  1. Self-Sabotage, I'm the queen so with that being said.....how did you find and stick to new coping skills that didn't involve food? I've been an addict so long....How have you been successful long term w/ the band..I'm almost 3 months out...I know I'm not doing my best. Anyone else in the sabotage boat?
  2. Just my opinion, if you were able to lose weight and be healthy on your own...you wldn't have went w/ weight loss surgery. I was so frustrated and felt like I was truly doing my part, but I didn't feel like the band was do its part! So I talked to the PA who does the fills...It took three fills for me to quit feeling like I had the biggest joke played on me! I cld not feel any difference, I cld eat large portions & what ever I wanted....My PA told me slow & steady be patient the band would work we just had to do fills every 2 weeks. I have a 10 cc band first fill was 2.5, second was 2 and 3rd was 1.5 I felt NOTHING until my 3rd...it was driving me crazy, now I have to take small bites, eat slow, no bread...I now feel like I have a chance at being successful. You have to know what your working with, inside you, to know where you need to get to! I would take all my questions in and meet with the other Dr! good luck!
  3. I had a hard time too, they also did a hernia repair at the same time on me. I agree, walk walk walk...even if you are burning up your hall way or laps around the kitchen I did go out side when I felt steady enough and just made trips up and down the drive way.....drink water, take it easy...I'm a lil over 2 months out the first lil bit is the worse, then day by day you will start to feel better, hang in there!
  4. I was having the same Problem, I Finally got some restriction, with fill # 3 total of 6 cc in 10 band. So hard to focus and stay positive when you are so discouraged! Get another fill ASAP
  5. Thanks for the response....I was able to eat a luna bar, Turkery & Cheese for lunch, haven't had dinner yet. No slimming today, but things are different! Getting so excited that the band will work for me too!
  6. Banded on 3/16/11 Haven't lost any weight in about 5 weeks....went in today for my 3rd fill. 1st was 2.5, 2nd was 2.0 and today was 1.5, l(apband holds 10 cc's). I feel differently, I had a salad got three bites down, had to go to bathroom and had some slime come up? havent ate much at all today and feel more full. Dr. rules for fills no bread, Pasta, rice, or meat on day of fill. Next day reg diet. I've been so frustrated, when you first got restriction, what did it feel like? Could this be the start of the green zone? Thanks so much!
  7. You look so awesome. I was banded 3/16/11 I have been @ a total stand still for about six weeks now...down 23 lbs total...but so frustrated havent lost any in so many weeks. I've had two fills the 3rd scheduled for the may 25. I agree with the other poster, please share, tips, tricks, daliy food menu, how do you cope now w/ out food, do you exercise? how in the hell is it to be a size 10???? You have done great! TIA for all the info!
  8. Hello March 2011! Glad we are all trying to keep up w/ each other. I had my 2nd fill yesterday, My first fill was 2 1/2 weeks ago and NOTHING, it was like I had no restriction, I cld eat whatever and how ever much I wanted. Ive lost 23 lbs and the scale has not been moving in about 4 wks. first fill 2.5 second fill 2.0 my band holds 10. I feel today that I have been more full for longer....and made much better eating choices today...So maybe this 2nd fill will get me going! If not....3rd fill scheduled for May 25

I was allowed to have tuna wed and it was so good oatmeal, eggs etc coming off liquids, real food taste so wonderful!

