Grieving Period
Just started the 48 hr liquid diet before surgery on Wed. My husband has decided to do the greiving and his answer to that is eat his portion and what mine would have been. I thought I would cook like I normally do and there would be good leftovers for him after surgery and I won't feel like it. Ya right....used to be he and I would eat and there would be enough for his lunch the next day. I think he is doing this so I won't try to change him just because I am. But geaze give it a rest already....he will explode and I am not cooking for a few days atleast. So he can eat out or starve. Thanks for letting me vent...LOL

April 2011 surgery dates
Started my clear liquids today and have to do this for 48 hours. Surgery is 8:45 am Wed. morning. On my clear liquids I am allowed 2 protein shakes a day. My surgeon recommends Bariatric Fusion, so I bought this huge container and thought great I will be stuck with some nasty thick gross me out stuff. It was wonderful, 6 ozs. skim milk, 2 crushed ice cubes and one scoop and blended it. Just like a milk shake and 27 grams of protein.

Three Weeks Out and Counting
I am surprised by how different the different diets are on here. Mine is Clear Liquids 48 hours before surgery and 3 days after. On days 4 thru 6 it's what thery call full liquids (which to me means thicker), weeks 2, 3 and 4 are mushies which in my books says soft, moist, solid foods. (eggs, tuna, fish, well cooked veggies, cottage cheese, string cheese, refried Beans, deli chicken or turkey, fruit (no skins)example: peaches fresh or canned just no citrus) and from day one Protein Drinks.

Self Pays -- How much did you pay?
Kansas, $11,999.00 w/ 1 year fills and appointments. Everything included except the head doc eval. Went to him not for cost so much but because his seminar was so good and he lets you know he is the best. Of course I will know more once I actually get there on the 20th, saw him yesterday for my pre op appointment.

My NEW lease on life arrives in 3 weeks
I totally feel the same way, mine is the 20th and I have been going back and forth like a ping pong ball. One thing I keep going back to though is the idea that this time when I lose the weight it will stay off.

It's a Bad Story
Hi all, It was good to hear spot is doing better and I know woodslass was worried, but now she hasn't been on for a few days that I know of. She said she was having her one week post op appointment Tuesday. Anyone heard from her?

To tell or not to tell, that is the question
I am not telling anyone but my hubby and 2 co-workers. Didn't even want to tell one of them but it would be imposible to expect one to keep my confidence and all work in the same office. I told them I didn't want anyone to know...am the Director of a cosmetology school and lordy the gossip!!! My boss and his wife know and hopefully my loose lipped boss and hubby won't spill the Beans. Especially my hubby, I know he's just dying to tell his whole family...."I said let me get on the other side of this weight and then you can brag your heart out, but your still not blabbing how I did it" "If I want them to know I will tell them" I am not telling my parents as I don't want them to worry, same with the siblings!!!

Weight Loss Before Surgery
From what I understood, they wanted a person to shink the liver to make the surgery easier.

It's a Bad Story
Relieved to hear you are ok. Not fun feeling like your going to throw up all the time and then having to fly on top of it. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing the rest of the time. Take care.

Am I the only one truly struggling with this?
Gosh my doctor told me that I would be on liquids 2 days then on to mushy and by the end of the first week he wants me on moist solids. Eat slow, chew chew chew and no liquids right before and 30 mins after a meal. The nutritionist said they were changing the way they do things because they have learned so much about the band and are relaxing the guidelines. I think those of you that had to be on liquids 2 weeks are saints!!!! and super disciplined....

Post surgery
Glad to hear your getting better each day. Do they want you off a whole week? Mine wants me off till I see him the following week, I did all my blood work yesterday and they gave me all my instructions and what to expect. She had to stick me twice for 2 vials of blood....so I just can't wait for the IV. LOL Is the protien shake one the doctor carries? My doctor recommends fusion, anyone heard of that one and if yes how do they taste? Atleast I can buy the individual serving packets to try, the chewable Vitamins aren't bad.

Progress Pictures
I am taking one before and one after.....but then I hate having my picture taken. Maybe that will change. If you do, take them once a month....weekly seems excessive.

Banded 3/16/2011
Relax, your body has gone thru alot and working out builds muscle and weighs more, keep doing what your doing and you will lose. Probably alot at one time. Don't weigh to often, do what your doing and wait a week to weigh you will be surprised.

Hungry Girl Brownie Cupcakes
I have made these many times. Your right you don't even know there is pumpkin in them the pumpkin keeps them moist. I use the low sugar cake mix, add 2 eggs and and 1 cup of dark chocolate mini chips and bake them in the mini baking pans and they are 35 calories each. I am so glad I saw this tread as I might not have remembered them.

Surgery
Wow seeing my name on the list makes it so real. I am having these bursts of nervous energy, worked in the yard all day yesterday and have been cleaning the house like crazy. I want this house clean and the laundry all done so when I get home I won't have to worry about a thing. I loved woodslass's idea of using baby forks and spoons, I am going to hunt down my childrens in the silverware box.

Gas pains post-op.
- BMI of 37 but no morbidities = no coverage?
Mine is $11,999.00 w/ a years fills and checkups.- BMI of 37 but no morbidities = no coverage?
Having the same problem.....going with self pay. Not patient enough to fight them or gain more to get the BMI up.- Feeling so much better
Good to hear your doing better.....- screwed up
I agree with Woodslass, I saw the nutritionist today and she gave me the exact same time fame as Woodslass got. I questioned her about this very thing and she said the more they do the more they learn. - BMI of 37 but no morbidities = no coverage?
