  1. ok this is a loaded question because everyone's pain tolerance is different. I AM A BIG BABY!!! i wanted to kill the nurse when she made me get up and do my walks. it would have been better if i didnt have to sit back down. the up/down was killing me. i'd say mine was a 10!!!! at the port site. i thought my insides were gonna fall out. my surgery was out patient so i went home that day. my experience may be a little dramatic, I'M A DRAMA QUEEN! LOL! but the good news is by day 4 it was a 3...lol

go girl! i'm so proud of you doing good over the weekend. that is a hard time for me as well. keep up the good work!
  3. Hi, I am on my second fill. i now hae 7.5 cc's in my band. I'm not sure why people say that cuz my doc says that number doesnt matter since every is different. Any who....i was waiting for the big fullness to happen and it never has. Now instead of feeling full I feel satisfied. Sometimes i can feel a slight tightness(for lack of a better) word in the middle of my chest, which is where i was told I would feel my "new full". For some reason I was waiting for the "if i take one more bite i'll throw up". ummm yeah never happened! LOL I think I probably would be able to eat more if i physically tried, but i know i'm only eating till am satisfied. Once I got my 2nd fill i burped more and heard a lot of gurgling going on in my stomach. Kinda weird. But I'm gonna see how much I lose with this next fill. It does take me about 5-6 hours before I am physically hungry again. Ok let me stop rambling. Hope this helped some. LOL! Best wishes
  4. sorry i re-read the post and saw you said UNFILL NOT FILL!! SORRY i have no experience with the unfill!
  5. Tammy, I got banded my Dr. Elli at Day One Health. It was an out patient surgery. me and the scale have a love/hate relationship..i actually threw one down the stairs and broke it(pre-banding) lol...i am LEARNING to weigh myself only on friday's..it's a work in progress, but so far i havent stepped on the scale since friday...that is huge for me! LOL I have to remember that the scale is not the determining factor of my success. besides I have a size i'm trying to get to not a weight.
  6. hi Tammy, I think so far the most frustrating thing has been bandster hell! After i was banded and started eating mushies/soft and regular foods I gained 2-3 pounds. i was ready to kill myself! LOLI called my dietician and she told me this was perfectly normal. the first 6 weeks are for healing. i knew that, but in my mind i only want the scale to do down and not up. I'm on my second fill and finally have some restriction and i'm soooo excited. where are you getting banded?
  7. hi ladies. i live in the south suburbs but was banded in downtown chicago. feel free to PM with questions. i've been banded about 5 weeks now. Congrats on making the decision to change your life!
  8. thanks for the response Racheal. i havd 7.5 cc's in my band and i'm on my second fill cuz the first did nothing. i was also concerned that i have so much in my band and i'm just getting started. i didnt think abou the whole losing fat around the stomach. thanks!
  9. honey i'm sorry you're feeling this way, but you need to talk with a professional psychatirist that deals with body images problems or with patients that have had WLS. Having thoughts of sucide is very scary and it breaks my heart to read that. I pray that you are safe and seek help and dont do anything drastic. Please keep us posted. I am praying for you.
  10. wow that's interesting. but unfortunalty i was eating or hadn't recently eaten. I would have been relieved if that was the answer. lol
  11. I was banded on may 20th so i'm roughly 5 weeks out. From time to time I still get pain in my left shoulder! i thought at 2 and a half weeks it was gone for good, but NOOOOOOOOOOO! What's the longest you guys have heard of someone dealing with this. Apparently that walking thing only works in the beginning. I'm back to all my normal activities including working out! What gives? ugh! ouch!
  12. i'm sorry you have to deal with that, but glad to know i'm not the only one. it's soooo hard not to discuss this part of my life with my mom cuz we usually talk about everything. i find myself catching myself so i dont discuss it. to put icing on the cake she told me sister today that it looks like she's losing weight! MY SISTER IS BIGGER THAN ME AND HASNT DROPPED AN OUNCE LET ALONE A POUND! WTH! I just stood there with my mouth gapping open. It just hurts so much that I feel like she's going out of her way to not recognize my success.
  13. Thank you guys soooo much! i dont think I could make it through this journey without your encouraging words and concern for my success. As far as restriction. it feels like teh liquids pauses in the middle of my chest and then slides down. (about a couple of seconds) sometimes i feel like i need to pat my chest to make things go down. I have a lot of extra gurling going on in my stomach now and some small burping. So far i've eating some pudding and mostly been drinking liquids. I had a protein shake this morning at 7:30am and wasnt hungry until like 1:30!!!! i pray and hope this continues, but you know i'll keep you guys posted!!!!
