  1. You mean V Day, right? Victory for you. Are you really a mom of triplets? Your code name should be wonderwoman. Anyway - good luck on Monday! Let us know how you are recoverying.
  2. I am really excited for you too. Wow, tomorrow is your first day of a new you. Yay Jen!! A few tips. Remember to go to General Sleeve Surgery Discussion forum here (scroll down a little) and in there is the "Offical what you will need for surgery" thread. Good stuff. Post Op what helped me...a heating pad. G2 gatorade since I was not up to gagging down thick Protein shakes that first week. Recovery is more about keeping hydrated than worrying about your protein level. Drinking room tempature drinks, cold bothered my stomach. A heating pad to put on my stomach. Decaf peppermind tea, slightly warmed. I sat in a recliner for first week since I am a natural stomach sleeper and could not do that. Lipton chicken noodle soup strained for broth only...diluted. PS - I was outpatient for this surgery, so I came home same day. No pain just felt lethargic that first week. Again, thrilled for your new start. I love my sleeve.
  3. Listen to those posters before me. If your surgeon does not take you seriously, find another barriatric doctor to do your follow up. You might have a stricture which is why you can not tolerate foods. Take heed, you are not having a normal recovery. Now is the time to take charge of your health
  4. Love the smile on the after surgery picture. But, do you have the weights mixed up? You don't weight MORE after surgery, do you?
  5. Hi; If you don't mind me asking...which insurance do you have? Kaiser?
  6. Hi Miss Patrice; Saturday - August 8th. Location undertermined yet but probably Riverside or Chino area. Will keep you in the loop.
  7. I always feel cold now at goal weight. Unless I am sweating. Carry a sweatshirt around almost everywhere I go...just in case. If you were cold a lot before you will be colder afterwards.
  8. Dear SC; Ah - besides having a Paula mother - I could be your sister. Congrats on making a step toward a new you. The sleeve works!
  9. Um, hard to believe her because if your surgeon uses a 30 bougie then how could she eat the whole thing? Not possible. We all know it is not. Sounds like a fish tale.
  10. Fantastic results. Congratulations - you look skinny and happy!
  11. I went to the NEW Program in Newport Beach with Dr. Quebbemann. Self pay. 18K Would I use them again, yes.
  12. Sorry you are having such a tough time. Remember to sip, rest and walk. Those first couple of days can be ugly. Chin up and no regrets, okay?
  13. Yes, you are shrinking. The simply lovely shrinking lady. WOW - work that sleeve!
  14. Okay, I was a self payer. You are in the questionable zone. Go into see your primary doc and see what/he or she says about you having a couple of comorbitities. Go to a free weight loss seminar if your surgeon of choice has one. Work with the financial office and see what they say. Trust me, your surgeon wants to perform surgery to help you. Um, wear a lot of clothes too. The initial weigh in is your starting weight. Also, they ask your height. Slouch when they measure you. Good luck.
  15. Agree with Mini-Me. I would do this again tomorrow if I was in some crazy time warp. My starting BMI was 33 and I was a self pay in the US. Expensive, yes. Question I grappled with was if I was worth the money I was going to spend. Next, life was not magically perfect after surgery. I had minor bumps along the way after VSG. But, I have no regrets other than none having done this earlier. I feel great, am active and look great. sleep on it and the answer will come to you.
  16. None of us enjoyed having our picture taken before. Yes, I can really see a difference. Keep up the great work and keep moving!
  17. Thanks for the reply. I did not want to post in general area and scare off the newbies. I love my sleeve but this is a mental problem, not a sleeve problem. Once I hit goal, I lost maybe three lbs up and down for a while but lost 2 more sizes in clothes. Went from an 8 to a 4 or 6 depending on mfg. So as you settle in, the body continues to redistribute weight. Will you do me a favor please and give me a link to your post about this same subject. My mental health is in the balance. Thanks!
  18. Okay - I am totally depressed and need someone to vent. So, I have been so thrilled about being a size 4 or 6 walking around in total vanity. Yesterday I was going through old clothes from over 15 years ago when I was at a size 8 or 10. Put these old suits on and they fit. Perfectly. Size 10. Really? I look great, I feel great, I am active - why am I letting a number depress me? Am I one of those arrogant persons who judge myself? Now I feel like I have not lost enough and want to start back up on the diet with the militant vigor I did after surgery. I am crazy and depressed. Crying depressed. Oh - I am keeping the skirts since they never go out of style but the jackets are a getting tossed. But just thinking of putting on a size ten mentally defeats me. I have three cocktail dresses I am keeping too, same story. The GunnySax dresses are getting tossed. Help. I need a reality check.
  19. Welcome to the losers bench. Glad to hear you are doing well. Remember to stay hydrated by continuing to sip.
  20. Welcome to the world of "regular" sizes. Exciting!
  21. What are you doing in Orlando? Disneyworld? Business? Family? I flew for work one week after surgery - called the airline and got a wheelchair assist through the airport. I was always tired for the first several weeks. Between eating differently, the drastic drop in calories and carbs, healing - this was a journey, not a vacation. Love my sleeve and so glad I got it, but if I were in your shoes - reschedule. Good luck!
  22. Solid advice from Rev Me Up! You are doing fine and are normal. After being sleeved the relationship with food changes but yes, you still feel like life is all about food. Now it is watching what you eat. Other than being worried about eating too much (2 oz too much? HA HA) how are you doing? Is the scale moving in the right direction for you? Are you feeling well? Staying hydrated?
  23. Did we have the same surgeon? Mine additionaly told me that he would be able to tell if I cheated so if he went in and saw a fatty liver, he would close me up and I would have to start diet over again. Torture, that is what the preop diet is to us commoners. But, the diet pre and post op helped me ensure a safe surgery and a complete healing. Additionaly, what a way to kick off the weight loss. You can do this. The sleeve is amazing.
  24. Do not complain about the 6 month supervised diet with BCBS of IL. Do you realize they only started approving the sleeve in October of 2010. Ask me when I got my surgery? Sept. 2010. Yeah, I self paid for the sleeve. No regrets, but ouch on the pocketbook.
  25. You look so different already.... celebrate. Congrats on making that sleeve work for you!
