  1. I read one of your other post that said you do a protein drink for breakfast and lunch. You might fell some restriction in the am if you try food, normally the band is tighter in the am. Just a thought. smiles
  2. It comes down to you and how bad you want this. Getting the lap-band and losing weight with it takes self control and a lot of work, are you ready for that? Good luck
  3. I was never told any of that! I went back to work on day four and did not limit my movement. Now that I have switched gyms though I wonder if any of the weight machines I use could harm my band. I need to call my Dr and find out!
  4. I get all my protein from food, I only used protein shakes for pre-op and the first week after surgery. I like the crunch of food and was told the same thing by my surgeon about drinking my calories.
  5. I lost 100 pounds in six months. I started at 304 and am now 169 at 10 months. I just followed the rules but I do eat 6 times a day. My body likes it and it keeps me going. I feel it when my protein level is down and I need to eat. I work out 5 times a week for an hour and drink lots of water.
  6. Chicken can be the problem, make sure it is moist and I cut mine up and then chew very well. I was told also to eat dark meat chicken since it is also moister than white. Great job on the weight loss you are doing great
  7. I am not a quitter either! On the serious side this is all quite interesting and until they have been in our shoes there perspective will never be quite right.
  8. congrats and celebrate!
  9. I get that way right before my TOM. Mine only lasts about four days and then I am back to normal. Also sometimes stress can cause it.
  10. Welcome Lisa Marie you have come to a wonderful place! There is a lot of information and support on this site. It has really helped me with different things I have gone through to have people in the same place as me or ones that have gone through it and can offer their support.
  11. I stayed away from alcohol for 9 months, put now enjoy a glass of wine now and then. As for soda, yes it is a big no no. Once you get used to not drinking when you eat, it is no big deal. You will not be a different person at social events, you will be you. The lap band has made changes in my life, but good ones. I am healthy and still enjoy doing the things I did before and eating the things I did before just in a lot smaller amount. It is ok to be scared, we all were in the same boat when we started our journeys and look at how we all have succeeded. Good luck
  12. My nut told me to make 180 my goal ( I started at 304) but I set my goal at 160. I am now 169 and am starting to think I may go to 150. A normal BMI for me would be 154. So do what you want and let your body tell you where it wants to be. Know-one knows you better than yourself
  13. You could still be swollen from Wednesdays episode. Also Eggs can be a problem for some bansters. I can eat eggs some days and others forget it. Try to eat soft foods for a day and you will feel a lot better. Keep up the wonderful work!
  14. congrats, you are almost there! Keep up the wonderful work it is sooooooooooooooooo worth it.
  15. I was banded with a bmi of 51. Nothing was ever said about my bmi being to high. My 10 pre-op diet was 3 to 4 protein shakes (EAS low carb) and 1 lean cuisine (300 cals and under) a day. I also drank lots of water
  16. OK here is the deal, you will get out of the lap band what you put into it. It is a tool and you have to remember to use it as instructed. I lost 100 pounds by six months and have now have lost 135 at ten months. I am 9 pounds from goal and know I will reach it before my 1 year. I have worked hard to get here, sticking to the program and exercising. I am not perfect (don't tell my dh I said that!) but I do work hard at it. I wish you luck and remember you are great and you can do this
  17. I love coming to this site and having my feelings on a lot of issues like this one reinforced by all of you. I LOVE MY BAND and I work hard to keep it working for me. Lets all keep up our positive attitudes and over whelm the negative nellies out there!
  18. I am on medication for depression and anxiety and have had no problems with it since getting banded. I think exercising and making myself get out there has kept me from having trouble. I also know that as the pounds go down I get happier! I do admit it is a little harder at the moment with the gloomy weather but if I get out and take a walk it helps.
  19. Some I do and others you know you just do not go there. I told one lady the other day and she was so excited she is getting a lap band in March! I told her any questions or concerns she knows where to find me.
  20. One thing that does bother me though is that my larger regular customer don't come to me anymore. I guess they related to me better when I weighed another 130 pounds. Makes me sad because I am the same person on the inside.
  21. thanks for the post
  22. There are a lot of things at play, are you getting enough calories in? to may calories? enough water? exercising (at least walking)? enough protein? staying away from the bread, rice, and pasta? Talk with your Dr, but you are doing well 18 in four weeks is 4.5 pounds a week and that is above average. (average is 2 pounds a week) Keep up the good work and don't get down on yourself
  23. I am a grocery checker at a large store. Yesterday I had a plump women come through my line with a lot of lean cuisine meals. I told her that I loved them and used them as my lunch on work days.(I only can eat half of it!) She gave me a look while sizing me up and said "Why? You don't look like you need to lose any weight!" Me not needing to lose weight I love it! Here she thought she was being nasty to me and she actually made my day!! I still have 12 pounds left to go, but boy do I feel good now, I could not stop smiling the rest of the day!
  24. and to add to your first answer 10 pounds is wonderful!
