is terrible, I have to take something every day for that, wouldn't change anything either!
  4. yep they should, did you not assk your doctor if you can add benefiber or something to your liquids? Only because I had that problem and waited to long thinking oh I'm mostly onliquids it's be fine. I had a very horrible experience with my bowels aand I wouldn't want to go into detail again(too disgusting) but there's a thread somewhere about it, i think it's I need my fiber or bowel movements or something, so I would advise you to look for help ASAP, good luck!
  5. Hi Lilla, I know there are a lot of people here who have had revisions from band to sleeve, and most of them seem to have no regrets and are very happy with their sleeves. I f you check band to sleeve revisions you will find various threads and success stories, most of them anyway. One of them is Tiffykins, look her up and you'll find all her posts she's a real inspiration. I personally haven't been banded before, but had a gastric balloon in a few years ago lost a bit of weight but it all came back on and then some more! I have been sleeved for 2 months now and couldn't be happier, one of the best desicions I've made in my life! When I first saw the surgeon I weighed 102 kg, went down to 96 with the preop diet and now I'm down to 82 kilos. In the 2 months after surgery I lost 17 kilos (because I count the 2 kilos I put on after surgery) and I am one of the slower losers. I would highley recomend you to research this surgery for me and most of us on this forum it's like a dream come true, good luck, and any questios just fire away, people here are very kind, caring and supportive.
  6. Hi Julia just looked at your "video" on youtube, you are very pretty! So how are things going now, I'm 2 months out and still having the ocassional missing my food moments, but it's getting better and better and I love seeing the results! MAy I ask at what hospital did you have your surgery? How did you find the experience, staff etc. Are you taking vitamins after the surgery and which vitamins did they recommend, just because my father's coming from PY to visit in a few weeks and i think the vitamins might be cheaper over there so I wanted to ask him to bring some over. Well, hope all is going well and keep us posted!(so exciting to find someone who lives in PY on this forum!!)
  7. I completely understand all of you, it happened to me too. Even though I wasn't hungry, I still wanted the comfort of my best friend, food! Even untill recently weekends especially were really hard for me, when as a family we all watch tv together and have nibbles and my husband and I enjoy a glass of wine or two! I felt quite depressed but now I'm getting used to it. The little victories, my clothes getting too big, having more energy, my knee stopped hurting and the best thing of all, today my 12 yr old daughter and I bought the same outfit, just a sweatshirt and jogging bottoms, she's using hers for a trip to the lakes on monday and I'm using mine for the gym! I thought that she would be embarrased but she actually insisted that we bought the exact same outfit, colour, brand everthing, identical! I haven't felt this good in a long long time!!
  8. I'm addicted to this forum now!! I can't update my ticker help!!!!
  9. Hi Julia are you an American living in Asuncion? I sent you a PM the other day, good luck!
  10. Awwwwww bless you, good to hear that you are having a better day!
  11. Welcome Pennick, I think some surgeons use drains and others don't, my didn't, I don't know why and I didn't ask either! Good luck in your journey!
  12. Apparently when wounds in general are healing they itch, mine did itch like mad,i guess that only means they're healing properly!
  13. I still have bad days once in a while even though I've been on "normal" food for a while, as peatie says I know that I used to get a "high" when I eat and that doesn't happen anymore. When I feel bad I either a)come on this forum go and do some exercise or c) go and try some clothes on that didn't used to fit me and then I realise that the positives outweigh the negatives! Good luck and hope you feel better soon! (before surgery even though I felt good eating I had really bad days feeling fat and guilty because of my overeating!)
  14. Thanks for the info, my multi has 20 micrgrams of B12, but as I read that there's no harm if you take excess as your body just gets rid of it I'll pick some up from Costco just to be on the safe side!
  15. I was wondering about the B12 as well, my multi has B12 I think it was 2,5 micrograms, I can't find B12 on it's own, I'm wondering if i should buy it over the internet. I read a study though saying that there is no clinical evidencce that it is absorbed better sublingual, i don't know if it's different for us sleevers though. Today I will continue w my research and let you know what i find/
  16. Oh, and I eat mashed potatoes, about 2 tablespoons most days with my meat/fish!
  17. My 3 week stall lasted ages, in the end I just gave up on weighing myself, my husband said the same, just continue to do what you're doing and wait a month at least to get weighed. I did and my overall results are good, and my surgeon was very happy w my weight loss. I'm a bit more than halfway to goal after 2 months, I have about 38 more pounds to lose. I too have a higher carb intake than most here, I track my intake on myfatsecret.com. My calories are between 800-1000 a day, carbs sometimes around 100. I am trying to reduce maybe to about 50 because I don't want to stall for such a long time again, but i still my need my carbs to function, look after 3 children(10 month old baby included) and go to the gym for a 1 hour cardio workout 4 times a week. I would try to reduce my carbs to about half if I were you, I'm working on that as well! As long as you continue with low calorie and exercise I think you'll start losing again regardless. I do eat the odd cookie, piece of toast, but mostly my carbs come from skimmed milk (which a drink a lot) I eat oatmeal some mornings, some fruit, and basically that. Good luck to you!
  18. I've failed to keep my carbs low, I try to eat good carbs though. I need carbs because I'm on the go all day, 3 children (12yrs-10yrs and 10 months) and I go to the gym 4 times a week, without carbs to give me energy I wouldn't function. I'm happy with my weightloss though, I'm more than halfway to target after 2 monts (ticker not updated). I did stall for a few weeks at weeks 3-4 and I expect to stall again.
  19. I'm 2 months out now and have been through the same. I'm starting to enjoy food a bit more now, even if just in tiny portions. At first weekends were especially hard and sad, as a family we used to cook together and then enjoy our homemade pizzas! Now its gradually changing, I even went out w friends and had a couple of drinks and it felt fab! My taste is a bit better, i enjoy food a bit more, I've been told it gets better with time. Make the most of it now to lose all the weight you can (within what your surgeon requires vcalorie and protein wise of course!)
  20. That is so funny, aren't kids the best! The other day I bumped into a friend I haven't seen in ages, she sai I've never seen you so skinny! My 12 year old was there, when we got into the car, she said "I wanted to tell your frien, of course she's skinny, she just got half of her stomach chopped off" I corrected her and said not half, about 85% actually!
  21. I frogot now the details of this study but it does makes sense, to me at least. If you have consume a very low carb diet for a very long period of time, you wil automatically consume much more fat, protein and even salt than advised, which will , in time, lead to coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, liver disease, the list goes on and on. One of the main reasons I decide to have this surgery is to be able to consume a "norma" varied diet. More unrefined slow release carbs, more "good" fats, less junk!
  22. it's because I ate too fast!
  23. Dave so sorry to hear this. But I agree w Tiff that you should not settle for a procedure you're not 100% happy with, I wish you the best!
  24. I see there'e one in Norwich and one in Cambridge, the ggo thing is that the surgeons are the same surgeons that do surgery on the NHS, so you can fully check the consultants and ask about their experience etc
  25. We shouldn't feel guilty, obesity is a disease, we tried for years to get better but we couldn't so we decided to have this surgery. God wouldn't disagree with a diabetic having insulin injections, would he? Or an operation to remove a tumour. I genuinely believe that most of us here made this decision of having surgery not lightly and having tried a thousand other ways of losing weight and not succeeding. I too still feel guilty sometimes, but I know I made the right choice for me and my family. I won't deny that vanity came into the equation too.Whenever anybody I love is having an operation I pray to God to bless and illuminate the surgeon, and make him/her make the right decisions during the operation. In my books God is a God of love, compassion and understanding and I thank him for helping me take this big step in my life!