  14. I am self pay as well and i am trusting God that if something were to arise that I would be able to take care of it. I cant worry about things that are not promised to happen. I've trusted him thus far no need to stop now. I hope i didnt offend you with my God referencre but that's how i'm handling it.
  15. the other day my dad called me skinny minnie! (me!!!! wow) it was nice to hear that from him and i've only lost 17 pounds so far. i wish my mom would take a hint from him and start to be supportive. it hurts to not have my mother NOT support me on this. i mean as a little girl you always want your mommies approval, but i guess i should put my big girl panties on and suck it up. i've decided not to even discuss my weight loss with her. i mean people at work who see me everyday have noticied and she sees me for the first time in 6 months(even though i was just banded a month ago) and says NOTHING!! when i tell her i've lost 17 pounds her response was well your dad has lost 20 pounds and you can really see his, but yours is gonna take a while!!!! WTH!! i just got off the phone with her. Anyone else dealing with an unsupportive loved one. UGH!
  16. thanks for your post. i was banded may 20, 2011 and i just got my second fill today. finally feeling some restriction!!!
  17. i take pics and i started a video blog on my phone starting the day of surgery. Not sure what i want to do with the video blog yet. Any suggestions. i'm not to computer savy! LOL :P
  18. i had my 2nd fill literally a few hours ago. My first fill did NOTHING! i some how still lost 5 pounds and i had no restriction and was hungry all the time. Now when i drink liquids(which i'm on for 2 days), i feel it stop in the middle of my chest and then kurplunk it drops in to my stomach. LOL! OH HOW I'VE WAITED FOR THIS FEELING! I cant wait to see what happens when i get to solid foods. my fills dont hurt at all. my doctor uses a air compressed needle with numb the area and the needle for the fill is HUGE!! i refuse to watch it go in my stomach, but all I feel is pressure. l'm so ready to get this ball rolling towards my size 12!!!! best wishes all!
  19. Ok so today I went for my second fill. I had one last Friday and I felt NOTHING! I was able to eat whatever and was always hungry like 2 hours later. Well I went in for my fill today. My doctor ran an hour late for my appointment, but Jesus himself would have had to drag me out of that office without getting my fill! LOL I went through the usual routine of getting weighed. I LOST 5 POUNDS SINCE THE FIRST FILL LAST FRIDAY! I was totally shocked! What a wonderful surprize! I am now down 33 pounds from my heaviest weight of 258 and 17 down from when i started my pre-op diet. When i drank the barium(yum yum right) this time it felt different. I felt it stop in the middle of my chest, pause for a little then disapate! HOW I'VE LONGED FOR THIS FEELING! I told my doctor this feels different this time. I now have 7.5 cc's in my band, still dont know what size band I have. I actually dont even care about how much is in it as long as i get restriction and stay full longer. I cant wait to try some real food(on liquids for 2 days, even though he didnt technically say that, i'm sure it's the same from the first fill.) I went to the gym again to work out some frustration from a comment from my mom that really hurt. I'm focused and ready to kick this into full gear!!!!! SIZE 12 HERE I COME!!!
  20. i am not to eat solid foods 4 hours before my fill, and liquids for 2 days after. every sugeon is different. i doubt eating a boiled egg right then will fly with the doctor, but i would call the office before your fill and see what your surgeons policy is.
  21. Hi jen..there's a thread on here call skinny bucket list...check it out. it goes with what you're saying.
  22. i love this forum! thanks for the encouragement all those who were banded before some of us. thank you for not being negative and telling us negative things. i saw a post on here where some one who had been banded like 2 days gripping about people complaining about not loosing weight. 2 days! ha that person has no idea what we're dealing with at this stage, so maybe their tune will change once they get to our point. anyway i'm glad i read this post cuz it made me feel a whole lot better! 2nd fill on friday! praying for some restriction and more time between being hungry!
  23. my surgeon does the first fill at 4 weeks and then wvery 2 months, but i had my first fill on june 17th and i'm going back june 25th cuz it's like he didnt do anything. he has a policy if you come back within 2 weeks of an adjustment there is no charge.
  24. oh hunnie i feel your pain. i went through the same thing. once i started eating mushies and soft foods i actually gained 2 pounds. i was ready to jump off a ledge! i spoke with my dietician and she assured me this was normal. i have a love hate relationship with my scale. i got my first fill on friday (my band was empty too) and i did nothing. i'm goin back on friday for another one. i advise you to make sure your're getting liquids in and exercise, that's pretty much all you can do at this point and wait. i totally understand where you are coming from. sending you cyber hugs!!!!
