Thanks to whoever suggested the heating pad for gas!
Whoever it was on the forum that suggested using a heating pad for gas pains.....THANK YOU!!! I am now on mushies and my pureed taco soup caused some major G.I. pain tonight. Without the heating pad, I would have been it tears!

Pain, Pain go away
My doc said no NSAIDS either..I think it even says no NSAIDS on the Lap Band website. You may want to check. Stomach erosion would not be good.

W@W!!! This band really works!
I really have not thought about food unless my stomach growls. And I get a feeling in my chest when I am at my almost full mark and if I get up from the table I realize I am no longer hungry.
-
Just when you think you got it!!!!!
I would only drink enough (if it happens) to pass or throw up anyway! But it is good to know in case of a dire emergency. I wouldn't try it unless I was really stuck!

Just when you think you got it!!!!!
I may be newly banded but this is really good to know! I do not deal with pain so if I can get it up with soda then Hallelujah!

Morning band tightness
Not only do I have that problem in the morning but after I worked out today it was super tight! I feel like something is stuck in my chest. I am not in pain but I don't want to eat. I guess I will try the protein shake in the morning and maybe work out earlier in the day tomorrow. This certainly makes you notice and take note to your eating habits!

2 weeks post OP
Congratulations on your new life! I will say, I am 38 and afraid I won't loose all the weight. I think it is probably a very normal feeling. Just remember, it took years to put on and with this process it may take years to get off! But, this is such a safe and lasting way to loose the weight. Congrats on your decision!

had lapband today 4/13/11
Congratulations on being banded! I drank as much Water (plain) as I could get down and chewed gas X tabs that were mint flavor. My pain meds were liquid also. You may want to call your dr. and ask for liquid if you do not have it already.

W@W!!! This band really works!
Just had about 1/4 can of chicken and Rice Soup (Pureed). I made 1 cup but could not eat it all. Normall I would wash a can down with a pack of crackers (before band). This band is amazing. I am actually full. Just want to share my AWWWWW moment! http://bandstermomma.blogspot.com/

Morning band tightness
Thanks for the tips! I am a "crunchy" kind of gal so the pickles may do the thing! And I will pick up a bag of Werther's sugar free. Love the ideas...if you have anymore please post!

Eating with Baby Spoon??
I have small spoons but never thought about cocktail forks! What a great idea.

Morning band tightness
Do you eat pickles because they are low in calories? I am going to the gym today for the first time since getting the band (Dr. Ok'd the gym yesterday). Maybe it will work that way for me too! I will cross my fingers. Love, love, love that we can use it to trick ourselves!

Morning band tightness
I think I have read on the boards that this is normal but, I wanted to double check (I am newly banded 8 days out).....in the mornings it seems that my band is tighter than the afternoons. I can drink water when I first get up but that is about it! (I am currently on mushie stage)...Is this normal?

Post op 6 days - minor complications
I am six days out too. I have a hard knot about 2 inches above my belly button at the incision where they put the port. I thought they would put the port on the side. It is like a big hard knot and tender to the touch. I am having a little back pain and shoulder pain as well. I have been using the Gax-X chews. The mint flavor seems to calm my stomach a little. The worst thing for me is that I am so tired! I guess my body just wants to rest to heal. Hang in there...we will be done with this phase soon and moving on to the next!

How did you handle getting to eat your favorite meal?
I didn't think you sounded crazy at all...just honest. I am sure if we are all honest with ourselves we wondered what we will do when our favorite foods are put before us. We all got the lap band so we would be able to put our forks down!

How did you handle getting to eat your favorite meal?
If you watch how "thin" people eat you will notice they eat everything just in very small quanitities and are satisfied. That is what I love about the band. Yes, you can eat your favorite foods again but, not in portions that are ridiculously large. A bite or two will be plenty. Chew, chew, chew and enjoy the new you! You will be learning a new skill....moderation.

Banded yesterday Aprill 5th
My surgery was the 5th also. Yesterday wasn't that bad but today I am really sore! Congratulation on your new life! Isn't it exciting?

Negative Nellies!
My husband is taking me to and from the surgery but tomorrow night he has a big meeting he has to speak at. I did not ask him to reschedule because I think that would be ridiculous. My mom is coming to stay with me tomorrow evening. I know exactly what you are thinking. There is not a thing he could do for you that your mom can not take care of you. And, if we are really being honest, most (notice I said most NOT all) women are better caregivers. Have a great day tomorrow! I can't wait to start our new lives!
-
Negative Nellies!
Yep! She said it just like that. Oh well! Some people are never happy! I am just happy to be starting my new life....27 lbs. down and about a hundred more to go! Yipee! For once in my life I feel I can do it!
-
Negative Nellies!
I am sure some of you can relate to this: I was talking to a friend today about being banded tomorrow (YEAH!) and how exciting it was. Her reply, "I know someone else who was banded and they gained all the weight back plus some. Good luck!" GRRRRR!!! Talk about raining on my parade! Of course I didn't listen but still.....

Surgery Day is tomorrow 4/5
My I am having surgery tomorrow also. I am not nervous either...just excited and ready. My clothes are already a bit baggy too! Isn't it a wonderful feeling? Good luck!

Liquid Recipes
I would doubt that would get in the way of the surgery. Especially if you have been really good. We all make mistakes. Just get back on the wagon tomorrow. 2 hard boiled eggs and a PB&J are hardly a hamburger and fries!
