why am i not losing?
I am only one week post-op and don't get my first fill until 5/11/2011. Yes, I had some pasta with green beans and felt like I could have another serving. Now that really scares me, so I really have to watch it because I have no restrictions. I will not weigh myself until next Sunday to see if I've loss weight.

Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!
This is my first week in the mushie stage....I feel like I am taking more than 1/2 cup of food, but I just stop eating when my body tells me I had enough to eat. My first fill will be on 5/11/2011, so I guess I am on my own to watch what I put in my mouth and to exercise. I'm just banded no fill yet. I'm okay so far...if there is any problems, I will come to this site and start reading for encouragement.

Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!
Hi fabulous forties.....I was banded on 4/1/2011 and initially regretted the surgery, but now I feel wonderful. Can't wait until the day, I can fit into my dresses that still have the tags on them. I will be sexy 45 in October and just embracing life and this new journey.

Did anyone ever regret the surgery
Initially, I regretted it. I was banded on 4/1/2011. Now I feel wonderful, moving around more, and just embracing this lapband. My dr gave me book with all the phases of food. I know the 1st week you should be on strictly liquids until you see your dr. You can clear broths, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, sugar free kool aid, crystal light, or wyler, Protein drink (whey protein isolate) with skim milk., and clear no sugar added juice (no citrus)--apple, cranberry, or grape (must be diluted equally. Hope this works for you.

Post surgery diet suggestions
Yes, protein drinks seems to help curve the hunger pain and plenty of water. i went to Vitamin World and found Whey Protein Isolate (vanilla). I was very happy with that, especially with skim milk, yummie. Please get the protein in.

Moving on Phase 2...the mushy stage. Scared, yes
Today, I will be starting the mushy stage and I am scared. Yesterday, I excited to move on to the next stage and today, I'm experiencing some anxiety. All kinds of questions, how will I know I'm full, am I chewing all of my food, am I putting too much in my mouth, etc I have this vision of my stomach exploding while I sit at the dinner table. . Did anybody else feel this way or am I the only one??

Introducing new foods...can't wait...having a liquid breakdown
I have an appt tomorrow to make sure I can start introducing foods into my body...I can't wait to eat chew other than swallow I promised my nephew an outing on Sunday and he has requested an Asian restaurant, so I can some egg drop soup or some type of plain noodles with veggies. I still have to drink my protein, but I get to chew........

What types of veggie in Phase 2
I was banded on 4/1/2011. This would be my first week post-op and now I am going into phase 2 of introducing food into my body such as cream of wheat, scrambled eggs, pudding, chicken Soups, crackers, etc. Mostly all foods are considered "slider" foods. I can also eat soft Pasta and soft veggies. The questions was what types of veggies I can eat without getting the bloating feeling. I guess every doctor is different, because I do not have to be on a month long post-op liquid diet. I assumed that every banded person follows the same phases, well I was totally incorrect.

Proud of myself
I am so proud of myself. My nephew asked me to buy him a pizza for when he comes home from school today. I picked up the pizza and my mouth started watering just from the aroma. It took every willpower in my body not to eat some of the toppings off the pizza and I kept saying it is not worth it, especially, I just started feeling better today. I put the pizza in the oven out of eyesight, and made me protein drink. Any other time, I would have indulge and worried about the consequences later, but I chose not to let my old me take over. A "pat" on my back. Job well done, Marni.

Feeling much better
Man o man, I feel so much better today. I beginning to regret that I had the lapband done. Less gas, less bloat, and finally had a BM (not to be gross). Wow, what a difference. Today, I am going for a light walk and do a little food shopping because I will be in phase 2 of introducing foods into my body. Can't wait, I ready for a soft scrambled egg, and cream of wheat.

What types of veggie in Phase 2
Sorry, the lapband.

Exercise/5 day post op
What about a light walk??? Since I am having a lot of problems with gas, the nurse advised me to walk and that would help the bloatness and gas I'm experiencing.

I am still burping and I have gas that needs to be release....HELP
I hate burping because it's hurts my tummy and chest. The gas is there, but it feels like it moving around waiting on something. Well come gas, I dare you.......LOL This may be one of the reason why I don't want to intake much fluids and I'm looking at my protein shake and about to gag. Well, I try to drink at least 1 oz of liquids every hour, and see how that works. In the meantime, I need to expel some of this gas.

3 day of post op
Will try to do that and sees what happens.

3 day of post op
I am really struggling to get down these the fluids...it's 8pm and I've gotten 20ozs of fluids in and I should be taking in more than that. I just don't have the appetite and the top of my stomach hurts. In addition, I am still burping like crazy. Sucking on SF popsicles seem to relieve the discomfort I'm experiencing, I really need to get down the protein liquids, but I gag at the though of it. My fluids intake should be more than 20 ozs...I think???? As far as the healing process, I am able to move around with some discomfort, so that's good news. I have an appt with dr this Friday and I will discuss what's going on with me. I know that this journey will get better.

What is your goal weight?
My goal is between 145-150 according to my age, frame, and height. I really just want to be healthy and able to manage my back pain a little bit better. I had two back surgeries and I stand on my feet all day, which is an uncomfortable feeling. I just want to wake and enjoy the day without having all this pain in my back.