But the ppl on here really made me feel better and the next morning, I just did better. We are human, obvisously we have issues with food and we are trying our best! Chin up Chin up! Kelli
  18. Hello, My questions are these: what is the typical wait time between first appt and actual surgery; if you feel like the whole fill thing is too aggressive, can you ask to back off a bit; i am TOTALLY addicted (yes, i mean ADDICTED) to mountain dew- is NO pop really the truth ( is flat diet pop ok a few sips per day?); will having the band interfere with the EGD's i have to get every couple years for my barretts; i'm scared of this 'band he** i hear about- what exactly is it; how long can i expect to be off work; do i really have to stop drinking all my Water? i drink 72 oz per day but i'm thinking that this will end??? I'm only 2 weeks post op tomorrow.....not sure if I can offer much insight, here goes: I went to a seminar in Aug 2010. I was banded on March 16. My Insurance (humana) required a 6 month diet w/ my family care doc. During the 6 months I could't gain any weight, my wait could not flucatuate. I could stay the same, or lose, so once I lost say 2 lbs, I had to keep it off from there on out. I LOVE LOVE Some Diet Coke...it was hard saying good bye...but I haven't had anything soda wise for almost a month...I believe I've gotten use to, and to be honest I don't miss it. I had to do liquids for 2 wks before surgery, THIS WAS SO HARD! Like it took me about 5 days to really get it together! I was like a crack head coming off the sauce! So hard for me....I read something on here once and she said. "If you want something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done!" I thought that was so simple, yet so insightful, so I remind myself of that saying often. During the surgery, I had henial hernia repair. That was where alot of my pain came from after surgery. I was off work for 6 days and am still kinda taking it easy. I took my pain meds as needed for the 1st 5 days. My port is on my left side which is the side I sleep on, so I still adjusting to sleeping. After surgery I was on liquids for two days then full liquids for 5 days, then onto Mushies for a week. Tomorrow I can eat Tuna! So looking fwd to that! I'm 31 weighed 266.8 when I went to the seminat/ this morning I weighed 246.0. I'm married have two boys 9 and 3. I'm young on Bp med, metformin for PCOS, I want to quit taking meds, be healthy and not be the "Fat mom" I had lots of anxiety about having the surgery, I found a great Surgeon, trusted him & prayed a lot. So far things have been great! It was a VERY Big decision and my bottom line was I started WW when I was 14 and have always struggled w/ my weight, I wasn't able to get healthy on my own long term. I'm so glad I got the band, it really reminds me to Stop eating, when I'm comfortable, make healthy choices & makes me feel as though being healthy is truly a long term option for me! Hope this long rant offers you some insight, If you have any questions just ask, I don't mind! Kelli
  19. Thank you all SO MUCH for all of your kind words! Tomorrow will be better, I'm giong to get my little note book out and start writing down all my intake, cal/pro/carbs. Finding support and encouragement from others that has been on the same journey is so reasurring!
  20. Ugh, I've ate so terrible today! Breakfast was fine, Luna Protein Bar, lunch homemade vegetable Soup (veggies only V-8 low sodium) so all that was fine.....then I went to Walmart....bought terrible Snacks and ate them all on the way home. (Didn't want anyone to know, my husband has been so supportive and is even sad, I'm going to be losing my curves) What I ate was a Kit-kat, Mars bar, and a 1dollar bag of chips Wed I will be banded 2 wks. I'm such a food addict. I knew when I was putting those items in my buggy, I was in the danger zone! The group of girls I work w/ all know about my surgery, they have all been complimenting me and telling me how they can tell, I'm losing. I'm GREAT @ self-sabotage, not so much on emabracing compliments. How did you learn to retrain your brain from old coping skiills? I'm so fortunate, have Ins, recovering fine, and now when I'm alone today, I pull this crap! I feel like this is "Dear Diary" Any comments/feedback Thanks!
  21. I like the Jillian Michael's Kind @ wal-mart (Chocolate) 4 pack is around 6 dollars. They have 16 grams of protein around 170 calories. I've tried several, these are my favortie.
  22. The first few days were REALLY rough. I was banded on 3/16 I would say day 8 and 9 have been my best. I also had a hernia repair. Take your pain meds as prescribed, drink all water @ room temp (helps w/ gas) walk, walk, walk,.....my port site still is very tender. You will get a little bit better each day. Hope you feel better soon.
  23. OMGEEEEEeeeeee! I totally have to agree The Hernia repair has been brutal for me. I called My dr office yesterday, when I take a deep breath I have a lot of pain and the said my hernia was pretty large and it was right behind my lungs, so it would take a while for it to heal. Today was my 1st day back to work and I took it very easy! Good luck to you as well! So weird to be on "other side" seems like I jumped through Ins hoops forever to get to this point!
