How did I miss this thread! Congratulations on your weight loss Will, I'm jealous nearly 7 weeks out and lost a bit less than you, but I know men lose quicker than woman, my husband's losing weight and I'm the one with the sleeve! Just had to mention I LOVE GAY Guys, you're the best, my best friend is gay and I love him to bits! Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Too skinny anyone?
When I was researching WLS and then went to my surgeon, apart from the high maintanace of the band the "good" thing was that it was reversible and the sleeve wasn't, or isn't shall I say. When I asked him why would I ever want to reverse my stomach back when it made my life a misery all these years? He just shrugged, I said worse case scenario, if I lose too much weight (which I doubt very much) I'll just add more fats and carbs (as oregondaisy said) and a nice milkshake a day! I am SO happy with my sleeve, so please do your research!!

I know it won't bring world peace but ...
I'm not even halfway to my goal and I am happier already! I feel healthier, I have more energy, I'm looking forward to going out to be able to wear nice clothes...I know it won't solve all my/our issues, and as you said GB it won't bring world peace, but it sure does make life easier!!

SOUP with chunks? Confused....
I don't think it's about messing up the sleeve, but supossedly if you drink the food will go past the sleeve faster and you'll be able to get more food in and hence not lose th weight as quick, if that makes any sense. I still drink a few tiny sips sometimes while i'm eating, and I do hope I'm not messing my sleeve. I'm seeing my surgeon on thursday so I'll ask him

Eating spicy food?

Anyone in here from the UK ?
Coops at last i can put a face to the name, you are very pretty! I did do a 2 week preop diet, mainly to reduce the size of the iver to make the procedure a bit easier. I was on yoghurts, fruit, milk coffee tea and that was about it. Having said that only lost a couple of pounds even though I starved to death, now I'm hardly even hungry!

Anyone in here from the UK ?
I got it done privately, my BMI wasn't that high and I would have to wait ages(more than a year, my GP did refere me though but even to see the consultant i would have to wait months), so we went self-pay (i say we cause hubby is the one paying). I've been on Xenical, and any other drugs available, lost a bit and then went right up and more. It is very emotional but worth it in the end. What is druthers??

Support from Wife?
Good luck to you, I'm sorry you don't have the support of your wife. You should explain that 1) This is NOT an easy way out, it takes a lot of strenghth and will power and "balls" to do this and 2) You NEED to do this for the sake of your health, while she might be a bit overweight (is she?) your obesity will lead you to an early grave if you don't do something about it now, she wouldn't want that, I know I wouldn't. The best of luck, you will be in my prayers.

Post Op ? - Muscle Spasms
I had real bad back pain, my muscles kind of wwent into spasm as well, my husband who's a doctor said it was because I was standing in a "weird" position because of my incisions. I took just the painkillers I was given at hospital as well, had trouble sleeping, I also had very bad pain between my shoulder blades because of the laparoscopic gas they use during surgery that affects nerves in that area (again explained by my surgeon hubby!) My pain wasn't as bad as yours seems to be, it lasted for a couple of weeks. If you don't get any better I would ring your suergeon just in case, hope you get better soon!

It's Official!
Well done, you look great!

looking for a snack
OMG Globetrotter, I admire you, you are very brave in many ways! I'm 7 weeks out and have been eating cooked veggies for a while: brocoli, cauliflower, carrots, peas. I just make sure I chew really well and never have any issues, sometime I'll have a few tiny sips of water to get it down, even though I take vitamin supplements I wouldn't want to have some kind of deficiency that would affect my health, and even more so in you case.

My own "What have I done?" moment has come.. please help
I agree with every single thing you're saying! I'm 41, have been on a diet since I was 9, yes 9 yrs old! Scientific evidence show us that diets do not work, and from my own experience I know they don't, only temporarily and then most people put on all the weight and more! I feel very proud of my self and of all you guys who have gone/are going through the same as me. I have 3 lovely girls, 12yrs, 10yrs and 10 months and a lovely husband who supports me and I thank God for that! Best luck to all of you, all those feelings are normal, I think every morning I wake up I can only get better and move forwards in every aspect of my life, and I'm loving it:001_wub:

Nausea heighten by smells
The same happened with my taste, smells don't make me nauseous though. My hubby even said surgery changed my taste sense, before I used to love sweet stuff(biscuits, chocolate)now I find most things too sweet!

Sweet taste in my mouth?
I've been having a soury taste in my mouth, I guess it's acid, I dont take PPI's any more, 7 weeks out, but it doesn't really bother me (the starnge taste) and since I stopped taking them I'm hardly hungry anymore! Will ask my surgeon on thursday if i still need tto take them cause i ran out
-
